How bad will the Big 10 do?

U mean kinda like the Utah vs Bama game was supposed to be a blowout as well?
Fla has nothing to play for, UC does. I think this game will be closer then some think. Will all depend on where Fla is mentally.
But the Sugar has been the game where the dog has had luck. Utah and Boise come to mind.
i do see your point, however, it is tebows last game so there is *something* to play for... -

I'm well aware of the history of surprised BCS teams, however, I still take Florida in a blowout. I have watched both teams and this is a mismatch.centralbucksfan wrote:dwccrew wrote: I would take Florida at -21 against Cincinnati. It is not going to be like any other game the Bearcats have played in. The Gators have a defense, offense and one of the best coaches in the game.
Cincy will not be able to return kicks, like they have all year, against the special teams of Florida. Not too mention it is Tebow's last game in college. He will be fired up and generally plays well against terrible defenses, which UC has.
This will be a blowout. 55-24 Gators

This is my thinking. Tebow is a fierce competitot, even if he isn't playing for a national title, he'll want that BCS win bad.rocket31 wrote:centralbucksfan wrote:

Scarlet_BuckeyeChamps Sports Bowl
Miami(FL) (ACC #4) vs. Wisconsin (Big 10 #5)
I can see this game going either way. Miami surely has the better talent, but are they disciplined enough to put together a sound game? If Miami is able to get whatever they want thru the air, they win. If Wisconsin can control the ground game and pound it away with Clay, they win. So... I see this game as a toss up. If I have to pick, I'll pick Wisconsin.
Insight Bowl
Minnesota (Big 10 #8) vs. Iowa State (Big 12 #8)
I think Minnesota will handle this one easily. Does anyone know if Decker will play? If so, the Gophers are a lock for this one. Minnesota.
Outback Bowl
Northwestern (Big 10 #4) vs. Auburn (SEC #7)
I can actually see Northwestern pulling this one off (unlike everyone else), but I'm gonna go with Auburn.
Capital One Bowl
Penn State (Big 10 #3) vs. LSU (SEC #3)
Penn State is in some serious trouble here. I think the Tigers are going to to feast on the Nittany lions. LSU.
Rose Bowl
Ohio State (Big 10 #1) vs. Oregon (PAC-10 #1)
I honestly believe OSU will win this one. This is not a "homer" pick. I may get blasted for this, but I honestly believe Massoli is overrated. I am not impressed with him in the slightest. I think OSU's defensive-ends will have a field day shutting down the zone-read. Ohio State.
Alamo Bowl
Michigan State (Big Ten #6) vs. Texas Tech (Big 12 #4)
This is an interesting game. I am unaware of the suspensions/injuries previous posters have mentioned [for MSU]. So, I'm gonna roll with Sparty on this one, but if those suspensions/injuries are big, I might have to change my prediction to Tech. Texas Tech.
Orange Bowl
Iowa (Big Ten #2) vs. Georgia Tech (ACC #1)
I really believe Ga Tech is overrated. Sure they have a nice little offense, but it is simply that - little. I haven't heard if Stanzi will be playing or not, and any other injuries, but I gotta believe that stifling defense of the Hawkeyes will shutdown Georgia Tech and Iowa will win. Iowa.
So... at best... I have the Big Ten going 4 - 3; and at worst I have the Big Ten going 2 - 5. Hopefully the Big Ten can manage to go at least 3-4. I'd be happy with that (as long as OSU wins ) -
Cleveland Buck
Both of MSU's starting WRs, one of their starting CBs, one of their running backs, and several others who get significant playing time are all suspended. Sparty has no chance.Scarlet_Buckeye wrote: Alamo Bowl

thedynasty1998I wouldn't be surprised to see the Big 10 get swept. However, I think the Big 10 finds a way to win 2 games.
Possibly Ohio State and I'll say maybe Iowa? -
Scarlet_Buckeye
Ah... if that's the case, then yeah... I'll switch my pick to Texas Tech then.Cleveland Buck wrote:

devil1197Even if the Big Ten goes 3-4, I think at least two of their wins will be BCS bowl games which will help out the image of the conference tremendously.
I am telling you Iowa's defense will shut down GT's run, too much time to game plan imo just like LSU last season. It won't be a blowout but the Hawkeyes will have Stanzi and Robinson 100% healthy to get the job done on offense. This Hawkeyes team may not be flashy but when they are healthy they could beat anyone. They should be 11-1 with a loss to OSU. -

