My guess on the top 4 seeds would beFlash;1076548 wrote:Who are the big competitors for Dalton in their district?
1. VASJ 7-7 (#17 Plain dealer top 25 all divisions)
2. Richmond Hts 12-1 (#11 Plain dealer top 25 all divisions)
3. Dalton 14-2
4. Cuyahoga Hts. 11-4
Cornerstone Christian 14-2 and Kidron Central at 7-7 would be the only other teams with more than 3 wins, but neither of them will be a factor against the top 4. Lutheran East a usual top team is 2-12 and having a down year. The other teams include Rittman and Mapleton.
I would assume with that top 4 seeding, Dalton would get Richmond Hts in the district semifinal and if they win then VASJ in the District final. So an easy sectional game and then 2 huge obstacles in their way. -
1486wdunfortunately, Dalton will have to play out of their minds to have any chance of getting out of this district. Pretty ridiculous someone like VASJ is in D4. Sure would be fun to be back in that wooster district. Many great rivalries there.

kurty66I wonder what Hillsdale's home loss to Dalton does to their seeding? I had them at #1 with a win, but now Norwayne and Hillsdale are likely playing for second place in the conference next week. Loudonville will win their conference, but had early losses to Hillsdale and Norwayne so I can't see them at #1. I don't think Wellington has the quality wins and not being in the county won't help. I think Orrville deserves a seed, but their record will hurt them even with the tough schedule. I'm still hoping for Norwayne/Orrville final.

thePITmanCaught up as much as I could this afternoon.
Please let me know of any scores/updates for these games I'm missing:

thePITmanMy web site is caught up! All DIII Wooster and DII Canton district teams are up-to-date, just missing a few other league members' games.
Tomorrow (Feb 12) is the seeding. As soon as anyone has the seeds and bracket/match-ups, please post them. I will do the same. Thanks!

thePITmanI'm in the house for today's seeding, so I should have the seeds, bracket, match-ups, etc. pretty shortly afterward. NE Board members are doing their welcome speeches, then each district will break off to do their respective seedings.
I'm next to the DII Canton area, but after it's over I'll go over to the DIII Wooster projector and try to get everything noted down. -

I'd have Orrville higher, but that looks reasonable. I wish Dalton could be in this as well.Old Rider;1083727 wrote:1. Norwayne

dontcareNorwayne got the 1 seed and West didn't take a bye?
-
thePITman
Many teams don't like taking the bye. It's likely their first game will be against a bottom 2 or 3 team, anyway. I know we used to take the game instead of the bye. In DII Canton, both #1 Alliance and #2 SVSM took a game instead of a bye.dontcare;1083918 wrote:Norwayne got the 1 seed and West didn't take a bye? -

I'm not sure how good Wellington and Keystone are, but Norwayne avoided Orrville, Hillsdale and Loudonville until the final if they are lucky enough to get that far.thePITman;1083921 wrote:Many teams don't like taking the bye. By the way, thanks for the all of the work Pit! What do you think of the Wooster bracket? -

With all the work just to get my site completed, I haven't had a chance to really LOOK at the brackets yet. Let's see...! (thanks for reminding me to still do the FUN part)kurty66;1083980 wrote:By the way, thanks for the all of the work Pit! What do you think of the Wooster bracket?
I think Elyria Catholic is a sleeper at the 9 seed. If they can get by Oberlin, who by the way only lost to Wellington by 5, Wellington could be on upset alert against EC. However, I and many others were surprised and impressed with Wellington in last year's tournament.
Norwayne beat Northwestern by 22 and then by 8 at home. If any coach can make a 3rd time's the charm, it's Alberts at Northwestern. However, some are saying not to sleep on #5 seed Keystone, and by the looks of their schedule/results, I'd agree. However, I don't expect Norwayne to trip up until at least the semi.
I expect Hillsdale to make it to the semi, too, but two single-digit wins against Smithville tell me they're not as far ahead as they might think. But I can't see the Falcons being upset here. (don't know much about Clearview, but lots of bad losses or losses to bad teams)
Waynedale's the biggest wild-card, IMO. They have a few big wins, a few really bad losses, and a few "moral victory" losses to good teams. With their sectional only having Loudonville, Orrville, and Chippewa, it wouldn't surprise me if they can win 2 games with Riebe... but I've heard all season from multiple sources that Loudonville is a GOOD team. They could have problems with Orrville's athleticism, though. Who knows. That's a really wide-open sectional, IMO. I would not be surprised one bit if Loudonville or Orrville takes this district.
The last few years RedRider1 and I have done our picks of each game in the district, with predicted scores and commentary... Stay tuned, if he plans to do it again. -
Old RiderI think Wellington and Oberlin are the teams to watch. Wellington brings back an experienced team and Oberlin will be athletic.

Plus, I think Keystone beat Wellington. I just haven't seen the Lorain Co. teams to be able to compare them to the WCAL and Orrville. It's interesting that next weekend Norwayne has Hillsdale at home and Wellington away. The Norwayne/Hillsdale game is for WCAL 2nd place most likely, but the Wellington game could be a semi-final tourny preview if they both get that far.Old Rider;1084055 wrote:I think Wellington and Oberlin are the teams to watch. I'm still picking Norwayne and Orrville. I think they're the teams to watch for the Lorain folks. -
bobcats2012I think Norwayne picked there spot first, so I think Orrville, Hillsdale, and Loudonville pick the lower bracket.

You take a bye and you dont play until March 8.....thats a long time to be off with out a game...I think Coach West made the right choice......get playing as soon as possible and not take a long lay off...dontcare;1083918 wrote:Norwayne got the 1 seed and West didn't take a bye? -
riders1Last year's district champ, Orrville comes in with the same record as last season 7-13 and opens as they did last years tourney with Chippewa. 7 teams ended this regular season with winning records and 5 of those are in the 7 team upper bracket with only Hillsdale and Loudonville with winning records in the lower bracket. It looks to be a very exciting district once again.
-
RedRider1If my records are right...Orrville has not lost a game at the new WHS since the district moved there in 1995.
From 96 through 2009, we were D-2, and since dropping back to D-3, have won 2 straight districts.
