Purdue @ Ohio State - Tues. 1/25 - 9 p.m. ESPN

centralbucksfanWho gives a flying shit about RPI or rankings for that matter. Anyone with an ounce of basketball knowledges KNOWS that OSU put on a freaking show last nite. And those same people, KNOW OSU is pretty damn good. IT doesn't take a scientist to figure that out. Admit the obvious.

SportsAndLadyLol you guys are outrageous...nowhere am I bashing Ohio State, dear God. I quoted one guy who said "if craft plays like this, no one can come close to us" Like doesn't anyone see how arrogant that sounds? All I was saying, was Ohio State is a very good team and should beat everyone they play on their home court, even if it is an overrated Purdue team.

thedynasty1998Last night was the first time OSU looked like the #1 team in the country. You watched them and thought that they would have beat anyone in the country.

Is this supposed to hurt my feelings or something? Omg on a Kansas board I would be a nobody! Ohhhhh noooooo!

They didn't look like the #1 team in the country @ Illinois? -
centralbucksfanKinda like Baylor being overrated but "someone" started a thread about Kansas putting on a show? So thats ok but if we get excited because OSU put on a show(and they did), we are outrageous and Purdue is overrated? Ok, I get it now...lol

They looked very good, but I watched the Texas vs. Kansas game after (I think) and remember thinking OSU would struggle at times with both of those teams. Yesterday, I don't think anyone would have beat OSU.
I'm not saying they were not deserving of a #1 ranking, because they are. But when you watch the #1 team, you expect to see elite play. -
swamisezIt was obvious OSU has much better skill players on the floor than Purdue, the Boilers really couldn't do a thing to stop dribble penetration by Craft (which is hard to fathom given he is an undersized...forgive me...white point guard), nor could they do much on recovering the backside on a ball reversal.
This was what I found so surprising at last night's game, Purdue simply did not come to play or defend at all. The first good defensive possession they had came at the 4 or so minute mark in the first half. By then the game was far from over.
Purdue certainly didn't play like a #12 team in the country, and Ohio State capitalized and made an exclamation point. Is Ohio State this good night in night out, definitely not. However, beating a "rival" (are they rivals?) on your home court, being up by as many as 30, on national television in primetime is something to hang your hat on. A win that you will always look back fondly on (which is why I said it was one for the ages).
I do wonder as well what OSU would look like against Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Washington, Tennessee.
I guess we will find out in March though. -

Don't totally disagree. And Purdue is usually a very good defensive team. But they were so concerned with Sullinger (double teaming), and he is so good at passing out of that, that OSU torched them. OSU can flat out shoot the ball. Last nite, all of them were pretty much on. But even if one or more are off, there seems to be someone else able to step up. That is why they are so dangerous. You double down, Sullinger kicks it out for a shot or drive to the basketbal. If you don't double Sullinger...he will score and draw fouls on the inside. This OSU team has MANY weapons. They are not one dimensional. They can shot, have a legit post player AND have slashers to the basket. Very well rounded team that can be difficult to defend.swamisez;653929 wrote:

Completely agree. The thing that impressed me most is that they made Purdue look very average last night. And the defensive intensity was the best it's been all year. I think they proved to themselves just how good they can be. Everyone knew they were a very good team, but I think it's fair to say that this team can be great.centralbucksfan;653974 wrote:Don't totally disagree. On a side note, Mark Titus had a tweet comparing the 2006 team and this 2011 team. He said (and I paraphrase) that this 2011 team is better built for success, however the 2006 team would have beat them straight up. -

I've disparaged OSU's schedule as much or more than anyone. But, their wins are no less impressive than most any other team. Other than Michigan State, most of the top- ranked teams choose to play cupcakes. There fore, no team has a large number of impressive wins.Make a claim for any of those teams not named Illinois being an impressive win for OSU. None of their schedules are good.
As for Purdue, they earned their ranking and they are still worthy of being ranked in the top 25.That just points to the fact that college basketball is very average this year, just as it was last year. -
thedynasty1998The schedule is irrelevant at this point. If OSU would have lost to Illinois and Purdue, then maybe there would be reason to discuss it. But they won both and their quality wins are irrelevant because they will be a top 2 seed in the tournament.

vball10setvery impressive win by the Buckeyes...now, on to Evanston Saturday to take on a dangerous Northwestern team--- GO BUCKS!!!
-
sleeperThe sad part is Ohio State could go undefeated and you will still have people bashing them. I enjoy it, people hate us because we are the best and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

No no no!
There is a difference between saying a team had an impressive half (going 23/29 in one half) and saying a team had an impressive win. -

Ya, the difference is an impressive win counts for something and an impressive half is a stupid talking point. -

This is exactly my point..every team is going to struggle at times this season, especially against elite competition. So when you see fans say "if Craft can play like this, no one can come close to us" you have to point out how wrong that is. -

Don't disagree.
This board is good for discussing college basketball, so I thought people would like to discuss that game and the fact KU was shooting 80% from the field, something you rarely see. Sure it doesn't mean anything, but its impressive. -
