Please don't tell me that Zwick isn't in the NFL because he didn't get to play either. Matt Cassel is living proof that you don't have to start to play in the NFL. The guy that beat him out at USC is collecting moss on the bench in Houston.

Also.. Smith plays for the 49ers right now. Where is Zwick? He's not in the league and he is probably pimping out his name to some insurance agency in the greater Columbus area

I guess Tiernan is a better talent evaluator than any scouts on NFL teams haha. If you have talent, NFL teams will take you in. Smith is on an NFL roster, Zwick isn't. And like fathobbit said, I too commend Zwick for handling the situation with class and not griping about playing time at OSU and stepping up in the Oklahoma State game when TS was suspended. But Ryan Hamby didn't ruin Zwick's career. Zwick did. And like enigmaax said, even if Zwick completes that pass to Hamby, it was only a matter of time before Smith regained the starting job and wouldn't look back.

I think it has more to do with mechanics than athleticism, because Pryor is super athletic.
enigmaax;491748 wrote:Maybe not before their careers played out. But we have the benefit of hindsight and we are evaluating history, not who we thought we'd want more before they were done. If you gave me my choice to have Trent Dilfer and win a Super Bowl or Dan Marino and not win a Super Bowl, I'd take Trent Dilfer, yes.
That's not the question, it's not who has done what, it's who is the better QB. Just as this list is to rank who the best OSU QB's are; a list with who the best NFL QB's are would have Marino much higher than Dilfer. Factoring in wins in certain games doesn't amount to whom the best QB is at any level.

For the record, I have no problem with you thinking Boeckman is the better of the two at the moment. I just don't happen to agree with it. IMO, Pryor overall is the better of the two. Yes, Boeckman had the better arm (at this point), but he wasn't elusive and couldn't make plays. Pryor has 2 years to get a NC and I believe he will have one by the time he leaves OSU. JMO

The OL that OSU had at the time was mediocre. They could not protect a drop back style passer like Zwick but could make passable shade blocks for a scrambler like Smith. Like I said without the necessary grooming received from playing 3 yrs of big-time college ball Zwick was not mentally prepared for the NFL. Those of us who really know our shit, know Troy Smith cost us the TX game and probably took a dive in the FL game for a couple thousand bucks...a fairly substantiated story that Anthony Gonzalez would be gald to tell you all about.

Ok but Matt Cassel disagrees with you about players needing 3 years of seeing playing time in college ball to become an NFL starter. If you have talent, even if its not necessarily realized, you will be on an NFL roster, NFL teams take chances on guys all the time. Zwick started like 8 or 9 games in his college career, which there have been plenty of guys that have played in the NFL that only started for a comparable amount of time in college. And everyone faces adversity at some point in time or another. Troy Smith could have mailed it in after his suspension and just given up. And since you really know your shit, please enlighten all of us to how Troy Smith cost OSU the Texas game. And if you honestly believe the Smith threw the Florida game...I don't even know what to tell you.

Smith cost us the TX game by getting the suspension in the first place numnutz! Tressel should have never tried the ol' 2 - QBs in one game BS...it never works at any level from pee-wees to pros. QBs need to know they have the confidence of their coach, fellow players and yes, even the fans during a game to perform at their highest effiiency. When Tress started playing musical QB in the TX game neither one of them really had a chance. But Smith because of his own stupid choices should have been benched the entire game. I don't criticize too many things Tress does, but this bonehead move was one I'm sure even he has wished he had another shot at. As for the FL game yes I fully 100% believe Smith threw the game as do many of his teammates, like I said ask AG sometime.

I just googled "troy smith paid off" and a bunch of other related phrases and the only "substantiated" claim I could find was a facebook group called "ted ginn is a pussy and troy smith got paid off" that had 22 members. I know there are rumors that he boned Gonzo's girl before the game, but I've never heard anything about him getting paid off. Troy Smith may not have played well but Troy Smith didn't give up 41 points. Its stupid to put the Florida game square on his shoulders when the entire team looked slow and lethargic at the hands of a superior team that night.

I'm not going to argue anymore about the Zwick vs Smith thing anymore. This is so dumb.

You don't have the inside info I have and consequently you'll forever be wrong. But you aren't alone, Smith has 99.9% of the rest of Buckeye Nation fooled too.

Hahaha ok. That marks the end of this discussion. I don't take facebook groups with 22 members as a very serious "source".

trep, I'm not sure why you are even addressing Tiernan. The guy had the fail of the year during the Michigan-Umass game. Ever notice he is always the contrarian voice no matter what the topic at hand is?
  • Tiernan
a typo was fail of the year on this board? Wow you must not read many posts.
  • Fly4Fun
A typo? You claimed a non-existent Kick return for a TD and refused to accept that you were wrong about the score and the events of the game. That's not a typo... that's having no clue what you are talking about.

Nah, wasn't that hard to remember because you made a thread when there was already a game thread. In the thread, you had 4 posts a couple of which contained laughably wrong information that just showed you had no idea what you were talking about. And I have a memory span at least longer than a gold fish so it wasn't hard to remember what transpired.

Can you make this the tagline to all your posts? I don't always remember who the idiots on here are by name, but if I saw this garbage, I'd make sure to ignore the post....
Internet fanboys who claim inside info are funny....

will do. actually I kinda like that.

Or the thread he made that was titled "scUM Getting ***-Whooped by Sub-Division Team...Again!"

The posts which I refer to come from said thread... and he also later made the same false claims in the real game thread I believe.

Funny stuff though. I'm a huge OSU fan, and I wish he'd just go away. At least Sleeper is somewhat amusing some of the time.

I can't agree with you on that one. I find it incredibly lame and sad. Dude must have no life. Didn't we discover that sleeper and Al capone were the same guy?

Yes, but it's not funny. I wish people would stop responding to him.
