5/7/11 More trouble for OSU

Mo C did more damage to the program than anyone did 50 years prior, probably ever. Reputation wise he has no equal up to this point and he shut down our running back recruiting for years, he couldn't have possibly fucked the pooch harder. -

You challenged my statement that the NCAA looked at the entire program. The article clearly says they did, and the violations clearly show they did.
Whether or not MC talking would have changed things is irrelevant. He didn't talk, and no findings related to him were found. Even if he had talked MORE than his accusations, it would have taken corroborating evidence to prove the infractions occurred.
That never happened, even though the NY Times, ESPN and the Dispatch, among other media, all tried desperately to find some kind of evidence that would back him up. Now if all those media folks looked that hard, and the NCAA was going through the entire sports program, I find it very hard to believe something could be covered up that well.
As far as MC is concerned, the man is a sociopath and chronic liar, and I believe the results of all those investigations prove that. -

How many lies does it take to earn chronic liar status? And does it count if you just lie about the same thing every few months? -

Ken Gordon had about 15 tweets yesterday defending the Dispatch because people were being critical of them for biting the hand that feeds them. Agreed. If the Dispatch is pursuing this there has to be some serious meat here. People clad in scarlet and gray would travel to Broad and Third Street with pitchforks if it was discovered the Dispatch was trying to nail OSU if there was nothing there. Ask Hooley what happens if you are in the media and you don't toe the line in this town. -

Except Dooley had a vendetta that was clouded by his own biases and disallowed him to be even somewhat impartial when dealing with anything related to Tressel. -

Yes I am sure they are quivering that they reported somewhat controversial information that may or may not be a violation. It wasn't like they uncovered some huge mystery. -
Little DannyGood article by Bob Hunter in the Dispatch today. The gist of the article is that people with their heads buried in the sand and people who are (on the other end of the spectrum) hoping OSU gets the Death Penalty are both living in Fantasy Land.

If my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle...you haven't a clue what went on with the MC investigation, so please, do us all a favor and stay on the tsun threads--I do believe you have plenty of things to "speculate" on there to keep you busy. -

You don't shit about it any more than I do. And what exactly do I have to speculate on? -
believerThis whole thing is complete BULLSHIT. If anyone believes this kind of crap doesn't occur to one degree or another with every major college football program you're a fool.
What is happening here is hatred of success. Tressel got caught with his hands in the cookie jar and lied to get out of it. Now everyone wants to pile on.
I think Tress screwed up and should have come clean. But he didn't and I'm disappointed with him for that. But he's still a successful coach and I'd be perfectly fine with him staying on board. -

This sentiment is troubling to me. Many people admired OSU and Tressel so much because he did things the right way. Now we are okay with him being like everyone else? -

Elaborate?! -
bigkahunaI wonder how many people who are saying "This is bullshit! Stuff like this happens all of the country....." are the same people who were wishing USC got the death penalty because you know, I'm sure stuff like THAT goes on all over the country to some degree or another as well.
If it's another school, they are the devil in the form of a football program. If it's your school, well shit everyone else does it, so why are you screwing me over?"
Has anyone ever tried this with a cop? "Well, everyone else is going 10 over, why am I getting a ticket?" The better question is "Why were you going 10 over?" -

You're a troll and have been called such by just about every member who posts in the pro sports forum. Just go back and read all times you've been pwned, then followed up by your pathetic whining. -

Look at what was typed instead of who typed it, it has some merit.
Like fans of many big programs, now that shit is going down the craziest ones are trying to rationalize it, which to outsiders is going to be amusing. -

This is the thought that keeps creeping up in the back of my mind and wishes OSU would just "wash their hands" and let him go. I feel like more action should and will come. -

I've went back and forth on whether Teessel should keep his job. I really find it difficult to comprehend his thought process and his poor excuses at the presser. At the same time I do think he is a good man and coach. But OSU is becoming a joke nationwide and it just seems to be lingering. And that's because I don't feel like Tressel is taking ownership of his mistakes and thinks people will just forget about it. -
jordo212000I agree with dynasty and some of the non-Buckeye fans. It would be for the best if Tress just walks away.
-
Tobias FünkeI want Tressel to stay for the 2011 season. I am hoping to take his class in the fall...

I understand this sentiment for the issue related to tattoo parlor. This issue though may not be anything at all for the most part. I mean if they were giving preferential treatment to athletes, it seems strange they only gave half the players a discount at all, especially in a poor economy. -

Very bad example with USC...because they basically lied and shuffled to keep the NCAA away from campus. They managed to keep them at arm's length for something like 3 years, when everyone in the country were pretty certain they were near the top of the "pay to play" list with Bush.
OSU did not do this. They reported the violation as soon as it was discovered, and invited the NCAA to work with them as they prepared their findings.
Huge difference.
USC deserved a much harsher sentence AND all the animosity it got because of how it behaved when the allegations were first brought to light. -

I truly believe that USC would not have received as harsh of a punishment if their athletic director(not the current one) handled the situation a lot better. He was uncooperative with the investigation, then made those absurd comments about the NCAA being jealous of USC after the punishment came out. What went from some serious penalties with cooperation, turned into the maximum penalties with the lack of cooperation. -
thedynasty1998Listening to Demetrius Stanley in The Fan right now (and yes I know they're terrible) and he has some interesting comments on the car issue. Basically makes it sound like there is a lot of illegitimate stuff going on that Tressel may not know about. And I think he would be as aware as any as to what goes on.
