Kalis leaving stings but there's still hope with the guys you've mentioned. I still don't know why Kozan hasn't been offered yet. Dodson would make me a happy man if we could pry him out of Wisky's hands.

Didn't hear that. He is 6 3 and 275. I think he is a guard/center all the way. Bigger than Zach and will probably end up more of Justin's size. Just not as fat.

Boren will not end up being a FB. He is too big. He will most likely be a guard.

I think I read about it either on Duane Long's blog or over on Ozone. Basically the rumblings were with Homan and Z. Boren the only two scholarship FB's on the roster and both being juniors, the younger Boren could get a shot at FB.

Honestly, I don't know much about Jacoby. I didn't know how athletic he is or if he has experience in the backfield. But when I first read about it, I did find it kind of stupid seeing as how the OL always needs depth and you can probably switch someone over from a position with more depth, like LB or TE, to FB and it be an easier transition since they generally have better ball skills and athleticism.

David Durham switched to FB so he will be a reshirt freshman this year at that position.

Lol at espn announcing kalis' decision.

Losing Kalis doesn't hurt, if anything it helps. He isn't a true Buckeye and he's welcome to lose to OSU 4 times in his career and never winning anything important.

I don't like losing Ohio kids to scUM...and especially (supposedly) good OL, when our OL recruiting has sucked ass for years under Bollman. He recruits too few and doesn't develop the ones he gets often enough.

OSU needs a good OL recruiting class NOW, or they're going to have to play a number of true freshmen in a couple years because of lack of depth.

if they don't want to be Buckeyes--fuck 'em....we need kids who want to wear the Scarlet and Gray (and the recruitment of Brewster, Adams, Shugarts, etc. sucked ass?)

I don't normally pay that much attention to recruiting, but I've been following a little more this off-season due to the current situation at OSU. I'm definitely disappointed to lose Kalis, but I'm just really having a hard time understanding it.

He thinks he wants to decommit after Tressel resigns, but Fickell convinces him to stay committed. Then he'll "stick with Ohio State as long as Fickell is the coach, and he'll step up as a leader to help finish out a great recruiting class", or something like that. Then he decommits, says that he's gonna wait and see what type of sanctions OSU actually gets, and then make a decision. Then, almost immediately, he commits to Michigan and begins to help recruiting for them.

Who the hell is advising this kid? If he truly wanted to be a Buckeye, he would wait and see what happens on August 12th. He has been an Ohio State fan his entire life, wants to be a Buckeye, and then all of the sudden he's all about Michigan? I guess I just can't fathom how you dump your "dream school" for their archrival before you know what type of sanctions the NCAA is going to hand out. Seems to me that Brady Hoke and UM staff may be selling him hard on the "OSU is gonna get hammered" stuff. If, I repeat IF, OSU gets light sanctions, and this kid wants to come to OSU again, I would tell him "We're all full" and proceed to kick his ass for four years.

Despite being on the good end of this situation, I agree with you.

If Kalis wasn't going to be a Buckeye, I'm glad he's going to UM. OSU has a chance to show him on a yearly basis that he made the wrong decision.

he recruits pretty good. but i agree that the buckeyes OL prospects haven't really developed well (or at all) since Orlando Pace.

Kalis went to Michigan because at Ohio State you have to have more than a pulse to play on Saturdays. He's not a competitor, he wouldn't see the field at OSU anyway.

Lol, pretty funny how hes discredited as soon as he doesnt pick OSU. But not surprising

    Kalis:
I believe the Michigan-Ohio border is now open. I think you're going to see eight or nine guys from the state of Ohio going over to Michigan this year."

Who is discrediting him (besides sleeper, lol)?

All people are saying is that they are glad he's going to UM if he really didn't want to be a Buckeye. I see nothing wrong with that.
  • OneBuckeye
I'm pretty sure that has already happend. UM has 9 Ohio Commits right now. When Wormley commits that will be 10.

Hell, when Bo was coaching UM, three fourths of the team was from Ohio. Ohio players representing that cesspool are nothing new. There is a lot of D-1 talent born in Ohio (unlike *ichigan...which produces mostly crap). They have to go out of state to find decent players.

I've always though it was weird how one state has better high school football than another, especially when they touch borders and both have big football universities.

Not true. Him choosing to go to Michigan is what I'm making the basis on, he's not a winner otherwise he'd go to a winning school. At Michigan, he will likely sleep walk his way onto a starting role, while at OSU he'll actually have to wake up and get to work every day if he ever wants to see the field.

It's like discrediting a world class runner after he broke his leg. The breaking of the leg shows me that he will no longer be world class.

It comes down to the culture of the state.

In Ohio, football is king. Always has been. The Pro Hall of Fame is here for a reason. That the best coaches in the country have routinely come from here is not a coincidence. It goes all the way back to the days of people like Paul Brown and John Heisman, and continues to this day with folks like Saban, Meyer, Stoops, and Tressel.

That great coaching starts at the high school level, and it's one reason the quality of the play is arguably top 5 in the country. The playoff system used in Ohio has been called the best in the country by some experts as well. So you've got great coaching and a system that prepares kids for the tough environment they'll be playing in.

Wow, Kyle Kalis' stepdad just called into a radio show in Cleveland to say his son was "being manipulated by Brady Hoke."
    This should be interesting....
  • Writerbuckeye
That should add a bit more spice to the rivalry if it's true.
