Texas A&M just joined the SEC...well maybe

  Who else is the PAC 10 going to get? All the major players are already in their league. It all depends on how far they want to come inland. They're already in Colorado. Do time zone differences matter in these decisions?

  This would be sad news for me. I've always had a soft spot for Texas A&M, but I hate the SEC.

  They'd almost have to do that. Boise? Fresno State?
  
  It'd be awesome if they'd invite Hawaii. You can't get much more Pacific than that.

  Hoping this is true just because I will love seeing how all the other pieces fall into place. If super conferences happen, the Big East dies, right?
  
  Speculation that the next SEC targets would be Oklahoma, Okie State, and Virginia Tech (with Fla St also mentioned). Seem to recall that Oklahoma was prominent in the SEC talks last year, but this article also talks about how the Pac 12 may re-direct to the Oklahomas and Texas/Texas Tech.

  If Virginia Tech even thinks about leaving the ACC, it will result in them losing all of their funding and state support.

  Let's face it, if this isn't happening now it's only a matter of time.
  
  If this happens what is left of the Big XII will quickly dissolve. The B1G 10 can go after Texas if they want, but unless they are going to let them keep their network without sharing some of the revenue with the rest of the conference (which isn't going to happen) then they won't join. Texas will go independent. There will likely be a bidding war for several of the rest of the Big XII teams between the B1G 10, Pac-12, SEC, and Big East (they are looking to expand to 16 football schools eventually as well).
  
  The B1G 10 needs to add four more teams to get to 16 and would likely go after Missouri, Notre Dame, and Rutgers.
  
  Whether or not ND would finally be ready to make the leap and join the B1G 10 has everything to do with how much money they can get from NBC in the future. With Dick Ebersol gone and with the new NBS Sports Network on the way, it will be interesting to see what kind of deal they can get. If they can be guaranteed to make more staying independent, then that's what they will do. Otherwise, they will know this is likely their final chance to join.

  No Rutgers! No one cares about Rutgers. Why do Big 10 fans think that Rutgers will get the NY market? It won't. Syracuse is a far better option for competition and revenue.

  One of the interesting points in this article is that Texas, with TLN, fits nicely with the Pac 12's existing regional network plan. Also, an interesting point comparing Washington State's financial pull compared to the XII.

  The Pac-12 makes the most sense for Texas almost because of TLN. It would increase the value of Pac-12 Network as well as increase the value of TLN.
  
  "Something is wrong with your conference," a source said. "when Washington State is getting more from its conference than the University of Texas."
  
  The source was referring to the fact that some Pac-12 projections have the league making $30 million per school once its network gets up and running. Even when the Big 12 renegotiates its primary rights in a couple of years, it is expected to top out at $20 million per year. That was with A&M.

  I can't see Texas going to the Pac-12. They already told Texas to get f'd after they almost had them in the first go-around and Texas demanded they get to start their own network as well.
  
  I can see OU/OkState going to the Pac-12. They could fit in the south with Arizona, ASU, etc....and they're bound at the hip. I don't think the SEC was interested in OkState the last time they were flirting with A&M/OU.

  No way I see Texas joining. The B1G isn't going to let them have their own network and not put there fair share in. Like the idea of Missouri and Kansas though.

  Personally I say to hell with Texas and UND. Kansas Oklahoma and OK ST would make the B1G just as good and Missouri acts like they want to join. Those would be my choices. But you know the B1G is drooling to get a piece of the Texas markets. We'll have to wait and see.

  If true and the Big12 eventually breaking up I would like in the following order for the B1G to expand.
  
  Notre Dame (maybe if we go to 16 they will)
  Texas (won't happen)
  Missouri (St. Louis market)
  Kansas (be a boost to basketball)

  I know Notre dames ad said last year when the super conferences were starting that he would definitely listen to what the big 10 was offering. I personally think it is a good idea. You would have tge rivalries with Ohio state, Michigan, and mich St. And even Penn St. It is going to be very interesting

  A&M is finally improving in football. I would love to see them come to the SEC. But, they will have to pick up one more team if this happens.

  Do you think that Syracuse would leave the Big East for basketball? I don't think they would.

  (from the article) i doubt the sec takes on the combination of okla/okst/vt. they'd have to drastically alter the current sec landscape to do so.

  I'd imagine they will keep the East/West. Florida State or Virginia Tech would clearly join the East. Oklahoma/Oklahoma State and Texas A&M would clearly join the West. If they had to stick with geography, they could easily move Alabama and Auburn to the East, which is in-line with geography.

  my point was bringing those three teams to the west (a&m, oklahoma and oklahoma st) and only va tech (or fsu) to the east would leave the conference in a geographical bind.
  
  edit - i suppose they could switch over alabama and auburn to the east and then proceed to move vanderbilt to the west

  Last Year when I lived in Kansas and the 16 team super conferences came up Kansas was on the outside looking in. Kstate was ahead of them because of their football program. Big Ten would go affter Mizzou and texas if they could and most likly big east/acc schools

  Shocking. What will the B1G and Pac12 do now? The BXII has to be done losing 2 teams. Unless the scramble and get BYU and TCU to join ASAP. Maybe even Boise.
