Pryor "I want to leave a legacy (at OSU) That's why I'm staying four years"

devil1197thedynasty1998;448195 wrote:I think we are confusing depth with loaded. Obviously they are deep. And to respond to my stalker, no one gives a shit how many stars you have once you step onto campus. Will Berry become a star? Maybe, and I surely hope so. But at this point, OSU is loaded with a bunch of average RB's, for OSU's standards.
Last year's stats:
Saine: 145 attempts, 739 yards, 4.8 avg
Herron: 153, 600, 3.9
Hall: 48, 248, 5.2
There were 6 RB's in the Big 10 who rushed for more yardage, and that's just not something that you expect at OSU. You always expect to have a leading rusher. Now I do think that the running game is highly effective part because of Pryor's ability, but the ONE piece I think this team might be missing is that stud RB who will get you 100 yards every single game.
But no RB will get enough carries per game to get 100 yards consistently.
OSU was #3 in the B10 last year in rushing offense, which became dominant the last half of the season.
Let's look at the B10 returning leading rushers. All of those players had 200 carries.
Clay: 287 attempts for 1,517 yards and 18 TD's
Royster: 205 attempts for 1,169 yards and 6 TD's
Bolden: 200 attempts for 935 yards and 9 TD's
Ohio State Buckeyes rushing (correct stats, not the those above):
Saine: 145 attempts 739 yards 5.1 avd 4 TD's
Herron: 153 attempts 600 yards 3.9 avg 7 TD's
Hall: 48 attempts 248 yards 5.2 avg
Pryor: 162 attempts 779 yards 4.8 avg 7 TD's
Now, let's look at Wisconsin, Purdue, and PSU. See how many carries their back up RB's had along with their QB's.
Wisconsin: Ball (98 attempts), Brown (66 attempts), Tolzien (54 attempts mostly sacks for a whopping 8 yards)
Penn State: Green (74 attempts) and Clark (84 attempts)
Purude: Taylor (70 attempts) and Elliott (87 attempts)
So the top three rushers in the B10 have no other players on their team with over 100 attempts. Meanwhile, OSU has THREE guys with well over 100 attempts rushing with two guys pushing close to the 800 yard mark. If OSU focused all the carries on one RB, we would have the 100 ypg consistent runner, but we are deep at RB with very good talent.
I agree that Herron should look out, if Berry doesn't tweak his hammy last year before the USC game he would have got some reps and then who knows. -

Good post. Maybe it is beneficial the way OSU runs the ball, as it keeps teams off balance and makes them prepare for more than just one rusher. I guess I'm just used to Clarett, Pittman, Beanie where you had that #1 guy. And I don't think OSU loses a game because they can't run the ball. They will be successful running the ball regardless of who gets the carries.
I really am just as excited to see Hall get more carries as I am Berry. I definitely think both of these guys push Herron out of the way, but I wonder if either is good enough to cut into Saine's carries? -

I am worried about Saine's health as he seems to always be nicked up. His injuries could mean more PT for Hall and Berry.thedynasty1998;448358 wrote:Good post. devil1197Also, every time OSU had a big time rusher recently whether it be Wells or Pittman, they both got their 200+ attempts per year.

Saine will be fine.
He showed us last year how good he can be when healthy. He is our legitimate #1, don't care what anyone else says imo. He is very good dual threat RB, as he has great hands out of the back field.
Right now I would say:
1) Saine
2) Herron/Berry right behind him
3) Hall
Then the rest. I'd even start Smith with a redshirt along with Hyde unless we have mass injuries. -

I love Saine, think he is excellent. I agree, he is our starter and hes worthy of it. Thought man of steel he is not. -

Stay off my facebook page, and if you talk about my fiance again, I will make threats, and those will be clear.
LMAO you call him a stalker, yet you send him threats. Way to get your panties in a bunch over an anonymous poster you don't even know. The funny thing is you are more concerned about him than he is concerned about you. The way you cry like a baby is a joke. If you can't handle anonymous internet posters calling you out for horrible arguments, then you shouldn't be posting here. -

Cute that you want to defend your buddy, but I never sent him a threat, and this is a sports message board, so how he would ever find my job, my college, my fiance or my dog relevant to any of that is beyond me.
BTW, I have no problem with someone disagreeing with my opinion, I do have a problem with the above, not because I'm scared, but because it's just creepy.
And he's obviously more concerned with me, as evidenced by the statement above about how interested he is in my life. -
Commander of AwesomeStill waiting for the reason you posted your name on the OC fan page if you didnt want people to look at your profile and know who you are. You're just pissed I saw it and used it to pwn you in front of everyone. Now they all know youre a pathetic lying weasel living at home working a shitty job. So again, if you didnt want me to see it, why did you post it/not make your profile private? Nice Fail.

karen lotzIs Pryor wearing a brace on knee he had surgery on? I'm not sure on how invasive/serious the surgery was but could it be a mental thing he has to get over before he feels completely comfortable with it?

I did, and am. I will not respond to another one of his posts. -

I think it was pretty minor surgery and I highly doubt it's anything that affects his play physically or mentally. -
karen lotzgot ya that's what I figured but wasn't sure.
-
devil1197Minor surgery and from him talking I don't think the knee will have any affects on his play.

Big GainSaine and Herron have both been nicked at times, it is a GOOD thing we have both of them. They both have way more experience than Hall. Hall got most of his carries last year at the end of games that Ohio State had under control when the opponent's defense had been well worked over. The ONLY reason Hall got those carries is because Berry had a bad muscle pull at this time last year and decided to red-shirt. Before the muscle pull he had been "wowing" people in practices. Herron is tough for his size and was asked to do most of his running inside the tackles. For someone 5-10 200 a 3.9 average IS NOT bad. Even though Saine is 6-1 220 he is THE fastest athlete in Ohio high school history and only Sanzenbacher and Posey have better hands. Carlos Hyde is much bigger than Herron at 6' 240 and has been running over people in practices, he could end up being the short yardage back. Freshman Rod Smith hasn't even been mentioned and people compare him to Eddie George
In any event, tailback is BY FAR the deepest position on the team and I'm sure Tressel at his point doesn't worry one iota about tailbacks and who is going to get how many carries. IT JUST DOES NOT MATTER in the current big picture of things on this team. Tressel's biggest tailback concern is keeping Berry, Hyde and Smith from thinking about transferring. As those three have BY FAR the most potential and are THE most talented of the tailbacks, each having a completely different running style. -

To his credit he did not play in 3 game last year (Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota). -

That doesn't affect yards per carry. -

Right, cause he could not have improved his YPC against those defenses

j_crazyif you read lindy's you'd know that he's a SR this year, so next year would be his 5th year of eligibility. he's leaving after this year
seriously though, Lindy's has him listed as a SR on the depth chart. LOL credibility - V
