Orrville loses to Senior in a great game to watch. Tied at half then Senior pulled away with relentless pressure and quickness. Good game to prepare us for pressure. We won't see many teams press us and run up and down as well as Senior. Senior seemed to be 8-10 deep. Our down falls were missed foul shots and being out rebounded 31-18 in the 1st half. We'll need to block out better. A good early season test.

Smihville loses tonite to Hillsdale so it should be a game next Sat. where both teams are hungry.

A lot of this game was played above the rim.

Senior has 3 seniors and 8 juniors on the roster so they should be decent next year. They are not unbeatable. I like the way were subing and the type of defense were playing. I can't believe I'm saying this, but a little more zone would have helped tonite in the first half because Senior isn't a great shooting team from outside. Its just that they get so many more shots by rebounding. We needed to stop the penetration up the center for the ten foot jumper.

Definately, congrats to Sam. Good kid and a great athlete.

And congrats to YOU for winning the 50/50 and donating 1/2 back to the Booster club!

Thanks....great story behind it. I had the ticket purhased for me by someone who appreciated the work I did on the blog. And it wins. What are the odds?

We looked good and bad last night....like Sly said in the paper, we need a 3rd scorer...and from what I saw, guys like Groves, Max and Joey need to average at least 25 ppg between them ideally.

I think Groves had 10, Joey had 5-7 and Max only had 2.

Senior hit a ton of shots that had no business going in...but they were the better team.

Oh, and their student section, however classless at times, ran circles around our student section. That as a noisy group of 20 kids. Two games at our gym, and twice our students look meek and lifeless.

I agree RR1 our student section isn't organized, but its early in the season and I think after some more practice we should get better as the season goes on. LOL Even the cheerleaders weren't tumbling as much as last year. Do you think the ADmin. has stopped that dangerous tumbling thing?

Can you believe Seniors cheering section? They took the twenty smartest and nerdiest kids at Senior and put them on the cheering squad. They probably recruited them from surrounding schools to get the best team. We may have to go to our academic challenge team to come up with some help for our student section.
  • RedRider1
All I know is they were loud, organized and put our student section to shame. Some stuff was classless....but games are more interesting when there's a vocal visiting section.

I did notice a certain disparity between the Senior players and their student section. I guess tose who can do, and those who cant sit in the cheering section.

The Smithville game should be another good crowd. Our kids are getting a taste of tournament atmospheres very early on.
  • Flash
Yea , no ethnic diversity on either team. May have to institute busing for the cheering section.
  • Mr. Russell
Our Smithville crowds have not been as good this year, very disappointing. It's sad when people become spoiled after a few seasons of success. Hopefully we can give you guys a game without Drew! I am sure you will be ready to go.

^^Talked to a Smithie last night...sounds like they're a little down on themselves. I don't know why, sounds like a solid club. Missing Frizell will hurt.

Should be a good game over at the College this Saturday night.

Number 24 for senior (forget his name) was 0-8 in the first half,in the second half 8-9 or 9-10 something like that, vary quick thats something we'll be looking at the second time around keeping up with speed.

The same kid hit the winning three at Lima Senior on Sat. to win it for Mansfield Senior.

If you want our student section to be loud and proud you don't have to bus kids in you have to Bus our AD ( aka the no fun police) out. Also much cheaper.lol.

    Good Luck Riders.

Posted some blog site statistic analysis ....been a year since i started tracking site stats. Almost 10,000 unique visitors have visited the site in the past year. 17,000+ site visits altogether.

Thanks for my freehuddlers who are a part of that group. Means the world to me.

Nice rr1.. keep up the good work.!

Riders @ West Holmes tomorrow, then the Smithville game on Saturday night.

    Congrats RR1!!!

I think it's a shame the way our kids are discouraged from making any noise. There are so many rules for when they are and aren't allowed to make noise (can't make any noise when the other team is shooting foul shots etc...) ridiculous! When I was a player our coaches always told us that it's your job to block out all of the noise. When I was in school (90's) we had an amazing student section. Kids dressed up, were very vocal (not disrespectful) etc... It's no fun for them anymore.

West holmes is in the rebuilding years and should be good 2 or 3 years from now, but are strugling getting something going. For the riders this should be a good game to get the rest of the team some play time.
  • rrfan
no updates yet? What is going on over here?
  • Flash
rrfan, I was hoping you were posting the score. I didn't go. Maybe Pitman can tell us?
  • WCLfan
    Orrville - 54
    West Holmes - 20
  • Flash
Thanks WCL, knew it wouldn't be close, but was still interested in the outcome. WH has some players coming up in the younger grades (8th). But it takes putting it all together to be a winner.
  • RedRider1
ZERO 4th qtr points for WH...impressvie D Riders!!

Should be no problem getting up for tonight. School only got 150 presale tix, and they sold them all. Hope for a good crowd.
  • BRF
I would think that only scoring 20 for the game and 0 in the 4th (commonly known as "slop time") would be cause for great concern for the Knights.
  • BRF
Oh, btw, we gave the Smithies a spanking tonight.

We just toyed with them, imo, of course.

    52-40.

Shoulda been more like 85-45, though.

    ha ha
