Were I part of an opponent of Ohio State I would be worried if anyone said that it was intimidating.

^^^huh ? anyway, let 'em think it's not intimidating, that's okay--just wait 'til they get here

If I was a player on Miami's team I would be concerned if anyone thought an opponents stadium was intimidating. I would expect all my teammates and outside supports to say exactly what the reporter stated.

Last year Vs. Iowa in Overtime was the loudest I've ever heard one particular place ever be.... I couldn't even hear the person a couple seats down from me. They'll realize how loud and intimidating the Shoe' can be come Saturday

I think it can be a very big part of the game. It certainly will be fun to watch.

This game should be at 8.

Miami will be in for a rude awakening if they don't think 105,000+ screaming their brains out isn't intimidating. This ain't your local high school football stadium, this is one of the premier football stadiums in the country. The pulse of the stadium will make you sweat bullets, your heart will beat faster, and you will make mistakes, bank it.

...especially if you think that coming in.

They will definitely think that coming out.

Maybe so but the point of the article wasn't the expected mindset after the game but rather what the writer believes now, before the game.

Basically his entire article is unsubstantiated. If he said, "I've been to games in Columbus, big games, like Michigan and USC, and it wasn't as loud or intimidating as games I've been to in Tallahassee, and Gainsville, and Blacksburg," that would have been fine. That's an informed statement based on personal anecdotal experience. However, it sounds like this guy is just saying stuff, but has never been to a game at the Horseshoe. Honestly, I don't care what this guy says, I'll take the dozens of players, coaches, and commentators who have stated that this place is one of the loudest and most difficult places to stay. As Vince Young put it, Ohio Stadium was by far the loudest stadium he ever played in.

Ohio Stadium is probably not too intimidating..........

    For a newspaper.

Miami has played in big enough games, where they won't be "intimidated". That doesn't mean that there isn't a home field advantage, but why be "intimidated" of playing in front of anyone. If anything, they would be intimidated of Cam Heyword, or Tressel's coaching or Pryor, but not the fans.

I agree. I'm not saying they won't be intimidated but asking why is relevant. There's no good answer.

I don't think it's a big deal to admit that an opponents stadium is a tough place to play. I think everyone knows that Wisconsin's crowd can be very roudy and it doesn't bother me that people (even players and coaches) admit it.

Okay, so I just looked at this guy's Twitter and he said that Miami is "simulating crowd noise at OSU by blaring two loud speakers during practice."

He also said "Will be making my first trip to the Horseshoe"

So basically this guy is just talking out of his ass. Gives no facts to back up his claim that the Horseshoe isn't intimidating and has no personal experience to go on either.

Sounds about right. He's trying to make a ridiculous statement so people pay attention to him.

I don't think it's a big deal either. I would, however, be concerned if I ever had teammates that thought it was intimidating. I understand that this is a reporter as opposed to players. Reporters have no impact in my eyes. It's simply one man's opinion.

I just read through the comments and the author had this to say in response to comments made by Buckeye fans:
A few quick points: Yes I’ll be there Saturday. No I haven’t been to the Horseshoe before. Yes I’m hoping I’m proven wrong about the noise, but doubt I will be. No, I never said Sun Life Stadium was a better crowd or even near as good as that weekly at Ohio Stadium. Sun Life Stadium crowd for ‘Canes games in general is quite disappointing. My personal opinion: college teams shouldn’t play their games in pro stadium. As I mentioned in my blog, Yes I agree, University of Michigan’s crowd is sad. Finally, I find it quite ridiculous when fans from the Midwest, or even Midwest residents (I lived in Lansing, Mich. for six years), claim toughness based on how you can handle the cold. It’s like making fun of northern teams and how they handle suffocating saturdays in the south in september. How you handle weather is a horrible measuring stick for toughness.

you always have a choice...and remember, these are 18-22 year old kids who have never played here before, and it's it's natural to fear the unknown--so it WILL be intimidating!!!
  • Con_Alma
We don't have a choice in what they think. We can't either allow it or disallow it. It won't matter.

You stating, "let them think ....", as if we can permit their thoughts or not was why I asked if anyone had a choice.

    LOL--you're giving me a headache....GO BUCKS!!!!

Agree. Not sure the word "intimidating" is the correct word to use in terms of playing in another stadium. But if they don't think the noise level/home crowd wont' affect things such as OSU energy level...then they are kidding themselves.
  • Con_Alma
Seeing how the are piping noise into their practice I don't think they believe that at all.
