Michigan State def. Ohio State, 10-7
-
se-alumI still want to see OSU mix in some screen plays.
-
TiernanDantonio will figuratively throw his hat in the ring for the OSU job by trying to paste the Buckeyes. Experienced QB will be the difference by 10+.
-
se-alumThis is a pivotal game for Braxton. I think if he performs well, he'll have the confidence to go into Nebraska and give OSU a chance to win.
-
FatHobbitI just looked at MSU's schedule. For the next four games they play @OSU, UM, Wisconsin and @Nebraska.
That's a pretty rough stretch even with OSU being average at best. -
WriterbuckeyeNo way to really tell how good MSU is at this point. But we do know their offense is pretty good with Cousins and the running back from Columbus. Hopefully, the defense will tackle better in this game. They were really bad at Miami, and had some awful spells against Colorado.
If OSU can find a way to make MSU play honest on defense (they'll obviously stack the line to start the game), then the Buckeyes have a chance in this game. If not, it could be a long afternoon. -
jhay78The optimistic side of me sees the offense playing turnover free, Braxton making a few plays, and the young skill players stepping up big, while the defense forces Cousins and MSU to make some mistakes.
The pessimistic side of me sees Dantonio throwing the kitchen sink at Braxton Miller and sending OSU's offense into organized chaos.
I'm preparing for the worst:
MSU 27
OSU 13 -
OneBuckeyeOhio State by 10.
-
Scarlet_BuckeyeI'll be SHOCKED if MSU puts up 28 points. Not saying OSU is going to win, just saying I will be shocked if MSU is able to score that many on OSU's staunch defense.
-
bo shemmy3337I got OSU in this one. I don't think MSU is very good and they play a simple style which will benefit OSU's Defense.
-
JU-ICEField position will be key in this one, if MSU can force most of OSU drives to start inside their 35, I am not sure OSU can sustain enough drives to win. On the flip side, if OSU can keep MSU at 17 points or under, I think the Bucks will win.

dat dudeIn recruiting news, Adolphus Washington (6'6" 240 lbs DE) had a monster game for Taft. He finished with 10 tackles, 6 TFL, 3 sacks and a forced fumble. Oh, and he caught a TD AND returned a punt for a TD. Tremendous athleticism. A must-get for the OSU staff.

Big Gain
Dantonio knows this might be his best chance to beat Ohio State EVER. He has closed his practices this week.centralbucksfan;910732 wrote:Big fan of Dantonio and I think he will come in with a good defensive game plan to confuse Miller, and stack the line against the run. If Miller/OSU can't throw the ball any better, it could be a long afternoon. The defense needs to be consistant. At times, they look very good. And at times, they tend to fall asleep. Being at home will definately help OSU. But I think MSU might have just a bit more at this time. -
charliehustle14Will Nathan Williams be back this week? I think he's been overlooked since getting hurt, but he's been a huge loss on defense. Losing him is like the Packers losing Clay Matthews. I'm not saying Williams = Matthews, but what he brings to the table with his pass rushing ability and athleticism is as equally important to what Clay brings to the Packers D.

No. No Williams. Maybe not for another two weeks. And it has hurt this defense a lot -- especially the linebackers. They've had to fight off blocks that Williams would otherwise have occupied, and it has hurt their positioning. Plus, this year's linebackers simply don't have the speed and agility of past groups.charliehustle14;911989 wrote:Will Nathan Williams be back this week? This is not one of OSU's typically "staunch" defenses of past years. Losing out on some key stud linebackers, and injuries to McVey and Crowell have left that as a thin area where it once was full of riches.
Hopefully, they can restock the position this recruiting season. -

DeyDurkie5I'll be at this game. First buckeyes football game I have attended. Definitely can't wait to see how the shoe is on game days. Hopefully they pull out the W.

I hope you get kicked out. -
lhslep134Had a bad feeling about the Miami game, feeling a lot better about this one.
Bucks find a way to get it done in the Big 10 20-17 over MSU. -

I won't.ernest_t_bass;912054 wrote:I hope you get kicked out. -

I think that he is too slow to be a great linebacker as is Klein, watch them and you will see how many plays they don't quite get to because of lack of speed (not lack of effort) I would just like to see more of Shazier who seems to make plays every time he gets a chance to play (great speed and natural instincts for the position) I'm not saying don't play Sweat and Klein just work the kids in more than is currently being done.elbuckeye28;911574 wrote:I think Sweat has been our most consistent linebacker. -

No worries. I should also add that I meant without the suspended players I don't think OSU can hang with mediocore teams. Once they get those 4 players back and Miller gets some more reps, the Bucks should be decent. I'm thinking 3-4 losses this season.Tiger2003;911585 wrote:I got ya. Read it to fast. -

I like it...btw, Roby is starting over Grant....I'd like to see Clarke start over Howard, who IMO got abused last week.OneBuckeye;912719 wrote:Depth Chart released. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/osu/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2011-12/release/release_20110926aaa.pdf

Roby and Howard are both good corners. I think Clarke has the chance to be a GREAT corner. He has athletic ability and ball skills that the other two don't. The problem is Roby and Howard haven't screwed up enough to lose their position. Howard go beat on one play where he didn't turn his head and then got beat on another where he miss timed his jump after the QB had all day to throw. I wouldn't say he got abused.vball10set;912722 wrote:I like it...btw, Roby is starting over Grant....I'd like to see Clarke start over Howard, who IMO got abused last week.
