I was just using your logic---carry onSportsAndLady;726604 wrote:Oh my God you are seriously dumb..I mean just retarded dumb.
I didn't say Matta lost to a double digit seed, Siena...i said he's never lost to a double digit seed, but he did lose to a 9 seed which is close. -

There is a difference between an 8 seed losing to a 9 seed in Double OT, and a 1 seed losing to an 11 seed and trailing a good part of that game by double digit points. -
Cleveland BuckSportsAndLady;726586 wrote:He lost to a 9 seed, one away from double digits
Great! Two away from VCU, five away from Bucknell. That has nothing to do with what I said. Matta has never lost to a double digit seed in the NCAA tournament. -

If I was there, I would? -

Again, irrelevant. Someone was bragging about Matta never losing to a double digit seed, when just 2 years ago he lost to a 9 seed which yes isn't a double digit seed but it's 1 away, there's not much difference. -

wow--you are one weird dude -
SportsAndLadyMulva;726610 wrote:No way. Higher seeds were 25-7 in the first round, and the lower seeds that won were 9, 10, 11, 11, 11, 12, 13. Top 5 seeds were 18-2. That isn't a toss up.
Outside of Kansas' region, the other 12 teams in the Sweet 16 were seeded 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 8, 11. UNC took advantage of an over-matched 11 seed advancing and beat them by 18.
Kansas was given a gift with 3 double digit seeds advancing, and they totally choked. They should have done the exact same thing to VCU that they did to Richmond.
11, 8, 5, and 4...seeds 1 seeds lost to.
11, 8, 3 and either a 4 or 2 will be in the Final Four.
This isn't like the old days where 2 or 3 one seeds will be in the Final Four every year. When there were 4 one seeds 3 years ago, that was the last time that will happen for a while. The game is different. -
SportsAndLadyvball10set;726618 wrote:wow--you are one weird dude
Uhh you told me to tell the kansas team there is no shame in losing to an 11 seed in the Elite 8...I said I would if I was in San Antonio....that makes me weird? Blow me -

I really don't understand your argument. Yes 9 is close to 10 but it still doesn't invalidate his post that Matta hasn't lost to a double digit seed. There is a reason that a 2 losing to a 15 is a big deal but a 1 losing to a 16 will be talked about forever. It is only a 1 seed difference. -
MulvaSportsAndLady;726619 wrote:When there were 4 one seeds 3 years ago, that was the last time that will happen for a while. The game is different.
That was the only time it's EVER happened where all 4 1 seeds make it. So that doesn't really benefit a parity argument.
10/12 Sweet 16 teams were not surprises at all outside of Kansas' region. With no dominant teams (which I do agree with), a 1 seed losing to a 3, 4, 5 isn't surprising. But if you are saying there isn't any difference between a 1 seed and an 11 you are insane.
Kansas should have beaten VCU by 15+. -

I'm not trying to invalidate his post..I'm just saying his post is kinda stupid; so what? Matta has never lost to a double digit seed? He's lost to a 9 seed. What difference does it make that Matta has never lost to a double digit seed and Self has? Has Matta ever beaten two 1 seeds in the same tournament? Has he ever won a national championship? -

Okay maybe there is a difference between a 1 and an 11...but it shouldn't be a shocker when a high seed beats a 1 seed from the Sweet Sixteen on. -
vball10setlosing to a #9 seed & a #11 seed in back to back tournaments---PATHETIC!!!!!!!

I was in a "gifted" program when i was 5 years old because I knew multiplication and division, I have been in honors math classes since 9th grade, I got a 30+ on my math section of my ACT...I am not failing to see that a 9 seed isn't a double digit seed; I am simply saying it's pretty stupid to brag about never losing to a double digit seed when you've lost to a 9 seed. Like, okay..you have never lost to a 10 seed..but you've lost to a 9 -

No he hasn't, but Self has consistently lost to inferior teams in the past few years. As arguably the best team in the country, he should recieve a lot of criticism to losing for a team that most thought shouldn't be in the tournament, had to play a play in game just to get in the main field, and came off a grueling double ot game less than 48 hours before. Yes there is a lot of parody in college basketball but losing to a team like VCU can be defined nothing short of choking. -

or an 11 or a 12 or a 13 or a 14 or a 15 or a 16 -

I'd rather lose to inferior teams then win national championships than him consistently making it to the Final Four but never winning.
Sure, he'll be criticized...but there's no coach I'd rather have than Bill Self at Kansas...and EVERY knowledgeable KU fan will say the same thing. -
like_thatNot trying to read through this whole thread, but if anyone is trying to suggest that Matta is a better coach than Bill Self, then they are truly kidding themselves.
S&L you definitely jinxed the Jayhawks when you proclaimed they were the best team in the nation though. -
centralbucksfanBill Self outcoached by a guy named Shaka!! lol

charliehustle14Haha this thread is awesome. I love seeing S&L get burnt over and over....makes me feel a little better about Friday night.

Give me one thing Self could have done differently...just because KU lost to an 11 seed, doesn't mean Self got outcoached.
