Yeah, Self didn't get outcoached, his players just couldn't make anything from the free throw line or behind the arc.

    lol you're a joke

and an even bigger LOL @ feeling better about your Sweet Sixteen loss...another team losing makes you feel better? LMAO

VCU is STOMPING teams. Who gives a shit what seed they are? They're playing some amazing ball right now and has a good chance at winning it all. Do some of you truly believe VCU is playing like the 40th best team in the country at THIS time? What happened previous too the tourny means absolutely nothing.

This was a major upset, but I am kind of surprised that some of the talking heads are calling this "maybe the biggest upset ever". Kansas was good, but not a great team. These same announcers said that there is no great team this year. I thought it was pretty well known that college basketball is down this year, so a lot of upsets were expected.

Umm yes, a lot of people are throwing this loss back in your face. It happens. Every non-OSU fan did it to us Friday night. We got burnt and now the same thing is happening with you. It happens.

And yes I do feel bad about the S16 loss to Kentucky. And yes another top seed losing does make me feel better....what's so wrong with that? Misery loves company. Further proves that the better team does not win all the time in the tourney.

But thanks for calling me a joke. You further cement yourself as a probable douche.

I'm not a douche, I actually thought you were a prettty good poster...all of a sudden you attack me on multiple threads in the past 6 months.

Oh and 'throwing it back in my face' and getting burnt are two different things. OSU fans didn't get burnt friday night, just like I didn't now.

I'm kind of sick of the whole "not dominant team in basketball this year" meme.

Since the days of UCLA has there been a truly dominant team in basketball each year?

    I don't think so.

It's pretty much been like it has been this year (maybe not quite as crazy) with top seeds losing.

The overall No. 1 seed rarely wins the tournament these days, so again that tells me the IDEA of a dominant team is totally flawed and a figment of the imagination of the talking heads.

Your right they are not a great team but they have a great Coach, a great tournament Coach and that should have been enough to win today.

OK, let's look at what they've done since the tourney started then.

    They beat...
    - A USC team that finished middle of the pack in the worst BCS conference, was also a last 4 team in, and ended the season with 15 losses
    - A reeling Georgetown team that had lost 5 of 6 heading into the tournament
    - A Purdue team that had lost 2 of its final 3 games (to freaking Iowa and a 20 point loss to Michigan State), and that had just suspended its best perimeter defender for the tournament, and
    - A a 10 seed in double OT

They aren't playing like they're only the 40th best team in the country, but I'm not quite blown away by what they had done before today. Purdue was a good win, but still not a great one, and the other 3? Please. An 11 vs. 11 match up, an 11 vs. 10 match up, and a match up against a team that wasn't playing like they even belonged in the field.

Kansas was favored by 11 in this game for a reason.

I agree with that...I just think the media is inflating the whole situation.

Like, okay..you have never lost to a 10 seed..but you've lost to a 9

LOL-don't all parents consider their kids "gifted"? hell, I bet even Ty Webb's parents consider him "gifted"....."gifted" can mean different things, so don't spend too much time patting yourself on the back :p

So Mulva, what exactly do they have to do to impress you? And it's not like every team in the tourney came in on a hot streak lol. So now are we saying they had the weakest bracket and not Pitt?
  • Rotinaj
And I also never said they had "great" wins. I just said they were dominating and playing great ball and that is a FACT.

If VCU beats Butler, they beat 8 seed. Horray.
    THEN
If VCU beats Kentucky, Calipari's cheating caught up to him.
If VCU beats UConn, they beat a team that was going through a scandal and they finally got tired.

If they lose, they weren't supposed to be in the tournament anyways.

    ;)

No doubt they are playing great, but as well as they are playing, it is still a big choke job by Kansas.
  • Rotinaj
I'm not saying it wasn't an upset but VCU would of given ANY team a great game the way they played.

I didn't say I'm not impressed. I said I wasn't blown away. Not every team came in on a hot streak, but Villanova is the only team in the tournament that came in playing as badly as Georgetown. 5 losses in 6 games to end the year is horrible. And again, USC and Florida State were both double digit seeds.

Marquette was playing well, but they were clearly overmatched by UNC, who beat them by 18. Richmond was playing well, but Kansas wiped the floor with them. Cinderella teams only last so long for a reason. Eventually talent wins out.

George Mason was a very good team in 2006, but it was absolutely a choke by UConn to not handle them easily, like Florida did the very next game.

my favorite player quote of the tourney so far:

    http://www.toledoblade.com/College/2011/03/28/Untitled-BQCLQMFJ-09B.html
VCU guard Joey Rodriguez counted one of Kansas' vaunted Morris twins -- Marcus or Markieff -- as one of those many doubters. During a pregame captains meeting with officials, Rodriguez said one of the brothers offered him some parting words: "The run ends here."

    "We'll see," Rodriguez shot back.

    The Jayhawks saw all right.
  • SportsAndLady
The reason there was a little scruffle before the Richmond/KU game was because one of the twins said "this fucking stops..now" and the Richmond players let it get to their heads....that's what the twins do, they try and get in the opponents heads...obviously VCU didn't let it get to them.

^^^thanks for clarifying--it's not the first time there's been trash talk between teams before a game--didn't it happen over the weekend with another team as well??
  • SportsAndLady
I was in NY all weekend for interviews, so I wasn't even able to watch the games very much...I just saw the KU/Richmond scruffle at a NY bar flashing across sportscenter and later decided to look into it...if there was another incident in another game, I wouldn't be surprised...people are going to talk shit to each other lol
