Wait, you were able to comprehend enough of it to even make a determination regarding the seriousness of it? -
Ender WigginWhen I was a freshman I sold my $2000 Science Olympiad ring. I didnt get as much as a talking to. Im sure that was individually more expensive than any item they had.

To be fair people said the same thing about Hartline, now hes a starter in the NFL. -

Let's pay coaches with free tuition too. Wonder how many coaches would still be in the NCAA if they only got free graduate degrees and doctorates. I mean, that's like a 200k+ value, that's payment enough!Ytowngirlinfla;612651 wrote:Exactly. I don't get why people think they are entitled to being paid. I mean most people work for large corporations and make them money, I know they get paid a salary but a free education is equal or better than most salaries.
I'm on board with making the NCAA a completely education-oriented system, but let's make that go for everyone involved, not just the players. -

This is true, and with the talent that Devier has, it is very possible that he could have a successful career. It just would have been a much greater risk(prior to this) to leave early and get drafted pretty late, than to have a solid senior year and get drafted earlier. -

I definitely agree, but funny thing the NFL is. Ginn was supposed to be a star, *sad trombone*. Semi related, my little brothers greatest accomplishment is beating both of them in races back in high school lol. -
flydubbingDoes it seem odd that all 5 players are black. I would think that the bad economy and the socio-economic conditions that motivated the 5 to sell their unwanted debris, would also affect the white players. Or is this just a stastical anomaly?

Are you shitting me!?!? Hartline was twice the receiver at OSU than Posey ever hoped to be. Hartline caught the ball in traffic and over the middle. Posey so far has been strictly a sideline streaker...and we all know one pass he missed one gimme that almost cost the Iowa game. His name should be Devier Poseur.Ender Wiggin;612906 wrote:To be fair people said the same thing about Hartline, now hes a starter in the NFL. -

Naw. The rich white players with tatoos paid for their own tatoos or asked their under-taxed and over-paid white parents to pay for them The poor black players with homeless, starving families are unfortunate victims in this unfair system that's obviously biased against black college football players.flydubbing;613021 wrote:Does it seem odd that all 5 players are black. It's not a statistical anomaly. They simply had to do what they had to do even if it broke NCAA rules. -

DUMB.
Big difference in who you are and who these boys are. People actually give two shits about them.... nothing about you. -

was it against the rules of the governing body known as the SOA (Science Olympiad Association)? I didn't think so :rolleyes:Ender Wiggin;612903 wrote:When I was a freshman I sold my $2000 Science Olympiad ring. I didnt get as much as a talking to. TiernanI hope for his sake Ender was being sarcastic with the Science Olympiad comparison which was funny in that case...but if he was actually being serious, that is just kind of sad and I feel sorry for him.
Hey Terrelle...would you sell your Mama's wedding ring given the chance to do so? Oh wait, that's right I forgot. Never mind. -

He continues to make himself look silly. Some of us keep bringing up Title IX and other impediments to paying players and he instead resorts to this sort of nonsense.
By his logic, I should have access to the same resources as the CEO of my company because I just happen to be the one "sweating" on the front lines. -

I'm not saying that Posey will not be a productive pro... he might be. But everything I have seen from him thus far suggests that he is a little game player. He generally earns the vast majority of his numbers by snacking on cupcakes like Minnesota and Indiana.
You can't argue about his talent, but I would agree that to this point, the majority of his routes are of the "go" variety. -
Be NiceThere's a lot of speculation in todays paper and on the news that it's in their best interest to not come back. IMO they won't be back. The agents have already come a'knock'in.

Everyone knows about Title IX. Myself, along with other people that are likely ignoring your constant mentioning of it, are probably in favor of scrapping it. I'd be in favor of doing away with it even if it wasn't to allow athletes to be paid. It's an out-dated, counter-productive law.jordo212000;613089 wrote:He continues to make himself look silly. The players aren't just the one's sweating it out, they're the ones with the unique skill-set that is the driving force behind all the money the NCAA makes. If talent-level of the players didn't matter, D3 ball could easily substitute for D1.
Generally pay is given out based upon the value, and scarcity, of the skill-set the employee brings to the job. So it's not a valid comparison to compare NCAA players to guys working a manufacturing line or whatever you're trying to do.

Yes, I did think Posey would go. There aren't too many other WR's outside of those mentioned that would be taken before Posey. -

Yes, there are.
Ryan Broyles, Jonathan Baldwin, Michael Floyd, Ronald Johnson, Austin Pettis all could be taken before Posey. That puts Posey about 4th round. I think he woulda gone higher next year (well I guess he can if he stays, its still speculation he's gone). -

WebFireSo for those that advocate playing college football players, how do you propose paying them and how much? What is your system?

Be Nice^^^If they play defense:
1 tackle = $2.00
2 tackles = $3.00
3 tackles = one free tattoo
offense:
completed pass = $2.00
5 to 10 yard gain = $3.00
touchdown = one free tattoo
