  I really don't know what most on here expected, and I don't know why you rip on the players. The team is only missing its best QB, best RB, best WR and a starting linemean., and you expect this offense to go, go, go with back ups and freshman and rookie head coaches. Well at least we'll be getting them back next week....oh, wait, we seem to be missing a star QB! The NCAA handed down a 5 game suspension for their mistakes ( and that's it!).... but the deep thinking 'powers that be' at my alma mater decided that wasn't enough. We had to prove to the cheaters in the SEC that we were the best at self immolation....and we did just that. I don't see a whole lot of the other 'cheaters' falling all over themselves to vacate wins, fire their head coach and run their QB out of school. I don't care if Pryor was an a**hole, and Tressel lied. The sad truth is that OSU went far beyond what the NCAA handed down as punishment, and now we (OSU fans) are paying the price for the administration's mea culpa.

  Only if saying things that make you go, "WTF" is vanilla. Like, Fickell said the game plan was to run the ball early and when they couldn't do that, they were in a bind. I guess those kinds of binds must be unbreakable, since we never tried anything different.
  
  He really should just refrain from answering questions about the offense since he's not involved with it. That answer is just stupid.

  I'll agree with writer...if that was the game plan, that was just stupid. It was painfully obvious the week before, that they were not going to let Miller throw much. Everybody in the world knew that they would run first....including the coaches at Mich State. who just stuffed the run and blitzed.

  Hahaha . . . that's funny. Bauserman might be the only QB I've ever seen who can overthrow a WR by 20 yards, then throw one sort of on target, then bounce one in the dirt 10 yards in front of a receiver.

  Honestly I think the "authority" vacuum left by Tressel's departure is hurting this team the most right now. Most programs can overcome a few suspended players, or a horrible QB situation, but this program looks pretty lifeless right now (although the defense looks OK).
  
  A previous poster mentioned the coaches look like lame ducks, and that seems pretty evident right now. Although that's not entirely the coaches' fault- the ineptitude starts at the top, with Smith and Gee, and trickles down to the coaching staff, and then shows up on the field.
  
  2004 was pretty bleak for awhile, but it seems like this is much worse. I'm seeing at least 4-5 more losses this year.

  I could see the Bucks easily finishing really low in the Big 10..like only ahead of Minnesota and somewhere mixed in with Purdue and Indiana.
  Give Graham or Guiton a shot. Dont play Miller just because of his name. He has looked decent against Akron and Colorado and horrible in every other game. There is no point in playing Bauserman. He isnt going to win you any games. Play for the future.

  • Jordan Hall said they practice screens and misdirection, but the coaches didn't use it today.

  It's pretty sad that someone had to ask whether those types of plays are even practiced.

  Based on the comments let Jordan Hall call the damn plays. At least he understands more short passes and screens should have been used. God forbid you use a screen if they blitz.

  If Tressel didn't strike that deal with Pryor chances are good he wouldn't have been back anyway. Here's what I assume OSU fans expected from an outsiders perspective coming in to this year, its a long list so bare with me: 1) a competent offense capable of sparingly producing points as well as gradually working to improve turnovers in an effort to assist the defense in winning football games. Oh wait, that's not a long list, not to mention I can name much more prolific offenses missing many more components than what OSU is out of with suspensions from last year.
  
  The worst thing you can do right now is talk about the Vest or Pryor because they aren't coming back. Keep rooting for your team and good things have to come at some point.

  Eh.....Ohio State's mea culpa complex aside, this is OHIO STATE. Each and every kid sitting on that bench are there because the Buckeyes recruited them. They recruited them because they are allegedly capable of stepping into an elite program and doing the job.
  
  The Buckeyes should have enough reserve talent on their bench to put together something that resembles a Big 10 offense, but they are beyond pathetic. Miller looks dazed and confused, the O-line was man-handled, they apparently don't understand Miller's snap counts, and the receivers look like high schoolers against Big 10 DB's.
  
  I never expected Ohio State to be a national champion under these circumstances, but let's just say I could have put the Ohio Bobcats offensive unit out there yesterday and stood a much better chance of allowing the Buckeye defense to beat Sparty.
  
  As far as Fickell is concerned it is painfully obvious he is in way over his head. He knows it, the administration knows it, and so does the world. If the hunt for a real head coach hasn't begun THE Ohio State University is run by bigger idiots than I imagined.
  
  Looking at the remaining schedule (even with the return of the remaining Tattooed 5) the Buckeyes will get hammered by Nebraska, annihilated by Wisky, and lose to Meeeesheegin. Illinois, Penn State and Purdue are toss-ups. Hell, the way Indiana played against Penn State the Buckeyes might even have a tough time against Hoosiers.
  
  Gonna be a long, tough season. If anyone ever wanted the experience of watching a game in The Shoe, this would be the year to buy the tickets.

  We have never seen an offense this bad at OSU. I understand that they're missing talent because of the suspensions but there is no excuse for that. We are talking about Ohio State, easily a top 5 program over the past two decades. I have a really hard time believing that Guiton or Graham couldnt do better than what we saw yesterday, they certainly cant do any worse. Did Luke really think Bauserman was going to provide a spark off the bench?

  and Im tired of everyone hating on Howard. It looked like he got beat alot of the times because we played damn zone coverage almost all day where he had flats and was trying to catch up for the safety not getting over to his deep half. He did get beat a few times..the touchdown catch (which was still good coverage) and a few other. Cunningham is a real good receiver.

  Not trying to dog on a college kid, but from a football standpoint, his poor play yesterday cannot be defended. Even if you overlook the multitude of times he was burned in coverage, how many times was he dragged 7 yards after "making a tackle." Rough, rough afternoon for Mr. Howard ...

  Yes, the MSU player blocked in the back. But the announcers were saying that because it was in the tackle box it was legit. I don't know the specific rules one way or another so I just took their word on it.

  You can't lose all your playmakers and expect to contend for the title...it would have been hard enough with those guys AND a National Champioship coach.
  
  I understand that..."the helmet" alone should be worth 6 wins...and it will be.
  But , let's keep it real. The plug was pulled on the season when Tressel was let go, and Pryor was run out of school.
