Texas A&M just joined the SEC...well maybe
-
j_crazyB1G needs to get VT OU and Kansas.
Give UND a call and if they still balk go after Syracuse or Rutgers. -
WebFireND would be stupid to hold out any longer.
-
jordo212000Bye bye Big 12. It's been fun.
Guess this means Texas is an independent. Does Oklahoma join the Pac 12? -
mucalum49B1G should try for VT, Ok St, OU and UND. Not sure if they'd want two teams from the same state though because of the expansion of the TV network.
-
jordo212000Just read that the Big 12 intends on replacing A&M with Houston. They plan on keeping the conference going, but I think you are going to see an exodus. Nobody wants to be left without a chair

Big 10 needs to act fast. Adding Oklahoma and Okie St would be huge. Then they should aim for Notre Dame and then fill the last spot with Va Tech -

Doug Gottlieb tweeted:
High ranking source at Texas A&M confirms, going to SEC.Clemson,FSU,Missouri likely to join.

Adding Houston is going to do nothing. Every team in the B12 than can find a seat elsewhere, will, as you said.
Another tweet from Gottlieb:
"Keep in mind, Pac 12/SEC/BIG 10 will not let Texas join w/ LSN-& UT is set to make $300 mil over 20yrs-that is why Dodds wants to keep Big12" -
jordo212000Hearing Missouri isnt talking to the SEC right now. Florida St seems to be the most logical choice, but I see Clemson being most likely to take that spot.
The Big 12 will probably look a lot like the Mtn West. Wonder if they make a run at TCU even though they just left for the Big East -

It's all going to come down to sources. Pretty much all of the schools being discussed are going to deny anything until the right time comes up. However, I'm sure they're talking about it amongst themselves, which is why 'high ranking sources' are usually decent sources. Even when Nebraska joined the B10 they denied it until the official day almost. Everyone knew days in advance though.
Why TCU? They have like 8k students and a 40k seat stadium they had trouble filling when they were undefeated. The B12 already has the Texas market. -
jordo212000They are wanting to add Houston. Houston's program is meh and they are based in Texas. If it was up to me, I'd take TCU before them. TCU'S program seems to be trending upwards.
At this point, who is out there that will allow you to make a splash if you are the Big 12? Boise? -
the_system
Any team that could 'make a splash' isn't going to join the B12. It's dead. Any team in the league outside of Texas and OU would JUMP at the opportunity to join another BCS conference right now and even into the future.jordo212000;861086 wrote:They are wanting to add Houston. Also, one of the reasons that Missouri is denying the shit out of the rumors could be because of what happened this spring. When the B10 expansion talks heated up, Stl/KC media started stories about them and Nebraska both getting in. Missouri pretty much publicly whored themselves out and thought they were a sure thing. B10 then takes Nebraska only and Missouri had to tuck their tails and go back to the Texas 12. They don't want something that embarrassing to happen again. -
oberhausFunny how there is no talk on where Texas Tech would end up.
As a Notre Dame fan, I would love to see them in the B1G -
the_systemI'm not sure on Texas Tech.
I could see OU/OSU sticking together and going to the Pac-12. Missouri to the SEC or B10 (at some point). It has to be a scary time if you're ISU, KSU, KU, TT, or Baylor. Even though KU has a good hoops program, it is small compared to what football brings to the table.
Edit: The Big east could be hurting too if the ACC (after losing FSU/Clemson to the SEC) tries to pick-up some of their schools. Hell, the B10 might grab one too. -
jordo212000Texas Tech is probably Mtn West bound. They arent a big time football school and basketball cant save them either
-
ts1227Does the MWC sweep up all of the leftover schools, and maybe still be able to fill the vacancy created by the Big 12 as the sixth BCS conference?
-
jordo212000I guess I could see Tech in the Big East as a "rival" for TCU

This. -
SportsAndLadyAdding Clemson, Missouri, and Florida State just doesn't really do anything for me..
VT would be a good get, however. -

I'm guessing the BCS is going to shift a bit as well. I don't think there will end up being 6 automatic bids or at least 6 different autobid conferences. The SEC, B1G, and Pac are going to own CFB to a much greater extent pretty soon. The ACC and Big East are going to struggle to keep up so continuing to include them is just going to cost the Big Three money. I'm guessing the ACC completes another raid (though they aren't going to have a lot to pick from) and the Big East football drops off the earth much like the XII is about to do. -

Yeah, I don't know what Clemson and FSU bring if it is about money. The SEC is already "in" Florida and South Carolina. Missouri brings two okay media markets to expand the brand, which I guess makes sense money wise. Florida State is probably the only team of the bunch that is going to compete on a yearly basis. -
darbypitcher22I can see Florida State and Clemson for sure in the SEC.
Virginia Tech, although a little bit of a stretch, I can still see this.
Struggling to see where Missouri fits in geographically to any of this at all.
Then again, I also struggled to see how TCU fits into the Big East, or some other schools like Saint Louis fit into leagues like the A-10, for that matter -

Not that geography has a lot to do with it anyway, but Missouri does add a western team to pair with Texas A&M, if they are bringing in two eastern schools in Clemson and FSU. Missouri borders three existing states with SEC teams (Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee), but still serves as an expansion of the territory. -
j_crazyJim delany said SEC expansion will not effect B1G. "we are not actively seeking expansion."
