    Awesome.

Is any team in any sport a better reflection of their coach than Butler? They just don't get rattled.
  • Midstate01
Didn't expect iu to take a quick shot there.

Terrible D by IU...smart play by Stevens. He had Barlow bring it up against Hulls, the only guy not a threat to steal it. He isolated him on Hulls the whole way. Coaching...

Well the game of the year bar has been set.

This game ended exactly how it should have. Fabulous game.

I'll look forward to layley's comments. Not because they lost, just to see what he thought of the game and how butler was able to pull it off. He's obv pretty into iu bball, lol. I like his insight

thats not just coaching, that's elite coaching

Agreed about the elite coaching. Brad Stevens is a top five coach in America. Hands down. Not just because today, but his whole body of work at Butler of all places speaks volumes. Unless he decides that he wants to try and win a title at Butler after coming so close twice already, there are three schools that I imagine he is holding out for. Indiana, Duke and North Carolina. I'd also add UK, but I don't see Stevens as a good fit in that crazy environment. Being the coach at Kentucky is something entirely different than just coaching.

I hate to say it. I REALLY hate to say it. However, I don't see Stevens following K, Roy or Cal. The expectations will be insane. Say it's after 2016, you literally might have those 3 guys being owners of half of the previous dozen national titles.

Stevens to UCLA is the part I hate to say. It would be a shame because that school and fan base does NOT deserve him.

Ohio University loses at home to 3-4 Winthrop...
  • Prescott
Butler came into the game hitting 34% behind the arc. Today they were 11/24(46%) and two players shooting under 25% behind the arc were a combined 3/4. Sometimes, the other team shoots over their collective head. That is what happened today in Indy.

VCU stomped all over Alabama in Anthony Grant's return.

Good points. And you are so right about UCLA not deserving Stevens. They are a meager, meager fan base. They are the Miami Heat fans of college basketball. When it was Eddie House dropping double doubles in the early 2000s, AmericanAirlines Arena was a church.

I still contend that, though, that the ultra laid back Stevens wouldn't fit well at UK. Although, there is no question that Kentucky is the pinnacle of college coaching. It's just not a job for everybody.

That was the key to the game. Everyone knew it. Indiana couldn't stop it. With respect to Butler's under average percentage from deep, though, among the three-point weapons they do have, one of them is one of the most difficult shooters to guard in America. Probably the most difficult. And Clarke dropped five dagger treys on the Hoosiers, at the most inopportune times.

Kansas has been on an absolute offensive roll lately. Put a 30 point whoopin on a decent Belmont team. After thrashing Colorado (who a week before was the 19th team in the country) by almost 40 points last week.

They're showing that they are a national championship contender when they are at their best. The resurgence of Ben Mclemore is propelling them to a top 5 team. Bill Self is cheesing at the thought of being able to coach this team up for March..and more heavily on his mind, April.

Holy shit Arizona is getting hosed by the refs at home. 2 garbage ass calls
  • reclegend22
Despite some very questionable officiating, Zona was able to finally put a streak of threes together to pull to within four at the break. I was very convinced heading into this game that the Wildcats would win in the McKale Center, and I still feel that way. Zona started the game one for a trillion from beyond the arc, and are almost within one jump shot at the half. I will take it.

Belmont is an NCAA team. Great win. Ian Clarke is no joke. Dude was shooting 70% from three after seven games, and has nearly 40 makes from distance. Belmont has already won at Stanford and played VCU real tough.

Coach Rick Byrd is on that same level as a Bob McKillop. Belmont has won 25 or more games in a season three of the last five seasons, including 30 in 2011.

How far does Indiana fall?? Osu lost at duke and fell 4 spots I think. Indiana lost on a neutral court to an I ranked team. So fall to 7 or 8? They should. But I bet they drop to 4 or 5.

I think you are right. I also bet they stay in the top 5.

Not so sure Belmont will make the NCAA Tournament. Now that they are in the Ohio Valley, they have to beat out Murray State. The OVC is pretty decent this year.

That was an absolutely terrible T call in the Florida/Arizona game.
  • Laley23
Sometimes I hate Tom Crean. It's too late and I'm too tired to post an full response. Lets just say that GW bucket was very predictable. Why on earth do you take your best player out of the game with 19 seconds to go when it's tied??? Why do you leave your absolute worst defender in the game at the same time??? It was so obvious butler would take hulls 1-1 with whoever he guarded because he can't stop anyone 1-1 and its even worse there wasn't a big guy (Zeller) to protect the paint... Terrible coaching.

Oh well. Great game. Surprised Butler was able to rebound with IU, that was the key IMO. Because overall, Clarke wasn't that good. Clutch. But not that good. Oladipo was fantastic on him for 90% if the game.

Kudos to Butler on playing so hard also. Outside Oladipo, not sure butler didn't have the next 6 most energized players, and it showed. At the end if the day, solid loss, though I don't believe in that kind of thing.