I agree. Minnesota has looked very good at some points this season, but very bad at others. That game is pretty much a toss-up, as is the Northwestern/Auburn game (though I like a healthy NU's chances).vball10set wrote: I'm on the fence regarding the Minny/Iowa St. game -

I foresee the big ten going 3-4 or 4-3. Irregardless, I think both these records will save face for the Big 10 this year especially if OSU can beat Oregon. I think this game will have the most meaning in terms of respect.
Georgia Tech's triple option is very difficult to defend, but I think the long break will be plenty of time for Iowa to figure it out. The question is, will they have the speed personnel to keep up with it? This game is a bit of a tossup but ill take Iowa in a close one.
I wasn't impressed with Penn State at all this season and I feel that they will get beat by a very average LSU team because of the speed in the SEC.
Northwestern is the sleeper of the Big 10 and I think they will surprise many by beating Auburn. Auburn feels a bit of a let down after falling just short to Alabama.
Miami and Wisconsin is another difficult pick. Wisconsin has looked good as of late, but simply did not impress me against the big 2 (Ohio State and Iowa) of the big 10 this season. Miami simply has too much team speed and Harris continues to impress at QB. This should be a very close game, but I see Miami coming out on top.
Texas Tech should win easily over the depleted Spartans and Minnesota should have their way with Iowa State. -
KnightRyderthe big ten might get one win. and it wont be iowa , i dont care how long they have to study that option they dont have the players on their scout team to run it. maybe minnesota will get a win , the others will probably get blown out

HereticOregon -- They have a wide-open offense with good personnel, which means OSU will have to put up a good deal of offense and not make mistakes. A lot of that rests on Pryor and how he responds after having over a month without an actual game.
Iowa -- GT's from the ACC. 'Nuff said. Iowa might win ugly (like many of their wins), but they'll win.
LSU -- Yahoo! had an interesting comment that both of these teams put out great records, but neither has a marquee win. I do think LSU's close losses were against better opposition, so they get a very lukewarm pick.
Northwestern -- I don't understand all the picking of Auburn. They finished something like 2-5 (with one of those wins being against an FCS school). Yeah, they NEARLY beat Alabama, but that's a rival game which, to me, explains the closeness of the score. Northwestern's a good team, especially if Kafka's back and healthy.
Wisconsin -- Perhaps my most lukewarm pick, as if Jacory Harris is on, he's ON. But if the Badger defense gets to him, he won't be on. A key to this game will be the Badgers not shooting themselves in the foot. One could say they COULD have beaten OSU, as their defense was pretty dominating, but they gave up three returns (two picks, one punt) for touchdowns. They screw up like that and they're toast.
Texas Tech -- It'd likely be an easy win for Tech anyway, but with all the suspensions, it'll be U-G-L-Y.
Minnesota -- Not much to say about this game, as I know about nothing about Iowa State. Minnesota's solid and ISU is from the weak half of the Big XII, so I'm going with them.
So, that's 4-3. -
rrfanI am nervous about all the games. The big 10 needs a big bowl season to get some cred. back. I am just not sure they will get it.

I'd say the only game your probably being overly optimistic about is MSU/Texas Tech...MSU just isn't going to be able to get it done with suspensions and turmoil surrounding the program right now.SQ_Crazies wrote: Champs Sports

SQ_CraziesEveryone really thinks GT is going to beat Iowa? They have 3 weeks to prepare for that offense...and Iowa's defense is GOOD.

SQ_CraziesProbably just some subconscious knowledge of the Big Ten in bowls lol.

jpake1Something like that. Or just waiting for Iowa to lay an egg and its the last chance.
