It is being reported in a bunch of different places and is blowing up on Twitter. Curious to hear what Meyer has to say

SI reported it on one of their blogs, citing Sportsbybrooks. Not saying they are wrong, but when they actually have a source they will publish an article.

Sportsbybrooks just tweeted that Pat Dooley said that he received a text from Urban saying that there is "no truth to it."

    Take that FWIW

    That's what I was thinking.

I know a friend of my dads who works with Griffin is laughable. But I'm just passing it along with full disclosure. It's at the point where I think some of these rumors are gaining credibility.

His current column seems pretty ridiculous.

Wouldn't mind John Cooper making a return. Won a lot of big games!

    Herbie as a coach lol

Pat Dooley asked Urban if he accepted the job at OSU. Technically, that is still correct. All inside sources are reporting Urban has agreed to the deal in principle, however, both parties are waiting on the season and NCAA issues to play out. OSU has a conference call scheduled with the NCAA on Nov 28.

Btw, the private plane flew back to Gainsville this afternoon. It was in Columbus for roughly 40 hours.

Remember that ESPN reported Stoops to ND... http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/01/stoops-blasts-espn-reports-says-theyve-all-been-wrong/... don't jump on these rumors. Talks like these break through all the time

Stoops wanted a few things that the administration wouldn't give, that's what held the whole thing up.

Bring him back for recruiting purposes.

That's what made things go slow; Oklahoma's lawsuit threat ended it altogether. I had heard he wanted control of disciplinary matters too, but it'd appear Kelly almost has that

You mean that offense that is 17th in the country in scoring this year averaging 36.5 points per game and that has scored over 40 in six of their ten games?

That offense / team is undefeated as well. That has to mean something?

Let's get a few things clear here.

    1. No one is reporting that Meyer and OSU have signed a contract, just that they have agreed in principle to get married.

    2. No formal announcement is going to be made until the regular season is over.

    3. Meyer won't officially take over until January 11, 2012, because Fickell's contract runs through Jan 10 and the university isn't going to terminate him before that.

    4. Even though it's very unlikely that OSU will receive any severe additional penalties from the NCAA beyond what has been self imposed, it's unlikely that OSU and Meyer would officially agree on the deal before that is final.

    5. If Vegas were to put odds on the OSU coaching position at this point it would be more likely than not that Meyer is the coach next year in Columbus.

Did OSU join the SEC? They will have to beat a team from the SEC to get a title and we all know how that goes.

lol at the people who are saying that this would be a bad hire or question why Urban Meyer would ever come to OSU--blah, blah, blah...what are you afraid of? IMO, the cynical OSU fans are afraid he won't stay around long, and the OSU haters are just afraid of what a Meyer coached squad will do to their team. He's a helluva football coach, and his teams win championships, and I want him on the Buckeye sidelines as our head football coach next season...period.

I hope he goes there. I would like to see how hyped up OSU will be in the years he's here. And it will be funny to see how many people will love on him after they hated him and ripped on him while he was at UF. Plus he always got ripped for all the players getting in trouble at UF. OSU needs him, no question about it. I would like to see what he can do at OSU, but Im still wondering why he would want to coach when he says he wants to be a family man ("put God and family first") and his health problems.
