Ohio State Recruiting 2013

    Edit---Wrong thread lol

There's no question in my mind that Jalin Marshall will be a Buckeye, and I think it's VERY likely that Malik Zaire will be too. In fact, I'd say I'm 80% certain he will be. After that, I think there's a strong chance we can top it off with a combination of Eli Woodard and/or Robert Foster. Chances of landing all 5 (including Cam Burrows who is already verballed)... I'd say 45%. Chances of landing 4 of the 5... 65-70%, IMO.

5* jalin Marshall makes it official. Buckeye!!!

Not that we didn't already know about Marshall, but that is still good news! Kid is a stud.

The great thing about Marshall is he is already trying to get other kids to commit

Here is a tweet he sent Jaylon Smith (rod's little brother)
@JaeeSmiff9ENT Idk what your waiting in. Your next....

The thing I like most about Jalin Marshall is his desire to contribute however he can:
"I’m at Ohio State for wherever they put me," Marshall told the Middletown Journal. "They want me to come up there and throw for them. If they don’t like how I throw the ball, then I can be dangerous as an H-back. He’s going to use me in a lot of different ways."

Plus, he is a really good kid from a good family. I seriously doubt we ever hear of any problems from him whatsoever. With him and Burrows in the fold, look for them to help Urban and the staff land an incredible 2013 class.

I am glad these kids are committing early. Now we don't have to worry about the other Big Ten coaches recruiting them.

Well, Alvarez has already said recruiting should go on until they sign (Hoke too), but I guess Dantonio will leave them alone. He's such a "gentleman" after all. He'd never do anything like ditch an entire recruiting class after coming into a new job or use negative tactics to get a kid to switch schools...oh wait.

Seriously, I hope the OSU folks who used to talk so nicely about Dantonio have learned their lesson. Nobody is your bud if they are an opposing coach.

May have been mentioned on other threads but I see where Meyer will be bringing in Joe Haden & Tim Tebow to work out at OSU's facilities during the offseason. I'm assuming this is some sort of "work ethic" thing hoping it will rub off on all of the players?

I'm still a Mark Dantonio fan. I get that he's not happy about how things changed, but I thought he was a great assistant at OSU and I'll root for MSU as long as they aren't playing the bucks and he's their coach.

What is wrong with having some respect for an opposing coach? Its competition, things are said and done in the heat of the moment. It happens. He has already backtracked his comments. Dantonio is a HUGE reason OSU has the 2002 title. The guy as a defensive cooridinator was as good as they come.

Meyer mentioned in his BTN interview that he expected several former Florida players now in the NFL to be working out with the Buckeyes in the off season.

I wonder what's going to happen when the 2006 Gators are working alongside the 2006 Buckeyes in the offseason lol.

    His kids legit!

I've seen the kid play twice and he's damn good. On both accounts, he reminded me a bit of McFadden. A taller, fast, good vision RB. The video is their offense btw. I was amazed in the two games I went to that they ran the same play over and over and over again lol.

Did he run for 500+ yards in the game at Illinois?

500 yards in state championship game.

He also isn't visiting this weekend.

The company logo on the picture is ATI Physical Therapy. I worked there for 4 years. I am sure nobody cares, but it is cool to see a company that I was with when they had 4 clinics (now have 170 or so), that is located in Illinois, on a football site based in Ohio. Great company btw. If any of you are PTs, PTAs, OTs or OTAs looking for a great company, they are top notch.

Back to football. That is Joliet Catholic Academy football jpake1. They not only ran the same play, they have run the same play for 30 years, lol. They are very similar to Mooney and Ursuline in that their talent level outclasses the smaller public schools they see in the playoffs. Their toughest games are regular season games where they play the bigger Catholic schools in their conference. I don't say that as a bitter, or pot stirring. It is very contentious in Illinois over the "re-sizing" of the private schools. My oldest son attends a private school in Ohio and my 3 younger sons go to public schools in Illinois. Different state, same story.

    This kid is a stud!

I think that video is the definition of "If they can't stop it, keep running it"

He scored about 90% of his touchdowns on one play ran over and over, but the kid does look like the real deal.
  • thePITman
He didn't have to break many tackles, but had GREAT vision so that may have been one of the reasons. I would have liked to have seen a more well-rounded highlight film. But still, his vision and slight cuts to find the right lane were amazing.

Falcon- I kinda got the vibe that they've been doing it for awhile. I've only been out here in IL for two years, but each year I try and look on the scouting websites for some of the top seniors and juniors that are getting looks at top D1 programs and I'll try and catch a few games a year. I don't know how much you follow IL high school sports, but it seems to me that the Chicago area is really starting to produce A LOT of top talent; more so than I've been familiar with growing up.
