Suspended! OSU players Pryor, Adams. Herron, Posey and Thomas. How many...

Prescott
Fans, like many on here, have years and years invested in OSU athletics.Players only have a few years invested.Another thing I find comical in this is all the rhetoric that these guys don't respect the tradition of OSU football... -
bogeyExactly Prescott --- I guess it just amazes me that people can't separate that fact. And, I am in no way approving of what they did, I cannot see myself selling a championship ring or a pair of gold pants if I had been so fortunate to earn those. One thing I've learned is that you expect this stuff to happen with today's athletes, it just sucks when it happens to your team!

PrescottSuspended Buckeyes should cut ties with unfair system, turn pro

Con_AlmaI agree they should turn pro. Being a student was a waste of their time. Let those who come to learn do so.

buddybrownMark May is exactly correct. OSU fans should be outraged that Pryor sold these items. Just like (Dr.) Robert Smith and Troy Smith, Terrell is a piece of garbage.
Robert Smith seeked attention by crying foul on Earl Bruce for making him miss a class. Oh yeah, because he wanted to be a dr. LOLOLOL.....
Troy Smith sat on the sidelines during the National title game raping laughing it up with his buddies.
And Now,
This idiot Pryor sells items that mean something to OSU fans, but obviously not to this idiot. If Pryor really needed money maybe he should give up his condo or his chrysler 300 or stop eating at roadhouse 3 days week for steak. -
TiernanHow about Devier's Mommy crying about how unfair the NCAA rules are to begin with "...they be forcin these players to make bad decisions to be helpin their families." So you admit it was a bad decision huh?
What about the $100,000 value of 4 yrs of college Mrs. Posey? I s'pose that ain't be helpin yo fammy either. -

I cannot believe I'm agreeing with a Michigan fan but WebFire - you sir - are spot on.WebFire;612433 wrote:I find it comical how much everyone has turned on TP and is now saying the same things a few others here were saying all along...and getting hammered for it.
I've never been a TP fan, and it had nothing to do with being a Michigan fan and he being a Buckeye (ok, maybe a little to do with it). I just never thought he was as good as OSU fans wanted to believe. But more importantly, I thought he was very selfish and in it for himself.
I have to admit this is a bit gratifying. -
Tigerfan00Why dont she go tell that to parents who are paying major money to put their kid or kids through college and see how much sympathy she gets.
It really gets me when someone gets busted or punished they want to point the finger and say its someone elses fault. -
lhslep134Wait Gene Smith thinks players should be paid also?
Looks like I'm not such an idiot on my Whitlock thread Jordo -
gerb131I'd get a Pro Bono lawyer yesterday myself.

I never called you an idiot. I said that paying players was 100% unfeasible with Title IX. And it is. Not only would you have to pay women, you'd have to pay the bowlers and rifle shooters at the college (and all other non revenue sports). Those sports already lose lots of money. The moment they have to pay those guys, all those sports will go away. We'll have football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball. That's it.Wait Gene Smith thinks players should be paid also?

And that right there is the major issue with paying players. I believe Football and mens basketball are the ONLY sports that make money. Myself, I don't buy into paying players. These players get enough the way it is. They don't just get education paid for..they get so many perks its unreal. Now, can the NCAA loosen up many of their rules to help players out, absolutely they could. But paying opens up a huge can of worms IMO. -

I read the article, it's a complete joke. Plenty of players have come out and said that they get plenty of enough money while playing college football. It's just a sob story now from the Poseys since they've been caught.
*They get nearly $100k worth of free education (sometimes more if it is a private school)
*They get to play on hallowed grounds that most would kill to play on
*They live in special housing that regular students do not get access to (at Ohio State anyways)
*They get a stipend that people like me who attended college would have liked to have had
*They can have any girl they want
Here it is, if they don't think the system is more than fair, then don't accept the scholarship and take a moral stand. Fact is, there are more than enough people out there who are grateful for the free education and the opportunity to showcase their skills. If you want to be paid like a professional, go get a job Posey and quit playing football -

Exactly. I don't get why people think they are entitled to being paid. I mean most people work for large corporations and make them money, I know they get paid a salary but a free education is equal or better than most salaries. -

I'll take someone's opinion who is actually responsible for paying the bills (Mrs. Posey) than yours, sorry. If she says it's not enough, who are you to question that? -

Because they make millions for the university and are exploited for their talents to generate revenue.
I don't see other college students being exploited to make money for the university. You're comparing apples to oranges. -

Tell little Devier to go get a job then and take a moral stand against "the unfair" system. Nobody said he had to go to Ohio State and play WR. However, once he did there are certain rules that need to be followed. He is not above the rules and since he did break rules, he now has to suffer consequences. -

They make millions in revenues, yes, but revenue does not equal profit. Something like 10 total colleges/universities earn profit from athletics. How are all these schools going to pay people when they themselves are losing money? -

Are you serious? Where is he going to work? And how is he going to bend the time-space continuum to add more hours to a day to work? These guys are up at 6 or 7 every morning for workouts, then have class, then have practice.
I barely have enough time to work and I play a club sport that doesn't require 25% of the time commitment of football. Terrible argument.
Football is their job. I'm willing to bet they put more time into football than any student at OSU puts into their job. And since they generate so much revenue for their "job" pay the damn kids. -

There's more funds to pay people than just the universities themselves, it's mentioned in that article I posted. -

I'm saying that if his family situation was so dire... then he should go get a job down in Cincy so that he can help them get by. Plenty of young adults go through this decision process all the time. (Their family doesn't have money, so they have to contribute to the family's income by working and forgoing college). Just because he happens to be good at football doesn't make him any better than these people who are in similar situations.
He is the one who agreed to abide by the rules and he knew that the benefits of playing D-1 college football would be felt more in the future than right now in the present and he still chose to break the rules.
