  THIS is the (non) call that should have ended the game if called correctly. Under NCAA rules now, the play would have been reviewed, OSU would have been awarded a first down and OT never happens. OSU wins.

  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they did instant replay back in 02. If they had, that play would have been overturned...and Bucks are in kneel down formation.
  
  Secondly, did the refs not see holding twice on that pass play? Defensive holding ==automatic first down. Anyone complaining about the PI in the end zone needs to look at this play and then STFU.

  The call was made. The official is the final arbiter. He waited, yes. Did he wait because he wasn't sure? I don't think so. He waited because he wanted to be absolutely sure. It's sort of like the the baseball tag play at the plate. The guy comes crashing into the catcher, they roll around in the dirt, the umpire is watching, watching, and yells "show me the ball, show me the ball" If the catcher shows him the ball and has control, the ump has an out. The play takes time. Was the Miami defender impeding the Buckeye receiver from catching the ball?According to the official who was right there the whole way, yes he was. If I'm a Miami fan, I'm at the very least disappointed and probably angry about the call. Obviously it was a call that was close enough to go either way. I think as I look at the replay, the Ohio State receiver was impeded and the call was correct but the other thing about this is, who cares now? What ifs aren't recorded in the official result. Ohio State 31 Miami 24 will always be the final result and we need to get ready for the upcoming season. Dwellng on the past does no one any good and will not change a single thing.

  Little Danny, this was part of a series of "What if" plays that ESPN College Football Live is doing this summer. They are not just looking at this one call. They will be looking at other plays (not just penalty calls) and be asking "what if the play had gone the other direction." For instance, what if Matt Leinart didn't get the ball across the goal line against Notre Dame in 2005? Or what if Clint Stoerner hadn't fumbled against Tennessee in 1998? It wasn't like this was an isolated scenario that they chose to single out 8 years after the fact, it's part of a series they are doing looking at important plays in big games. They are doing it because it's fun to look back several years after something happens and wonder how the landscape of college football would be different today if the outcome of one single play were different.
  
  With this they explained that had Miami won they would have carried their win streak into the next year and played Oklahoma in the title game, leaving LSU out, and since LSU didn't win the title in 2003 Saban doesn't jump to the NFL then, which had a trickle down effect which led to Les Miles ending up at Michigan, Saban eventually ending up in the NFL, Bobby Petrino ending up at LSU, and Rich Rodriguez ending up at Alabama. Obviously we have no idea if any of this would have happened, but it's fun to look back and speculate about how things could have been different if one play went the other way. This segment really wasn't about whether or not the right call was made, but rather how things could have been different is Porter hadn't thrown the flag.

  The most obvious call that turned into a non-call ever in the history of the game. I remember seeing this rule being implemented (Aiding the Runner was the call) during one of Amanda Clearcreek's state final appearances (cost them a state title) and being absolutely furious when it was not called in that USC/Notre Dame game. Either lose the damn rule, or enforce it at all levels. You can't have it both ways. To be honest, I'd be happy with the abolishment of this rule.

  Watch the video and you will see that the picture is deceiving. At the moment this photo was snapped, Gamble was changing direction from his pattern's hook to adjust to the ball thrown with a bit too much lead.
  
  Like I said earlier, it doesn't matter, OSU was national champs. And good arguments are made for the regulation calls/no calls. But at least argue and/or show evidence that proves something.

  There are several minor rule differences between high school and college. Sorry I find this logic dumb, "I saw it in a high school game so they should've called it in a college game". It was either a college rule or it wasn't and the high school game/rule doesn't have anything to do with it. Are you pissed when a college team has enough time to come back and win because they get three extra minutes per quarter?

  Watched it again last night on BTN, stayed up til 3 for the whole game.
  
  After watching the play probably 15 times, I can reasonably say that I don't see pass interference on the play.
  
  However, Chris Gamble's left shoulder area towards the neckline was definitely held down by Sharp around 4 yards downfield and that is the defensive holding that should have been called, not PI.
  
  It's irrelevant because as someone said, both penalties would have been first and goal at the 2.
  
  
  I also CANNOT believe they missed AJ Hawk getting clipped on Parrish's punt return it was literally right next to the play.

Years ago I used to actually pull for scUM against non-conference opponents because I mistakenly believed it helped the stature of the Big 10. But it's idiots like Web and Ihslep that can't decipher irrefutable evidence that now make me want to continue seeing scUM get kicked in the balls every game they play.   There isn't one person I have met outside the state of Ohio that believes the right call was made. I always defend OSU, especially because the game should have ended in regulation with gamble's no catch that was actually caught. But yeah, this isn't something people think just because of ESPN lol, it is all over the place from people that have nothing against OSU, like Clemson fans, and Virginia Tech fans--people that HATE miami.

  Maybe if you actually read my fucking post, you'd see that I noted I definitely see a penalty. But from the actual game angle you can't see pass interference you can only see the one angle. From the back side angle it's pass interference but that's not the angle the game was shown from, nor the angle that the broadcasters had.
