  What a joke of a show by ESPN. Over the last few years, I've grown sick of hearing about that pass interference call because the so-called experts ALWAYS take the side of Miami. Most of them absolutely refuse to acknowledge that the CORRECT call was made. Yes, Porter hesitated when throwing the flag, but pass interference or defensive holding should have been called, both of which would have resulted in the same penalty in that situation. Sharpe held Gamble off the line of scrimmage and was draped on him as the ball arrived. It's pretty simple really, and I can't understand why people (outside of Miami fans who are going to defend their team) can't accept it. Eric Kuselias, Rod Gilmore, and Mark May all repeatedly bitched about how it was the wrong call, and even though Desmond "supported" OSU, he still justified Miami losing only because they couldn't convert on 1st and Goal in OT. And to top it all off, they bring Larry Coker on the show so he can whine about the call and talk about how devastated his team was. Also, the "What-If" scenarios were ridiculous at best, as well. I guess Terry Porter cost Miami multiple national championships and the all-time win streak record, according to ESPN.
  
  What really annoys me, is that you have people like May screaming "Terry Porter messed up on the most important play of the game and cost Miami the title", but you don't hear him, or anyone else, complain about the blown calls that even allowed that game to go to OT. Gamble clearly made a catch on the sideline with less than 2 minutes remaining in regulation to give OSU a first down. Miami had no timeouts, and the game would have been over, with OSU running out the clock. Nope. The officials blew the call and called it an incomplete pass when it CLEARLY was a catch, and allowed Miami to get the ball back. Then there's also the blatant block in the back that sprung Parrish on his long return to set up the game-tying FG, but who's counting?
  
  The Buckeyes thoroughly outplayed a team of superior talent and WON the national championship, going 14-0. However, jackasses like Mark May and his buddies always try to claim that the title is somehow tainted because of that pass interference call. Guess what, Mark? OSU has the title sitting in the trophy case where it will remain forever. The Buckeyes EARNED that title every step of the way and your incessant bitching will never change that. ESPN, Larry Coker, Mark May, and Miami fans everywhere can cry me a river all day long. 31-24 Buckeyes!

  I'm glad. It gives Porter some sort of vindication, despite morons like Mark May criticizing him all the time.

  I saw this too and found it pretty interesting, especially all the coaching changes that may have happened or may not have happened had Miami won that game.
  
  When people complain about the call it seems like most people complain more about how long it took the ref to get the flag out rather than the call itself. I agree that it seemed to take him forever to get the flag out, but it was still the right call. And the important thing to remember is that that call wasn't the end of the game. OSU still had to score a touchdown, then go and score again, then stop Miami. In no way did that call give the game to Ohio State. It gave them a second chance and Miami still had plenty of opportunities to beat the Buckeyes and didn't.

  Except the ball was in the air while he was being held, which is what makes it pass interference. That's why Porter first signaled holding, then changed it to PI when communicating the called to the head referee.

  The only thing Fouts didn't do during that game was break out Miami pom-poms and sing their fight song on air. You'd have thought Kellen Winslow Jr. was his son, not a former San Diego teammate's.

  I understand what you are saying. But I think every game ever played could have the outcome changed if you went back and reviewed every call or non-call.

  Probably not every game, but many. That said, do we only play the "what if" game with the last questionable call (or no-call)? Who made that rule (answer: both Miami fans in the entire world and all of the tOSU haters )
  
  Bottom line, if one watches that game with as unbiased an eye as possible, the more deserving team won the game.

  I question ESPN's motives for doing this show. As pointed out above it was eight freaking years ago. Why don't they do a show about the questionable call last year in the Nebraska-Texas B12 Championship Game? Why single out this game? I understand the teams will match up again this year and ESPN is already building up the hype, but the fact is May and company have been talking about this for the past eight years.
  
  I also agree with the pos that one can nit-pick calls in a lot of games and claim the outcome would have been different. As the old saying goes "If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle".

  I don't really recall any controversial calls at the end of regulation. I'd have to see the replays.

  I don't think they'd do NE/TX from last year because we don't know what the domino affects are yet. Nebraska doesn't leave for the Big 10? Tebow possibly gets a 2nd chance at Bama in the title game? Cincinnati gets to play Bama in the Nat'l Title Game?? You do a game from 8 years ago and you can kind of play around with what could have happened afterwards.
