  If Bauserman was able to progress through his reads, there isn't as much of a need for a strong run game. Because Bauserman keeps his head trained on his main target, the lack of a run game is even more evident because he can't convert anything longer than a 3rd and 5.
  
  I'd rather have Miller in who can make plays with his feet to gain yards than have to rely on our patchwork offensive line to put Bauserman in workable 3rd down situations.
  
  Obviously the easy answer is have a strong run game, but against Miami's front 7 I just don't see it.

  Harris is the least of my concerns. He is the definition of terrible.

  It was brought to my attention that we were spoiled by TP's ability to gain 6 or 7 yards when there was nothing there, as opposed to JB just throwing the ball away. IMO Miller would give them this option again, but obviously the coaches don't feel he's ready, and who knows better than the guys who see him every day in practice.

  The OSU offense has never been designed to consistently convert anything over a 3rd and 5. That is why the years OSU lacks a running game, it shows even more.

  There is obviously a reason that the coaching staff hasn't played him much. My guess is he turns the ball over or makes really bad decisions. As lackluster as Bauserman was last week, if Miller really was ready and that much better, he would have played. Plus, a freshman on the road always needs a solid running game. Doesn't matter who the freshman is.

  We were spoiled by TP last year in general. You know, I have been on forums like this since about 2000, and I honestly cannot remember a full season that people didn't bitch or argue about the OSU QB. The Troy Smith Heisman season was probably about as close as it comes, but hell, TP had comparable stats to that season last year. OSU fans always seem to be pining for the next guy. Hell, one day they were talking QB's on the radio and Krenzel was the guest host and a guy called in and said "yeah you remember that game at Wisconsin that OSU lost in 2003? Scotty McMullen was the best QB on the team and should have been playing that day" with actual hate in his voice. I think that really sums up vocal OSU fans feelings towards OSU QBs

  I understand wanting perfection, but christ, people couldn't wait for Braxton Miller to come based solely just off of TP's play on the field.

  My buddy on the team said he practiced all week and the "dinged up" wasn't much more than just sitting out plays here and there for a rest. The coaching staff even then said that had nothing to do with him not playing.

  I'm excited to see Miller as much as the next guy, but let's face it, the people who think Miller is better, are just making baseless claims. The Buckeyes have scored 28(21 by the offense) and 42 points in their two games. Two Rod Smith fumbles have likely cost us 2 touchdowns. Until Bauserman shows that they just can't score points with him running the team, I'm okay w/ him playing. Fickell will mix in Miller where he sees fit.

  Nate Williams had his knee scoped and is out for Miami. It's considered a minor scope, so he should return pretty soon, and isn't expected to miss too many games.
  
  This hurts OSU's depth and pass rushing, obviously. OSU will be even younger on the DL for this game.

  Hm I read in the Plain Dealer he missed all of practice on Tuesday.
  
  Regardless, I either want to see more Miller or a better job of passing from Bauserman.

  Given the expected heat and humidity, and the gargantuan size of the Miami OL, I'm gonna say every available DL will be in the rotation to try and keep people fresh. Hopefully, no more fluid IV's are needed where people miss long periods of the game like Simon did last week.

  Another factor in this game is how the younger and less experienced members of the Buckeyes handle their first road game, with the different surroundings, different hotel, different routine, etc. IMO, this is where we find out who the true leaders of this team are, and that will go a long way in determining our success moving forward....GO BUCKS!!!

  Like I said... done for this season. After this season, sure... he can try to prove himself again and work himself into getting some touches, and then we'll re-evaluate his performance.

  Maybe, but I doubt it...players nowadays just transfer when they have to sit, so coaches tend to handle them differently..just sayin'

  If Smith is coachable at all, the fumbling thing can be corrected. If he's not, well there are two more stud running backs already committed to the Buckeyes for next season and he'll just drop further down the depth chart.
  
  I'm going to guess Jordan Hall gets the bulk of the carries (along with Hyde) on Saturday. It was funny: the O-Zone reporter was told by Bollman that Hall was starting, and by Fickell that Hyde was starting.
  
  Perhaps they need to have a cage match (Bollman and Fickell). :laugh:
