A caller called in and made a really good point. Said Tressel is the highest paid public employee in the state, making around $4 million a year and it's his job to know about everything that goes in. Basically that it's a poor excuse to say Tressel is unaware because it is his job to be aware. -

Do you ever come up with an opinion on your own? Or do you just repeat what other people say? -

Repeat what others say. But thanks for asking. -

He's paid to win games, not to be all knowing.thedynasty1998;763296 wrote:Said Tressel is the highest paid public employee in the state, making around $4 million a year
Is that really his job?thedynasty1998;763296 wrote:and it's his job to know about everything that goes in. Basically that it's a poor excuse to say Tressel is unaware because it is his job to be aware. -

Depends upon what his job description says. If his players show up in new Chargers, I do think it's his job to ask questions or to have someone in place to ask those questions on his behalf. -
thedynasty1998Found a job posting for head womens hockey coach at OSU and it states: "manages all aspects of the program" in the job description.

SMH -
thedynasty1998SportsAndLady;763333 wrote:SMH
Why would you SMH at OSU's job posting? -
bases_loadedI would like to see that kids that the people who call into these radio shows produce...I'm willing to bet they can't keep track of their kids let alone 80...and even if you paid them $4 million they couldn't keep track of their one kid.

I'm fairly certain that the players have to tell the athletic dept what cars they drive and they do keep track. I'm not sure they follow them out into the parking lot to check up on them. -

Just hilarious you are comparing the two
Literally hilarious. -

I would imagine that to be true. I'm even certain there are loopholes in being able to borrow cars of friends. I don't think Tressel knew of anything with the car dealer, however I do think it's his job to make sure someone is assigned the task of checking on things like cars and who is being put on the players pass list. -
KnightRyderWriterbuckeye;762960 wrote:Very bad example with USC...because they basically lied and shuffled to keep the NCAA away from campus. They managed to keep them at arm's length for something like 3 years, when everyone in the country were pretty certain they were near the top of the "pay to play" list with Bush.
OSU did not do this. They reported the violation as soon as it was discovered, and invited the NCAA to work with them as they prepared their findings.
Huge difference.
USC deserved a much harsher sentence AND all the animosity it got because of how it behaved when the allegations were first brought to light.
OSU reported the violation as soon as it was discovered ? what planet do you live on? -

I listed a job description of a head coach at OSU. Obviously there's differences, however Tressels job description entails more than just winning games. -

Yeah really interesting! /sarcasm. -

Yeah I'm sure the women's hockey team has ppl begiing to give them money, buy their jersey's, give them new chargers, etc... /sarcasm. The two aren't even comparable. Not surprised you would post that like they were. -
thedynasty1998Yea with the 45 staff members listed on the football coaching staff list it's absurd they couldn't assign one of them to be aware of what Pryor is driving and where he lives.

that's like saying Steve Jobs' job description and a CEO of a small mortgage company's job description are comparable because they are both CEO's. Sure, they're both CEO's but they are most certainly not comparable. -

No it's not. I listed it because people were questioning if it's Tressels job to know what is going on. Obviously he won't know everything and he can't single handedly keep his players in line. But when shit blows up it's on Tressel first and foremost. And yes, it is in his job description. And like I said, if Tressel can't be on top of certain things he can hire someone to do that.
That's like Jobs saying he is too busy to worry about the legality of his business. He wouldn't do that. He would cover his ass by hiring a counsel. -

What is inaccurate about this? Nothing. Once JT told them about this, they immediately self-reported. That's a fact. The university did not go on to keep this information from the NCAA; they reported it and asked the NCAA to assist them with putting together the report and penalties. They also hired another firm that is familiar with NCAA sanctions to assist in coming up with what they hope will be the penalties the NCAA places on OSU. -

isnt jim tressel a employee of OSU? and wasnt he aware of violations as far back as april? and when was the ncaa notified , november , december? and do you really believe tressel told no one? you would have to be a fool to believe that . -
passwordDoesn't it seem a little strange that Pryor, his Mother and Brother all bought cars from this same dealer and none of them had a pot to piss in before he came to OSU. Unless Pryor is holding a very well paying part time job in the off season, something is wrong. Now if you think Tressel had no knowledge of these deals being made to the players and their families for all these years, You are either on drugs or you are so naive that you still think Elvis is still alive.

He does have a well paying job, it's called quarterback of the University of Ohio State. It pays well and the requirements aren't all that tough. Everybody kills people.....
