They have a better chance of getting Vince Lombardi to coach themkaren lotz;993446 wrote:Penn State will talk to ...Nick Saban -
jordo212000Natives are restless in Maryland already. Lots are soured on Edsall already and are unhappy with the team's success. Apparently some miss "The Fridge"

OSHWestern Carolina is open.

Little DannyWashington State just canned their coach.
-
mucalum49Little Danny - As one of our resident Bearcat fans, is there any worry that Butch Jones is leaving for one of these openings?

Little Danny
He's being openly courted for the Illinois, UCLA and UNC jobs. There are concerns as he is well respected in the coaching community and is thought to be an up and coming coach (FWIW Jim Tressel told UC's former AD (now Illinois AD) a couple years ago that Butch was the best young coach in the country). UC's new AD was quoted in the Enquirer today they are working on doing what they can to keep him in Cincinnati.mucalum49;994269 wrote:Little Danny - As one of our resident Bearcat fans, is there any worry that Butch Jones is leaving for one of these openings? -
Falcons53I don't see Saban leaving Alabama for Penn State. The other two mentioned may consider, but Penn State will not pay Saban $5-$6 million a year. Paterno made $1 million and people around Pennsylvania were pissed a state employee made that much.

True story.karen lotz;995012 wrote:my sources say Mike Leach to Wazzu -
OSHKirby Wilson is interviewing at Illinois. Paul Chryst has interviewed. There is interest in further discussions with Kevin Sumlin, Pat Narduzzi (Michigan State DC) and Todd Monken.
Kevin Sumlin is supposedly at the top of the UCLA list.
UMass has interest from Jack Bicknell Jr., assistant offensive line coach with the Giants.
Memphis has interest from Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks coach, and former Memphis offensive coordinator, Randy Fichtner. -

Watching SportsCenter about the Mike Leach story right now... I am referred to as "Sources" ... interesting. -
jordo212000Sumlin would be a good get for UCLA
-
Little DannyTexas A&M gives Mike Sherman his walking papers.
Add them to the list. -
karen lotzCarl Pelini was offered the Florida Atlantic job and is expected to accept.
-
MulvaSome radio host in Kansas says a source tells him Mack Brown will retire from Texas after the Baylor game.
A lot of Sumlin to Arizona State talk right now. That's interesting because he was thought to be a frontrunner for UCLA and UNC. I think Arizona State is the least attractive of those 3 jobs personally.
I haven't seen any candidates talked about for the A&M opening yet, but I think Larry Fedora and Kirby Smart would be 2 good choices for them. I was more listing Fedora because of the success he's had as an OC and now at Southern Miss, but I just looked it up and he's actually from College Station. -
karen lotzSaw that about Mack earlier but it didn't really blow up like it should if it were indeed the case. Who knows?
-
OSHSumlin is a top candidate for the A&M job now that Sherman is gone.
Sumlin was an assistant there in the early 2000s. -

I remember Carl as the HC at Austintown Fitch. Good for him!karen lotz;997419 wrote:Carl Pelini was offered the Florida Atlantic job and is expected to accept. -
cats gone wildSo we have Gus Malzahn interviewing for UNC, Kirby Smart possibly to Ole Miss, Sumlin to A&M, and Petersen says no to UCLA. Who's going to ASU
-
OSHColorado State needs a coach. Tim Duffie is the interim right now.
Tulane's new coach is supposedly New Orleans Saints wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson.
Pat Hill at Fresno State was relieved of his duties.
Larry Fedora is in the mix at UNC and Kansas. Troy Calhoun, at Air Force, is on the UNC shortlist too.
Joe Glenn will be the new coach at South Dakota, he was previously head coach at Wyoming in 2008.
Ole Miss is supposedly hiring Hugh Freeze.
Arizona State is supposedly hiring June Jones.
Garrick McGee is new coach at UAB. -
MulvaIf that ASU rumor is true I'd be bummed out that Sumlin isn't gonna end up at UCLA. Bringing in him, RichRod, June Jones, and Leach during the offseason. Pac-12 wouldn't even pretend to play defense anymore.
-
Little DannyI can't remember a year when so many coaches were relieved of their duties.
The message is not just win, you have to win big to keep your job anymore. -

RichRod is bringing together a lot of his former staff members to Arizona with him.Mulva;1002103 wrote:If that ASU rumor is true I'd be bummed out that Sumlin isn't gonna end up at UCLA. Pitt's tight ends/recruiting coordinator Tony Dews, co-offensive coordinator/running backs coach Calvin Magee, and secondary coach Tony Gibson were all with RichRod at Michigan and will be reunited again. -

Funny that he was a chiq candidate a few years back because of his connection to Bellichick. As time went on, I think a lot of people realized that New England's success came largely from Brady and Bellichick.OSH;1002097 wrote:Pat Hill at Fresno State was relieved of his duties. -
gorocks99Larry Fedora (Southern Miss) is headed to UNC. I like the hire.
