College Basketball Random Chatter 2012-2013 Season

Rebel freshman Anthony Bennett had a monster game for Vegas, tallying 25 points and 13 boards. He is the best newcomer in the front court in the country, IMO, and gets better with each game. Cannot wait to watch him do his thing in Chapel Hill. Despite the rough start to UNC's season, I fully expect a good matchup in late December, specifically between James McAdoo and Bennett.
Mike Moser dislocated his elbow tonight, so that will probably damper the matchup a little.

Just stop and I won't have to reply. The funny thing is, I would bet almost anything that you carefully worded that post to Az (which was plainly directed at me and my "prejudiced" Duke posts. Let's be real here) knowing that I would reply in the way that I did so that you could then call me out for "stalking you." I've seen you do this other people here before. You need some serious help.

Leave the personal BS at the door. Thanks.
lol, you're giving me a lot of credit here, mr. paranoia, and thank you for your diagnosis

Ah, I wondered why Moser only scored two points when I scanned the box score. I turned the game on late and didn't hear the announcers mention it. That's unfortunate.

Still, I think UNLV has the firepower to compete in Chapel Hill and win. At this point, they are a better all-around team than the Heels, IMO, even without Moser. But it will be very tough without him in such a tough road environment.

Illinois moves up into the top 10 in this week's AP poll. It's feasible that if Ohio State beats Kansas, and Florida beats Arizona, and Illinois beats Missouri, the B1G will have 5 of the top 10 teams in the poll when conference season rolls around (Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois, Minnesota)

    Seriously, WTF?

Ben McLemore is so fun to watch...dude can fucking ball

Bill Self called him the best player he's ever coached. Rising up on draft boards (recently saw him on one at #3 overall).

Watching him dunk is like watching old school Kobe Bryant

Ive been out of the country. Honest question. Does Indiana have the resume or future schedule to be number 1? I haven't seen them play yet. I just looked at their schedule and it appears after a cursory glance that their non-con schedule is weak. So to me it looks like they started there and simply haven't lost.
  • Azubuike24
It's definitely weak, but Georgetown, Butler and North Carolina should all be top 50 wins. None are great wins. The B1G should have many quality wins though, and IU should win a majority of their B1G games. I can't imagine them finishing with less than a dozen top 50 wins, which is usually plenty. They're also going to go like 30-4 or something, which will look great after conference play. The winner of what will most likely be the best conference in the nation should easily get a 1-seed.
  • Laley23
Their schedule took a major hit when UNC went down and UK/IU couldnt work out their issues. Butler is still going to be a great win numbers wise, just like GT and UNC, but none of them great teams, or games where you thought IU might lose going in.

Yeah..their NC is pretty weak. Some of that is still the lingering affects of them being horrible very recently and Crean scheduling wins, and the fact they lost UK for whatever reason. I liked it back in the day when they played UK in a "Nuetral" arena, alternating states and selling tickets 50/50 for each team. PEople tend to forget the two cupcake classics BK used to schedule back in the day as well...

but anyways...it doesnt really matter what the NC resume looks like for a big ten team. If they do very well in conference play they, or any number of the B10 teams ranked high right now do very well in their conference they will have a great chance at a top seed come march. Only thing that could derail the B10 from having a 1 seed is the winner of the conferance losing 5 + games in the conference and then losing early in the B10 tournament. It could happen as they looked stacked.

Laley, you do know that you single handedly jinxed IU vs butler and when they lose TC should blame you....

Really???? Why don't you just post what you wanted to say: "Duke has a better resume".You would have a good argument.

lol, maybe. But honestly, they should win that game by 15-20 pts. Dunham and Clarke wont have seen defenders like IU can throw at them all year.
  • reclegend22
While Clarke got his, Dunham looked like he was wearing a blindfold against Illinois' tight perimeter defense. He was completely lost. I agree that Indiana will be able to put the pressure on the freshman sharpshooter. And if Butler isn't hitting the three, it'll be over in a hurry. If Clarke can get near 30 and Andrew Smith is able to stretch the floor and hit some jumpers, the Bulldogs will have a chance.

I expect a fun game, regardless of the score. Finally, Butler and Indiana are both good teams when facing each other. A great in-state battle.

Really is no reason to even argue about 1 seeds or anything like that because they play it out anyways. Doesnt matter if you are a 1 or a 2 really...and maybe less pressure getting "snubbed" and getting a two seed.

For the hoosiers...I just hope by the time march rolls around they are playing their best ball and get a 3 seed or better. The big ten will be a nut roll and I think 3 losses in hte league will win it!

Three? Last year OSU, Michigan and Michigan State won the conference at 13-5 lol

Kentucky had to drop someone, that non-con schedule was nuts

I could see Indiana or Michigan easily only losing 3 games. It is a tough conference, the best really, but if they hold serve at home you only have to go 5-3 on the road. Very hard, but very doable.
