First OSU team meeting

Pryor truly showed what a thug he is. The rest of these so called "student-athletes" are just sorry they got caught. Anybody who is shocked that this happened at lily white, The Ohio State University is an idiot and a moron. Don't be surprised if more of this comes out. Tressel has recruited his share of thugs.

Just going off of your screen name, I hope to God you're a MSU fan. This would be epically ironic.

Of course they could do that. But I don't think it would happen.

Selling your own poesessions makes someone a thug? Holy shit, I've heard it all now

How can you be so sure they could do that? Doing so would negate the entire NCAA penalty. If they red shirt would they not still have to serve a 5 game penalty/suspension?

You serve the 5 games, and then they slap the red shirt on them after they serve the suspension. Same thing Oregon was going to do with Masoli before he got strike 50 against him and left there.

    McShay's latest article says:
All of that means Pryor would be outside the top five at his position on our draft board. Andrew Luck, Blaine Gabbert, Jake Locker, Cam Newton and Ryan Mallett would all rank ahead of Pryor, who would be the No. 6 quarterback with a third-round grade based mostly on his potential to move to wide receiver if he doesn't make big strides as a quarterback early in his NFL career.

All that results in is a red shirt year. No penalty. I would not be so sure that they would be able to do this.

    Irrelevant Georgia?
  • Red Saul
I really dont know if they would be allowed to do that.
  • OQB
As long as they have not yet had their red shirt they are able to use it.

It would almost be better to do this because of the uncertainty of the NFL and the lockout...the 2012 draft may not even happen, so if they would all redshirt they could have another year to develop and play their redshirt senior years in 2012 then enter the 2013 draft.

Oh boo boo hoo. They only crapped and cried 'cause they got caught in potentially ruining what is a top notch program. They see the writing on the wall, and know this will be their last game as a Buckeye. I just wish Tress would step up and banish them from the bowl game and get ready for next year. This program has studs in waiting, so let the young dogs feast on the demise of these punks.

Braxton Miller has got to be smiling to himself right now.

apparently there is some kind of contract between Tress and the players that they signed saying that he will allow them to play in the bowl game if they promise to come back next year and serve out their suspensions

Wut??? I highly doubt this where have you heard this? This makes 0 sense on so many levels.

They would most certainly be allowed to do it. It has been done before. I highly doubt any of them will do it however.

with all due respect, this is one of the dumbest things I've seen on this thread--there is NO WAY that Coach Tressel or anyone else had a contract to this point...btw, got a link??

No link, it's from someone I know who works with the team.
Apparently the players did sign something with Tressel saying that they will return next season to allow them to play in the bowl game. Nothing legally binding but still even a little more concrete than "my word."

    ^^^^^

    I seriously doubt this
  • OneBuckeye
How could this contract keep them from leaving to the NFL? Dumb. No way this is true.
  • Red Saul
Then what is the point of a suspension if you can just red shirt after the suspension is over?
  • LJ
OneBuckeye;617908 wrote:How could this contract keep them from leaving to the NFL? Dumb. No way this is true.

It's not a legal contract, it is just an agreement between the players and Tress. Essentially saying "I won't ditch you if you don't ditch me"

    and it is 100% true.
