    1) Don't use Scout's rankings, they suck. Use Rivals.

    2) 24/7 does a pretty good job of tracking everyone who has an offer.

I too was looking to do something like this, but then decided it was too big of a waste of my time and that I would probably be better off just using one of the recruiting services. It is very appealing, however.

I started following recruiting on Scout.com when I was in HS, and for whatever reason I like it more than Rivals. If I get some time, I will try to put both Scout and Rivals rankings. I follow recruiting on most of the sites available for cheapskates that like free information. But, I'm a recruiting junkie, and I like keeping track of everything happening. . . so I figured. . .what the hell.

I actually like scout the only service that I think is terrible is ESPN.

    Scout is pretty bad.

247 is the best, and it's not even close.

Only 5 of the 38 are Ohio players.

It should not be understated. Meyer is going to have a much more national reach than Tressel did.
  • OneBuckeye
I expect every kid on that offer list with an OH after his name to commit early. Except for maybe Zaire and the kid from University heights. Meyer will be very selective about the kids from ohio in 2013 (which is loaded) good for scUM and their brother. The 2013 class will go down as one of the best classes in OSU history.

State of Ohio is supposed to have good talent in 2013, so I've heard.

There will be alot of schools reaping the benefits of a strong 2013 class in Ohio.

Don't get me wrong, I like to get great players nationally, but I'd rather win with Ohio kids.

That's what I've gathered as well. Meyer is probably out getting offers to out-of-staters to get in their ear, knowing he can offer Ohio kids later with greater chance of landing them.

Any guesses on how much space Ohio State will have for 2013?

I don't know the exact number but I read where it will be on the smaller side.

When does the actual scholly cut start? 2012 or 2013?

    2012. Its 82 for 3 years.

Urban's toughest recruiting battle in 2013 will be Dymonte Thomas. I don't know if he will be able to flip him but he will try.

This is a guess based on a quick look at the roster, and assuming OSU will be at the 82 scholarships this year. We have 14 players that will be seniors that are definitely on scholarship. The other guys i've never heard of, so I assume they are probably walk-ons. So I'll say 14 for sure, probably closer to 17/18 when it's all said and done.

I would take Thomas but I think the biggest commit after marshall is a wr Robert Foster out of PA. That kid looks like the real deal.
  • OneBuckeye
No doubt, but we already lead there. Thomas has been commited to scUM for some time.

You can watch it live here for those interested:

Fully expect him to be a Buckeye but there's a solid 12 months for him to change his mind lol.
