Notre Dame Football 2011: The Brian Kelly Era...Ascends?
-
Tobias FünkeHe's played for one year, it's not like he's doomed for a terrible NFL career.
He might be, but that wouldn't be unlike a ton of very good college receivers who couldn't cut it in the NFL. If I remember correctly, Tate won a starting spot in training camp but then lost it. He is good enough to play. -

Portland, Ore., DE/OLB Brennan Scarlett is scheduled to make his decision within the next 30 minutes. ISD will bring you the news. -
dat dudeScarlett to Cal.
-
karen lotzYup, good luck to him.
And at least it wasn't USC or Stanford. -
Tobias FünkeBummer, but Notre Dame would be loaded with a capital L at DE if Lynch commits, so I'm not overly upset. I'd much rather see him at Cal than USC of Stanford.

Tobias FünkeI definitely didn't type that twice. Odd.
-
karen lotzScarlett choosing Cal could be a blessing in disguise at it relates to the 85 scholarship max.

Tobias FünkeCarlisle is announcing this Saturday. Between Notre Dame, Stanford, and USC. I guess he's taking an OV to USC, but I have to imagine it would come out of nowhere for him to go there.
Williams is going to show up to school on Sunday, with no formal announcement. I think he picks Penn State.
As previously mentioned, Lynch is coming to Notre Dame Friday---errr, tomorrow, and will decide henceforth.
I think we get Lynch, maybe get Carlisle, and don't get Williams. I could live with that.
Huggins is taking an OV to Michigan State. Please God, if he's not going to Notre Dame send him to Auburn. -
Tobias FünkeNotre Dame at #19 here.

...and #20 here, in a poll made before the bowl game. Ohio State is #19, which is an absolute joke.

Hamp89I just saw that. HUGE! Diaco flew to Brooklyn and had a 4:30am meeting with Ishaq and his dad. Great news!
-
Crimson streakAmazing news!!!!!
-
bababooeyBob Diaco did in fact visit Ishaq at 4:30 AM, and that's what really put ND over the top.
"He showed up with his hair perfectly coiffed and his loaders shined," joked Williams. "At 4:30 in the morning Diaco didn't have to verbalize how important Ishaq was to them."
"Penn State was going to be the announcement last week (at the Army game)," continued Williams. "But he made his decision (for Notre Dame) this morning as Diaco was walking out the door."
"When he took football out of the equation, it seemed like the best place for a unique academic experience." -
rock_knutneWow, this is big. ND's future on defense keeps getting better and better.
-
Crimson streakNow if lynch commits.... Oh my
-
karen lotzDiaco is awesome.
-
The EqualizerAnd why wouldn't lynch want to be a part of what could be a frightening defense for 4 years?
-
karen lotzScout has ND's class ranked #5 with Ishaq aboard.
*And before ccrunner chimes in, Williams already was rated a 5 star guy before committing. Also, Notre Dame hasn't won anything with these guys yet. Also, Ohio State has the 2nd ranked class. Let me know if I forgot anything. -
killer_ewokYES!!!!
-
Tobias FünkeI saw this at work and wanted to break the news but that damn "u" in funke isn't accessible via blackberry. At least not to my knowledge haha either way I was running around the Union jumping for joy.
This is HUGE. Like, he was a Nittany Lion until 4:29 this morning. Fucking unbelievable job by Diaco. Give that man a raise.
Can anyone remember the last time Notre Dame had a defensive class this highly touted? -
Tobias FünkeDiaco is visiting with Huggins right now before Huggins goes to Michigan State. What a fucking champ.
...also, Notre Dame is #20 here.
