No. I know from paying attention to practice reports and what the PLAYERS said.karen lotz;883043 wrote:And you know Hoke is much more effective after a weather shortened win over Western Michigan? -

People used to bitch about Weis cussing and how he dressed, etc too.
Some people will just find reasons to criticize others. -

I agree with what you're getting at. Regardless of what players and practice reports say....how effective his style is will show on the field and there's not enough data to determine that yet. -

What did the players say then? They like Hoke better because he doesn't yell at them?
I agree his system (offense/defense schemes) are better suited for Michigan and the Big Ten than RichRod's were. What happens when things aren't going Michigan's way during the course of a game and players make repeated mistakes? He comes off as a pretty intense guy to me, and I don't think he will just pat players on the butt and say "Its ok, we'll get em next time!" -

And 3/4's of a game.....WebFire;883053 wrote:No. I know from paying attention to practice reports and what the PLAYERS said.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but your statement requires a little more than 3/4's of game as proof, not just preseason reports. What happens if UM loses the rest of their games (not going to happen, but hypothetically)? Then would Hoke be any better? -

SMH. If you like your coach to look like an out of control asshole on the sideline, it makes me no difference. It is my OPINION that it is not a good thing.karen lotz;883112 wrote:Yes because he doesn't yell at his players! -

What happens? Nothing. Because my opinion that acting like that is not something I would want my coach doing. You guys are taking this to the extreme to defend your coach. I get that. But I am not talking about "yelling" at players. All coaches do that. I'm talking about looking like an out of control idiot with veins popping out your head and spit flying.lhslep134;883108 wrote:And 3/4's of a game.....

There was one time they showed Kelly ripping some ass, and when he turned his head, the player gave a look like he wanted to punch him in the face. I bet that was effective.
I'm all for intensity and accountablity, but Kelly reminded me of RR and his epic sideline meltdowns. The result seemed to be about the same too. A LOSS. -

I'd prefer him to not have to get to that point. When players who have played a lot of football and are supposed to be solid contributors this year make repeated horrible mental mistakes, I don't have a problem with him yelling. -
Crimson streakHe yelled at upper class man that have started the past 2 years. He wouldn't yell at a freshman like that. It's no big deal
-
Laley23Fact is, not many teams will have a chance to get that worked up and pissed, cause not many of their teams will turn it over inside the 5 three times, along with 2 others. Make retarded penalties all game, etc. I think a lot more coaches would react that way in that situation than people realize.

Was the WR wearing #7 a two year starter?Crimson streak;883241 wrote:He yelled at upper class man that have started the past 2 years. He wouldn't yell at a freshman like that. It's no big deal -
slingshot4everNope, TJ Jones is a sophomore and only started about half the games as a frosh. Stop posting bullshit crimson.

Started last year until injuries slowed him. He started yesterday and will continue to start so he is a 2 year starter. Bottom line is he has played enough football to know to get his head around and make himself available on a crossing route. He is also an early enrollee and is probably ND's 2nd most experienced WR in terms of snaps played at the position. -

EXACTLY. You never see Kelly turn red with furor in a teaching moment. Only a moronic coach does that. You yell when players make mistakes that they simply shouldn't. Clearly, Notre Dame fucked up in epic proportions on Saturday. They "shot themselves in the head."Laley23;883382 wrote:Fact is, not many teams will have a chance to get that worked up and pissed, cause not many of their teams will turn it over inside the 5 three times, along with 2 others. I'd be lobster red too.
And TJ Jones should know what he's doing. Arguing semantics is retarded. He's is Notre Dame's #2 WR and not new to the game, system, or Brian Kelly. -
Tobias FünkeAccording to the interwebz...
of all of the college games played thus far, Notre Dame's offensive output was good enough to rank #15 in yardage, to add to the bizarreness, USF's offensive output was 13th smallest, thus making Notre Dame's defense #13 in yardage.
#15 in offense, #13 in defense...and you lose. hahahaha wowzers.
Factor in that they weren't playing a scrub team like most teams, and it makes the numbers even more impressive. -

His 2nd year starting so you can Stfu now. Go worry about keeping your program clean instead of Brian Kelly yelling at his players -

And I think they're ranked dead last in turnover margin (-5) as well. -

True.
Smh. Saturday can't come fast enough. -
dat dude
Agreed. I'm all for an intense coach who isn't afraid to get on his players. But I'd also like my coach to keep his composure, especially when being down by 16 points in the second half. Kelly flat out lost it.WebFire;883202 wrote:What happens? Nothing. Because my opinion that acting like that is not something I would want my coach doing. And my Pelini reference was to his confrontation with his QB, Taylor Martinez. Not the officials. -
killer_ewokAgain...careless turnover after careless turnover and in the red zone to boot......a lot of coaches would be fuming.
Also, gotta laugh at some UM fans who are making such a big deal out of it when they were praying they got Harbaugh as their coach. Speaking of coaches who flip out on the sideline..... -

I don't think Harbaugh calls his players "fucking dumbasses". Regardless, it wouldn't be cool for him to act like that.killer_ewok;883678 wrote:Again...careless turnover after careless turnover and in the red zone to boot......a lot of coaches would be fuming.

Woody and Bo would probably be calling some of you "pussies" if they were alive and reading this stuff. SMH
Also, Pelini is awesome. I love his intensity. -

It has nothing to do with being a pussy. Funny that the only people defending Kelly are ND fans. As a Michigan fan, that sure seems familiar.killer_ewok;883681 wrote:Woody and Bo would probably be calling some of you "pussies" if they were alive and reading this stuff. SMH
