I don't see him accepting anything without knowing what the NCAA will do as far as infractions go.

Perhaps as a formality. But I think they have a good idea what they are getting, and it won't be anything bad enough to keep him from taking the job. I think any punishment bad enough to keep him from accepting would be shocking punishment to most of us.

I know someone who is sleeping with Gene Smith's wife (me) and they said that Brian Kelly is going to be OSU's next coach.

Went to bed feeling pretty certain about Urban Meyer becoming the next OSU coach. Will just say we are even more certain now.

Both parties waiting to hear from NCAA, but as long as the Association doesn't bring the hammer, announcement to be made w/in weeks.
Apparently Bently is "hearing" same things and is posting so on facebook FWIW

Don't know about the contract, but I'll say FALSE on calling him a Toledo native. He is from Ashtabula.

People who report this stuff should really do their homework on the simple facts.

The NCAA isnt going to do much more than what the University has already self-imposed.

It wouldn't be the first time the NCAA has done something incredibly stupid.

Hopefully writerbuckeye will STFU now, but I doubt it.

Hmmm...a former writer not checking the simple facts before blasting a current one?

One of the guys here on base that I've been pretty good friends with, is a Florida gator fan. He called last night and said if urban goes to osu, I'm done with him. I said, ok once it's official I'll have someone let him know you're done with him, but I doubt he'll care. He eventually admitted he's just butt hurt over it!!

He said all his family back in Tampa is hearing the same news.

I took the buy side on a derivative with a friend that Urban is coming to coach at OSU. I get a $1000 if he does, and it expires at the start of next season.

It was not written by an OSU blogger, so its journalistic garbage, right?

LOL at Spielman saying this isn't true. How would he know what Meyer (or his agent) are doing behind the scenes? It might not be true, but I just find it funny that Spielman is out there preaching that it isn't. He probably hopes that he is getting the job despite the fact he refuses to work his way through the ranks like everybody else.

He works with him, im sure he has somewhat of an idea, and I doubt he is expecting the job to be given to him.

NCAA penalties are going to be severe and going to be for two years at least. He won't take the job.

What do you think the penalties will be?
  • Midstate01
Funny you say that. Since most the experts don't expect the penalties to be bad at all.

So, last night's tweet generated a bit of chatter, eh?
Responses to that tweet break down between outright jubilation (70%), proper skepticism (25%) and efforts to discredit us by some in more traditional media (5%).
While we can't blame the skeptics, it's worth pointing out our track record. We hear a ton of things, but only come forward with things we're virtually certain about. Like this. Or this. We were flamed for breaking both of those, but, you know how they turned out.
Before we dive into what we do know, it's important to point out what we're not saying:
    • Urban Meyer was not in Columbus yesterday or anytime in the last couple of weeks.
    • There is no contract in place between Urban Meyer and Ohio State. Nothing signed, whatsoever.
Now, here's what we do know based off of multiple sources that have a proven track record with delivering timely information to us:
    • There has long been mutual interest between Ohio State and Urban Meyer.
    • Urban has agreed in principle to take the position next year. Numbers have been exchanged and agreed upon via back-channel talks.
    • Ohio State and Meyer are waiting for the NCAA to deliver their verdict, after which time, the announcement of Meyer as the new head coach will take place.
    • Both parties are on the same page with regards to what they expect to hear from the NCAA. Both parties believe the NCAA's punishment will not be an obstacle to Meyer taking the job.
    • While early December has been floated, the university is hoping to hear back from the NCAA later this month.
    • LSU offensive coordinator Greg Studrawa, a Fostoria native who coached with Meyer at Bowling Green, is very much in play to become a member of Meyer's staff at Ohio State.
That's what we know at this time. We'll continue to deliver news that we're confident in as it comes our way. We have a five year history of being conservative with what we break and we're proud of not rushing to break news just to break it.

Honestly, do we really want LSU's offensive coordinator? They have to have one of the most inept offense in US history.

Do you know why he is LSU's OC right now?
