I would like to increase your reps, but I can't. I heard some guy named "Tommy Boy" messed that up.WebFire;883199 wrote:SMH. If you like your coach to look like an out of control **** on the sideline, it makes me no difference. It is my OPINION that it is not a good thing. -

Case in point: Nick Saban going off on backup qb last year when Alabama has the game put away. I guess it's okay if the team is in the lead, lol. This one was a little physical as well.ytownfootball;883719 wrote:I don't think anyone is "appalled" by it, honestly it's football lol. The media will have a camera on the guy from here on out though I'm willing to bet, which will exacerbate the issue, no different than Pellini. Like I said earlier, if they're winning it looks educational, if they're losing, it looks as though he's losing his marbles. It is what it is.

As far as I know, actions like this haven't scared any recruits off from attending Bama. -

IMO, the fans of the team involved will usually defend their coach's actions, and fans of other teams will criticize the coach's actions-unless, of course, said coach is on the hot seat. This is football, and with all the rules and regulations leaning towards taking the aggressiveness out of the sport, it's good to see some good old fashioned hard nosed, in your face, reaming out--just like football oughta' be.karen lotz;883768 wrote:http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/notre-dame-football/62305-thought-bk-went-too-far-yesterday.html
A lot of Notre Dame fans are saying the same stuff and aren't blindly defending Kelly so there goes that theory.
I have zero problems with Kelly's actions and am kind of surprised he didn't yell a lot more. He had plenty of other opportunities. Also, TJ Jones has tweeted several times and said nothing negative about it, he said he and team are moving on from the game and getting prepared from Michigan. -
centralbucksfanI didn't read this entire thread..but I don't think Kelly actions were out of line at all. Now, out of character, most definately. Kelly has always been known as very mild manner coach on the sideline. For him to lose his cool like that was a bit surprising. Maybe feeling some pressure. Who knows. Shit happens.

Not out of character at all. He has even talked about his sideline demeanor in previous stops. Maybe he didn't scream until his face turned purple, but he is definitely a fiery coach on the sidelines.centralbucksfan;884356 wrote:I didn't read this entire thread..but I don't think Kelly actions were out of line at all. SportsAndLadyI wonder how many times cbf actually has seen a BK coached game....that has always been his thing, to go apeshit.

I was wondering the same.SportsAndLady;884368 wrote:I wonder how many times cbf actually has seen a BK coached game....that has always been his thing, to go apeshit. -

Well..I realize he has been a bit firey. But as mentioned, he came out of his skin in this game. To the point that he looked very uncomfortable/ unsure of how to handle the situation. I'd call that a bit out of character for him.karen lotz;884364 wrote:Not out of character at all. He has even talked about his sideline demeanor in previous stops. karen lotzDid you watch the game and see the repeated boneheaded mistakes by veteran players being made? I don't know any coach that wouldn't have been a little more animated than normal when you take that into consideration.
-
centralbucksfan
I did watch. And don't totally disagree with you. But I think he went overboard to the point that it didn't go over well with his team. Maybe thats part of why the players continued to make mistakes...fearful of how the coach might react. There comes a point, that a coach has to show confidence and calm in tough situations. Not completely lose their cool. I think there are certain points in a game when a coach is able to lose his cool, and points were they should never lose their cool. Kelly looked out of control at bad times IMO.karen lotz;884405 wrote:Did you watch the game and see the repeated boneheaded mistakes by veteran players being made? karen lotzYeah you're right, after the 3rd turnover inside the 5 yard line, which happened to involve a ball hitting a WR in the head because he wasn't looking, he should have just stood there shot rainbows up everyone's asses.
-

Kelly should be yelling at his coaching staff and himself for obviously not having the team prepared well enough to execute in the red zone.:laugh:karen lotz;884423 wrote:Yeah you're right, after the 3rd turnover inside the 5 yard line, which happened to involve a ball hitting a WR in the head because he wasn't looking, he should have just stood there shot rainbows up everyone's asses. -

He did that too.. -

Pretty unreasonable reasoning there. If those mistakes are still happening in a week, then that becomes an issue.Skyhook79;884451 wrote:Kelly should be yelling at his coaching staff and himself for obviously not having the team prepared well enough to execute in the red zone.
If anything, since the game wasn't a talent issue, a speed issue, or even an X's and O's issue....I am much more confident about this team moving forward. This was mental mistakes, and while you can always place some blame on the staff (and Kelly embraces it, doesn't disagree with it) it would be idiotic to say Kelly lost this team the game. Save that response for Tulsa-like endings. -
Hamp89BK at today's presser: "I'm an emotional coach and I have to realize the camera is on me more than I'm used to. I need to do a better job controlling my emotions".

TiernanHey can someone help me? I'm looking for the Brian Kelly Era Begins (Ascends?) thread...has anyone seen it? He's a really great coach and I'm sure he will do great things at ND in 5 - 6 years after he's able to get his system in place and actually recruit some D1 players.

karen lotzYou are only 2 days late with that one OB, not too bad.
Kelly's initial response to the question about his sideline demeanor was along these lines: "Did I hit somebody? What exactly are you talking about?" -

I figured it was buried in this thread, but it needed a bump.karen lotz;884944 wrote:You are only 2 days late with that one OB, not too bad.
