First OSU team meeting

OneBuckeye^ Time will tell, but there is 0 percent chance IMO that all of the stay and non go to the NFL.

Can you cite some sources? I don't think you can do this. When you redshirt a season, you do not participate. Therefore, no games would have counted. -

Just because they did it doesn't mean they will honor it, but it is the reason you will see them play in the Sugar Bowl -
Mr. 300I could see Tress doing this, as he wants to make an example to the rest of the team. You do the crime you pay the time. However, as I stated earlier, I would rather have him kick their sorry butts off for the bowl game and move on.

The reason they play in the sugar bowl is the NCAA doesn't want the sugar bowl to lose money because they don't play. Why do you think they weren't suspended? It has nothing to do a contract and everything to do with OSU putting the best players on the field for the bowl game, and not letting the big 10, NCAA and Sugar Bowl suffer as a result. -

No, it has to do with the contract. Just because the NCAA didn't suspend them, doesn't mean Tressel couldn't suspend them. Pryor and Adams confirmed it with my source. -
OneBuckeye^ Sure Tressel could suspend them, I am not arguing that but the reason they are not suspended I stated above.

Tressel told them that he was not going to play them as a tryout for the NFL. If they wanted to play in the Sugar Bowl, they had to be comitted to the program and their teammates. You can think what you want, but I am just telling you what came from Pryor and Adam's mouths. -
Pick6Watching the OK St vs Zona game last night..the announcers mentioned Blackmon (top NCAA receiver, even breaking Fitzgerald's records) was arrested this season for a DUI, not to mention he was underage. All this kid gets is a one game suspension by his coach. Its nice to see these dick wads we call the NCAA have their priorities in line.

Midstate01Jim Tressel said suspended players were required to decide to come back for senior season before being allowed to play in bowl. Via Twitter

vball10setIMO, Coach Tressel will suspend these players for at least a half for the Sugar Bowl, but won't announce it until right before the game...it would be a proactive move in hopes the NCAA will reduce the five game suspension by showing "good faith" (for lack of a better term). To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the OSU powers-that-be have already spoke to the NCAA about this and he sits them for the entire game--but only if the NCAA gave some type of assurance that this move would go a long way in their decision to reduce the suspension.

This is 100% true. -

Guess you were right... Tressel said in his presser he had them sign something. However, that doesn't mean they are coming back but it certainly puts the ball in their court and will only make themselves look good or bad. (Great move by Tressel) I would kind of like to see Boom go just because of depth. Anyway I think it is overall good news. If they get their suspension reduced to 4 games all will not be lost.
I think this impacts Braxton Miller more then anyone. Do we not redshirt him because he will probably be our best QB for the first 4-5 games especially since he is enrolling early. Do you think Kenny G, Joe B or Graham can hand the ball off and not turn it over to beat Miami Colorado and possibly Michigan State? I am not sure. -

LJBTW it was also confirmed by the same source that the majority of the money really went to the families of Posey, Pryor, Boom and Thomas.

I believed the contract thing, but really doubt this lol
Not saying you're wrong or your sources are wrong, but I just do not believe this. -
OneBuckeye^ Why not? Pryor's Mom lives with him and I don't think actually works and if she does, she does not make much. Posey's mom is on record saying it is hard for her to make ends meet. Adams went to a school district loaded with money which tells me his parents must not be bad off, Boom went to a poor district. Make sense to me.

Well, he only repeats things he is sure of. He is extremely close with a few of the guys. I believe him 100%. -

Really?
I mean I guess it COULD be true...are you familiar with their families' economic wealth? I know one of them, and his family I never thought was struggling for cash or anything. Nice house, good kids, I donno.
I just think they probably told your source this to cover up what they really did with the money..I mean that's waht I would do haha
