Based on some reliable sources I have heard from....this is going to get worse. -

With just the football team or will it include more sports? The football program has screwed themselves over but I don't want to hear about other sports doing the same thing. -

I just don't believe the HC and star QB leave because of anonymous, un-credible sources in a magazine. There is obviously something to it.
We know why Tress "resigned", he lied, was caught, and the scrutiny was never going to end. Pryor is in much the same position. Even if none of this is true(not saying that it isn't), people are just going to continue to throw Pryor under the bus by printing articles and having tv shows like OTL. Nothing he could do at OSU would be worth the constant criticism and being under the microscope. Hell, news teams are stalking the kid trying to get any story they can. They made a huge story out of Pryor driving on a suspended license, he shouldn't have done it, but it's not remotely close to the atrocity they made it out to be. Pryor had no choice but to leave, whether the allegations are true or not. There's always going to be a "source" willing to make some money or make headlines. -

Just football is what I am hearing. Not sure its anything extra added...but some legit/serious stuff with cars. More than has been already reported. Possible drug issues. I am hearing a couple of announcements on the horizon as far as more NCAA violtions. All of this may be bigger than what we anticipated... -
karen lotzTalbott set to be on 97.1 in Columbus in 5 minutes. Can listen at http://971thefan.com/live/content/index.html

No, Pete Carroll did talk with the NCAA. He left before the sanctions, but he was there during the investigation. Below is a snipet of an appearance on the Dan Patrick show (after he had left USC). The long paragraph is kind of interesting in the parallels (new allegations against Pryor notwithstanding). The point at which stardom hits a player is maybe up for debate, but both Bush and Pryor began their transgressions before they really peaked as stars.
Patrick: What were they (NCAA investigators) focusing in on with football, with you?
Carroll: It’s always about, did you know what was going on, could you have done something about it?
Patrick: Was this about Reggie Bush?
Carroll: Yeah, that was the focus in our deal. With basketball it was about O.J. (Mayo), and they want to know if you know. And if there was any prior knowledge and if you could have done anything about it. It’s interesting, when you look back at that thing. Reggie Bush wasn’t Reggie Bush when that all happened. He was Reggie Bush after all that stuff. We just had a young kid growing up in the program. So what you know after the fact when you look back at high-profile players and athletes and stuff is, it doesn’t always come clear to you when they’re just growing up and they’re just punk freshmen and sophomores. … It’s an interesting issue, though, when there’s so many different variables that work out from beyond the player, through his family and extended families. It’s a big network that the NCAA is asking the universities to control. It’s most challenging. -

IDK, I can't buy into that thinking. We knew Tressel lied back in what, March? So you stuck by him for 3 months and then without any credible info you force him to resign? Because of media pressure (who you all say has shady or false sources). Same with TP. If that's me, and I'm innocent, I stand up for myself, have a PC to claim my innocence and ask by fans to stand by me, and the truth will surface.
If you just quit even if innocent, you are weak. -

I despise Carroll, but what he says is true. The NCAA is asking alot of the coaches, AD, and compliance department to control the outside influences on student-athlete's.enigmaax;794822 wrote:No, Pete Carroll did talk with the NCAA. Will try, he talked to Stanley a few minutes ago off air and he said he would go on air. Stanley is now saying he may be getting cold feet but hopes he still calls back. -

Sounds like Talbott is backing out now. They can't get ahold of him on the phone now..... -
karen lotzShould have skipped that last commercial break and gone to the call as soon as he said he'd talk on air.
-
LJDid Stanley say what he told him? Or did they just talk about going on air?

Yes, there is some truth. But if ALL of this was going on at OSU..cars, tattoos, money...you can't tell me Tressel or any other coach didn't wind of this?? They had to. And if so, they should have at the very least, looked into it. -

Well, its pretty obvious that neither Tressel nor Pryor is innocent. So, I don't understand your point.
The shady sources I have issues with are the nine new players that were accused in the SI article. The only source was the anonymous, convicted felon. And therefore, players like Klein, Simon, Berry, etc ARE standing up and fighting the issue. However, if I recall, you still were very skeptical of them even though they stood up for themselves. -
derek bomarugh wtf the fan's streaming site never works at work for me
-
karen lotzAll Stanley really said was he asked him quite a few questions about Pryor and then asked if he'd come on and talk.
He just called back and said he can't go on right now, but will sometime in the future. He probably got a call from his lawyer or someone at OSU saying not to go on. -

Probably his lawyer. He currently has someting like $100k in outstanding tax liens. Anyhthing to do with money, inside or outside of the NCAA's scope could be a problem for him. -

My point is we've know they were guilty. So why the sudden loss of support for them if nothing changed? -

Read SBB take on it. It has to do with how national perception of the university follows Football and how they have a giant fundraising drive starting to raise billions of dollars. -

Hey, are you banging my cousins girlfriend? She has been telling me this for months and she has been on the money with her information.
Pryor left because he was informed about the story coming out about the money for autographs, not because he was trying to help the team out. He has never cared about anyone else except himself since day one. He was told to leave now and he won't have to talk with the NCAA anymore. I wonder how he was able to afford one of the higher priced lawyers in Columbus, when he could not afford to pay for his own tattoos. We will see more coaches and players leave in the near future. -

Two words that I've heard a number of times when referring to TP as well--selfish and arrogant...that being said, I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't say that I didn't give a shit about these attributes, as long as we were winning football games. I was aware of them but chose to ignore them. There, now I can rip him with a clear conscience. -

Honestly the first person I have seen admit that.
