Years ago I used to actually pull for scUM against non-conference opponents because I mistakenly believed it helped the stature of the Big 10. But it's idiots like Web and Ihslep that can't decipher irrefutable evidence that now make me want to continue seeing scUM get kicked in the balls every game they play. We will be seeing alot of this replay prior to TOSU vs "U" game in Sept. and the outcome will remain the same...NATTY CHAMPS assholes....NATTY CHAMPS!
Like I give a shit what you think. Did you even bother reading any of the thread? If it was Miami against USC I'd be arguing the same thing. It's a football discussion. Some people are able to do so regardless of what team they root for. Oh I forgot. Only OSU fans can have an opinion on the subject. -

Sorry I find this logic dumb, "I saw it in a high school game so they should've called it in a college game". It was either a college rule or it wasn't and the high school game/rule doesn't have anything to do with it. Are you pissed when a college team has enough time to come back and win because they get three extra minutes per quarter?Sonofanump;427745 wrote:There is over two hundred differences between the two sets of rules. Right, but evidently neither one of you read my post, so I'll post it again.Jughead;427241 wrote:The most obvious call that turned into a non-call ever in the history of the game. I remember seeing this rule being implemented (Aiding the Runner was the call) during one of Amanda Clearcreek's state final appearances (cost them a state title) and being absolutely furious when it was not called in that USC/Notre Dame game. Either lose the damn rule, or enforce it at all levels. You can't have it both ways. To be honest, I'd be happy with the abolishment of this rule.
The rule in the situation above is identical at both college and high school levels, yet it was called in one game and not in another. In both cases, the Running back helped shove the QB into the endzone at the end of the game. It was called the way it's written in the rule book at a high school game, yet those refs at the college level allow USC to steal a game by not calling it.
By the way, I'm not the one that brought up the other What if? questions. I just felt that I needed to add my input, albeit not on the specific game this thread was originally about. -
centralbucksfanThis thread is a broken record and a joke. Anyone who thinks the U got screwed, its obviously bias against OSU. Maybe "they play" was pass interference, but it was certainly HOLDING without question. The replay showed this as plain as day. No matter how you want to twist it, it was a penalty. Other pictures and replays showed so many missed calls it wasn't even funny.
Game over, OSU won the game fair and square. Period. -

So the entire rest of the country is just biased against OSU? -

I'm not too big on the "everyone is biased against Ohio State" stuff, but in this particular case, the rest of the country is pretty much wrong. Gamble was held TWICE during the play, and I think defensive holding probably would have been called had the officials not decided that the ball was already in the air at the time of the infraction. As has been covered multiple times in this thread, it doesn't matter anyway. Either penalty would have had the same result. There is absolutely no denying that Sharpe held Gamble during the play...it's plain as day. The contact as the ball arrived isn't as clear cut, and had that been the only thing that occurred on the play, then Miami would probably have something to complain about. However, Sharpe impeded Gamble's progress while the ball was in flight, which means that PI technically occurred.enigmaax;428381 wrote:So the entire rest of the country is just biased against OSU?
Even people across the country, who disregard everything I just typed because they don't think it looks like PI, still cannot deny that the game should never have reached that point. Gamble's "catch" in regulation essentially ended the game, had it been called correctly. Not to mention the fact that if they call the block in the back on Hawk during the punt return, Miami never gets a chance to kick the game-tying FG either. If the 65% (or whatever it is) of people around the nation want to complain about a missed call that had a mjor effect on the game, they should be complaining about those. Obviously OSU fans are going to say that the correct call was made, but the fact that they are OSU fans should not diminish the FACTS either. The correct call was made and the Buckeyes won the title. -

I'm completely open to other possibilites as to why so many people still claim it was a bad call when said claim is laughable. -

No, I'd say 99.9 percent of those who voted don't have a clue to any of the stuff being discussed here. All they remember is that fat ass loudmouth yelling, "Bad Call! Bad Call!" at the end of the play, and then refusing to acknowledge that it was the correct call when he saw it on replay. -

Notre Dame has won 3 national titles in the last 37 years. Now granted, the most recent of those was 22 years ago but my point is that you're wrong.
Maybe you should try knowing WTF you're talking about before spouting off. -

If you notice, I said recent history. Yes I know ND won in the 80s, and I said 70 years ago, but it was an exaggeration. Nobody still talks about what happened in the 80s. Although, there was a What If piece a couple days ago about the Miami-ND game. And how there was a fumble called on Miami after the ball crossed the goal line, which led ND to win, and go on and win a championship. Talk about tainted championships. -
