The SI article about Tressel

Why do people lie about anything? -

The reporter reported what he was told, which could have been lies that were told to him. -

SI guy "Hey you worked at the OSU tattoo gate parlor right?"
Sketchy guy "Yeah"
SI guy "Can you tell me about it"
Sketchy guy "How about some $ then I will tell you everything" -
thedynasty1998.03? How are you coming up with that?
The fact Klein doesn't have tattoos doesn't discredit anything. Of the names mentioned most are accurate. I'd imagine the guys that like to smoke pot frequented this hangout as much as guys who liked tattoos.
Jermil Martin is the guy that OSU needs to keep silenced. He's the one that could blow this thing open. -
LJHis math is off, it's 3% of scholarship players
-
dokkenThe guys just smoked some weed, played some video games, smoked some weed, danced, smoked some weed, watched some games, smoked some weed, then drove home.

There really is no credible sources and unless they can find the memoribilia that was supposedly traded, I don't think there will be anything more than possibly a "hey we are watching you, don't screw up" or maybe some other small sanctions, based merely on hearsay
We can only assume at this point that there are 0 credible sources. Just because they are druggies and hang out at tattoo parlors, doesn't mean the NCAA won't listen or investigate. -
lhslep134karen lotz;786159 wrote:For Christ's sake lhs, did you not read the SI article or any of the thread? Klein was mentioned with 8 others who traded memorabilia for tats OR money. If he doesn't have tats, that doesn't automatically mean he wasn't involved. Same goes for the others you mentioned if they were listed among the 9.
I read it, and I think it's a bunch of witch hunting, using the testimony of not only sketchy people but also people who were in Tressel's doghouse (Rose, Small).
The information in no way shape or form should be considered anything more than questionable at best considering the sources.
If this was any other program (ie if players were in Brian Kelly's doghouse) and said the same thing, I would be saying the same thing. When you're recruiting players who play at such a high level you're going to get a few rotten ones who disregard what they were told (hey, those words came from Small's mouth) and commit violations anyways.
How the hell is Tressel supposed to be in charge for what these kids do in their free time, ESPECIALLY if they don't have any prior troubles? The answer is he's not, but people like you lotz expect him too. -

Of course they are felons. That is who they were hanging out with! That doesn't automatically dismiss the case. -

I never said it did. Please quote where I ever implied that? I said that the unless they find hard evidence, their witnesses highly lack the character to be credible. -

Yea and that's not counting that many of the same guys are in the program for 4-5 years. There are only what, 20 new guys each year? The percentage is actually much higher. -
dokkenIsn't there a bowling alley on campus these boys can hang out in? I mean whatever happened to the days of trying to get a campus coed drunk and trying to get in her pants in your free time?

Maybe to idiots. Dope is Coke... not weed. -

28 out of 850 players (85 scholarship players over 10 years) -- so if I forgot to multiply by 100, I guess that would be 3 percent. At any rate, it's a ridiculously low number and doesn't show a widespread problem. -

I didn't say I would expect Tressel or any other coach to know what every player is doing 24/7. I questioned Smith saying in December that the whole situation was isolated to the players that were suspended at the time. They obviously didn't investigate enough to make that kind of a claim. I replied to your post about Klein because you are saying he doesn't have tats so he is exonerated, when the article said that it wasn't just tats. Could the sources in the article be lying? Yeah they could, I just don't see why they would at this point. Did dude just look at a roster and randomly pick Storm Klein because he had a unique first name? -

How do you find a credible source from a tattoo parlor that was selling drugs and trading tattoos for merchandise? Of course they are going to be sketch. -
dokkenIt's a good thing weed is legal in Ohio.

Complete roster turnover every year? -

Much higher? Please. In no way, shape or form does this show a widespread problem. And if you want to get THAT technical, then let's exclude the players involved prior to 2004 when it wasn't illegal to sell stuff -- and the 9 players who can't be verified at this point and have only been implicated by sources that aren't the least bit credible.
Now we're probably down to 15 or so players, at best. Still think it's "much higher"? -

Big difference. And you can't count 850 guys because you would be assuming a new 85 every year. -

Please don't respond like this. It only makes you look bad and gives more ammo to the fools who believe your views represent all Ohio State fans.
