Orrville Basketball

RedRider1Because I've had my say (said we needed new leadership and we got it)....no need to rehash it.
My differences were in basketball philosophies (I've said this since day 1)...not in all this personal garbage going on now. -
Series62Seems the personal garbage is part and parcel of the change, that along with the continuous degradation such as that of Ionab. But if pursuit of change is what you were after, and you have it, then you should remain mute on the entirety of the subject.

Who said anything about an accusation? As for your comment about suffocating defense, I like it! Well said. I like what Coach Sly is doing on the defensive end as well and his use of the bench.Series62 wrote:
The following statement is indicative of what Coach Short was attempting to prepare them for as is Coach Slaughter as did Coach Smith.ionab wrote:
That article is a joke. Short is a joke. Only a racist would have his players practice in a blacks vs whites scrimmage. He lost his coaching job because his basketball skills weren't good enough. Period!Series62 wrote: Speaking of the Daily Record, did anyone read today's issue! I remember someone told me that something to that effect was written on jjhuddle by brf, but it had been removed before I could read it!
Comparatively, his record was not much different from Smith's in the same span of time.

It's clear what Coach Sly is doing...defense comes first. On nights when your shots aren't falling, you can still play suffocating defense."
Joke or not, did Hostetler make the accusation on jjhuddle?
Did it turn out to be true? It's been +9 months.
You didn't speak on that part of the joke! -
RedRider1^^That was a post I made....series62 is still getting used to the "quote" feature.
Dont know what it has to do with anything.....but that's a whole different discussion. -
RedRider1
And I have been...please visit the archives of my blog and feel free to link to any mention of Donald Short after his resignation.Series62 wrote: Seems the personal garbage is part and parcel of the change, that along with the continuous degradation such as that of Ionab. You wont find any. -
riderbbWow, both sides get to air their dirty laundry, and the eventual winner will be "THE LAWYERS"

lvhoopsIn the awards banquet Mr Short told all the players, coaches and parents "I am resigning as basketball coach of Orrville" .Now in the paper I read he said it was a constructive discharge....So which one was it ?the "tearful" one where he looked people in the eye and said I am resigning? Or the one which he said in the paper .I was discharged. Please.... Just stop the lying and go away...

"In employment law, constructive dismissal, also called constructive discharge, occurs when employees resign because their employer's behaviour has become so heinous or made life so difficult that they may consider themselves to have been fired."
Coach Short had a positive W-L record, why so much hate towards him?
Noone seems to have anything to say regarding the "accusation" levied against him or the person that made the accusation on jjhuddle.
Why not? -
RedRider1If that or any accusation was untrue, then it should be dealt with....and from my knowledge it was. I believe the person accused was suspended. So as far as the school was concerned, the matter was handled...and seemingly very promptly if memory serves.
It'll be a circus now...probably see a news camera. They'll always jump at the chance to let 1 person tell their side of the story. -

A positive W-L record isn't always what it's about. Why are there so many kids playing for Coach Sly, that refused to play for Short? Integrity, Morals, Ethics, Good Character. Believe it or not, we here in Orrville believe in these things and we teach them to our children. Coach Short resigned because he knew it was the right thing to do, for once.Series62 wrote:

I said thus, "The following statement is indicative of what Coach Short was attempting to prepare them for as is Coach Slaughter as did Coach Smith.", based on the following comments by brf and rr1 respectively,
brf - "...(and I'm talking about US giving a team with the demographics of East, FITS!)..."
rr1 - "Very interesting. I get what you're saying. It's one thing to lock down a team with not much athleticism, but it's another to hold your own against a team that is athletic and fast.

"Who said anything about an accusation? As for your comment about suffocating defense, I like it! Well said. I like what Coach Sly is doing on the defensive end as well and his use of the bench."
Insofar as the false "accusation" comment, that is primarily what the article in the paper is based. -

Seems to me that some of those that did and didn't play for Coach Short was arrested and suspended for use of alcohol, etc. That was before and after he left.ionab wrote:

Where was the Integrity, Morals, Ethics, Good Character and who was their teacher "here in Orrville" when those things happened? -
RedRider1bigp,
you could at least use your old name from JJHuddle.
At least I now know not to take your words seriously. -
gobrownsmr. hostetler may have been suspended, but he shouldn't have been. he did nothing wrong, period. the school administration picked the wrong person to suspend & look what it got them. a lawsuit.

Well said GOBROWNS. Of course, BRF has handled himself with class, as usual. Seems to me, he should be the one filing the lawsuit.gobrowns wrote: mr. hostetler may have been suspended, but he shouldn't have been. he did nothing wrong, period. the school administration picked the wrong person to suspend & look what it got them. a lawsuit. -
RiderHoopsCan we get this CRAP off the Orrville Basketball thread? If certain people want to discuss the lawsuit and the people in it than start a NEW thread. These conversations have nothing to do with Orrville Basketball. Get your own thread Series62 if you want to talk about this garbage.
-
THE4RINGZThere is already a thread dedicated to this topic. However the subject came up here first. Maybe others are not aware of another place to discuss this. And today's events are directly related to Orrville Basketball.
-
me_myself_iWhere is that thread? like to read that one as well
-
THE4RINGZSearch serious business it's on there somewhere I read it this afternoon but it is more BS so take it with a grain of salt.

Old RiderRR1...better to just let it rest with series62, aka bigP. Not worth your breath. He suddenly jumps back on the huddle to see what we have been discussing when this news hit the paper...and forum discussion. Seems as if he wants no more than to come on here and defend his friend, when he has nothing to defend. This thread is about ORRVILLE BASKETBALL, not Mr. Short and he is no longer affiliated with the program other than being a father of a son in the program....so Series62....if its not about this CURRENT program and you have nothing positive to say...do us a favor and ZIP IT!!!!!
