Why are people saying that they made a mistake, looking at the definition of the word, the activity does not coincide.
I think that they had "intent" to do what they did! There was no mistake in that, "Uhhh, I meant to do the right thing but I "mistakenly" drank that drink, smoked that smoke, etc, etc.). -

It was uphill....but to blame those curcumstances is a little easy, no?5knots wrote: Yeah! how could I forget that addition to the equation! Talk about uphill battle. Anyway, on the court/playing field stuff is great....coaching staffs are great....community support is great....kids being held accountable for their actions...I think is suspect..but in all fairness in those situations I am on the outside looking in...and not complaining too much about that! I guess I just have to have faith in those in charge.
With a few good post-seasons all that goes away, and he's the one standing where Sly is now. Big games didn't go his way and other issues just got to the point where it became difficult for him to just be a coach....to the detriment of the program. -
RedRider1Oh goodness...not Merriam-Webster's dictionary again.
For the record, it ceases being a mistake after the 2nd incident in less than a year. Now it's a poor choice. -

I forgot about that, I'm pretty sure I could find out on your blog.RedRider1 wrote: We were Div 4 in football last year and this year....just changed regions in football.
But you knew that right?
I've been reading the posts here every other 2 days or so.
After the win against Newton Falls I heard someone say they spoke to Jake and some of the other team members about leaving that "stuff" alone and remain focused on the task at hand because he knew what they "did".
grt8fan made a similar comment right before the pre-football incident.
It's funny indeed that you have so much to say, but when a negative incident happens, you're suddenly quiet! You! rr1, who always has the pulse of the Red Riders ready to be displayed. Will you you post all of these significant activities by this group of Red Riders on your blog, are you working on the stats, how about predictions on who will get what discipline??? -

Shouldn't break the rules to keep a guy playing sports! Punish him just as if he was a guy on the bench with little to no playing time!5knots wrote: Our rules are very similar to other communities...it's where we got them. But hey! We are Orrville! We are the Orrville Red Riders! We don't consider ourselves "just like other communities". Let's raise our standard, raise the bar a bit. We are Orrville! A community that cares and supports. No better way to show a kid you care. Rigid rules, caring to go along with it. Sounds like a recipe for success! -
5knotsI am not implying that any one in charge has done anything like that. I think our rules are too lenient. 1st offense you sit out 10% of contests, 2nd offense you miss 50% of contests, 3rd offense your done. I vote for: 1st offense your done for a year, 2nd offense your done for good.

When you, I or anybody takes their first drink, smokes their first smoke, it was done with intent! And if what you say is true, why were so many people saying they made a mistake when it was not their first time prior to football. -
imjustmeThe kids involved have been doing "this" for YEARS...

Where were you in August when all this malfeasance was going down!? -
5knotsmy point exactly....and every little kid that roots for them knows this and will emulate them just as these kids watched those before them do this and on and on and on it goes and then somebody wrecks a car and kids get hurt and/or die and we all will Gasp! and say how did this happen?
-
5knotsI was in the Administrations ear saying exactly what I am saying now! Got some movement, but not enough.

Were they escaping justice because they had a ball in their hands?imjustme wrote: The kids involved have been doing "this" for YEARS...
Better nip that junk! If they don't, be very, very watchful and careful come prom night! It seems when I moved to Orrville, for several years consecutively, a life was lost on prom night due to these activities.
This, I do not joke about! -
Series62Hey 5knots, we must have been typing almost simultaneously! Get out of my mind! LOL!
-
5knotsI was at prom night 3-4 years ago and stopped someone from getting on the after prom bus for trying to bring a thermos of "screwdrivers". Informed those on charge. This individual missed all of 1 or 2 track meets. End of story. That is when I began my quest. One of many, I might add....don't get me going on our grading scale!
-
rider805Knots; Thank you for getting in the ADM ear. With a levy coming up mabe this will get a little more attention. 1 and done for the year is what i would support as well. I think some OCC schools have that policy. I hope you are working the after prom this year?
-
RedRider15knots,
and then ran at the state meet didn't SHE? Good to know it's a problem..period...not just a football/basketball problem.
5knots has been on this bandwagon for a long time...including the incident over the summer. -
RedRider15knots,
what are your thoughts on school food....chicken patties specifically.
-
RedRider1Regarding the levy...I guess the Super was tearing down the red/white ribbons from telephone poles last night...by himself. Told a co-worker who was passing by that he got a call from a citizen that it was an eyesore....said he doesn't need anyone upset with him right now.
I imagine this week's events arent helping. -
5knotsYeah...I'm always making new friends! haha
-
rrfanMan there is a lot to read today. I also think it is odd that some only post when there is trouble.
Any way don't you think the administration has done what they are able to as far as dicipline in these incidents? The problem is the policy needs changed. I don't have the answers but these kids are getting cought a lot which leads me to believe it is happening far more than anybody thought.
I agree with you guys...this is not a mistake. These kids knew what they were doing and have sice they started.
This is the worst thing that could happen for the Super. Who is trying to get a needed levy past. These kids have put that right up in the ar now too. -
5knotsI support our Super. he does a good job. He has to walk that fine line whereas I can just step right over it. there is a difference. don't get me going on the lunches RR1! My kids pack!
-
5knotsBest investment you can make right now is that levy. Period. I'll argue that point with anyone! and Have! Of all the things we spend on...we get the most bang for our buck right there.
-
RedRider15knots,
of course they pack...Of all people that should know that.....duh.
Levy passing would be a minor miracle.....but I think in large part, the community sees the progress and the smart fiscal decisions being made. -
RedRider1series,
about talking about this issue on my blog.....i didn't talk about the last one, and i wont talk about this one...too many unknowns, and it's just not my bag.
It's a funny thing, when your name is all over the site, you take some extra time to decide what is and isn't deserving of print. I'll stick to focusing on the positive, it's done well for me so far. -

History and true events aren't always positive.RedRider1 wrote: .....i didn't talk about the last one, and i wont talk about this one...too many unknowns, and it's just not my bag.....
The subjects of these discussions are however Red Riders aren't they?
And I'm sure with your "sources", you can make the unknowns known.
I understand that, "it's not "your" bag", it must be "killing" you that after so much rah, rah, rah, and "restoration of community pride" that those involved could do this to you.
