    Another good one:
Points in the Paint: Orrville 30 - Tuslaw 8

    thanks pit!

I think this is pretty funny and pretty much sums up our season....we were 1-5 from downtown and the guy to make that 3 was Wasson...lol
  • thePITman
Another stat... just noticed this. Haha! Although Orrville only won by 6, they made 13 more field goals than Tuslaw! Wow. It's obviously because of Tuslaw's 3-pointers and free throws, but an interesting stat nonetheless.

Also another interesting fact.....we only scored 60 or more points 4 times in the regular season, and in both tourney games we have been at or above the 60 point mark. That's always a good sign when you start scoring more points.

Mainly due to the competition, probably. :) Chippewa and Tuslaw aren't exactly good basketball teams. Haha!

We made 26 , 2 pt baskets, Tuslaw made 6, 2 pt baskets ! Orrville 11 foul shot's made to Tuslaw's 24 made , 1 3pt basket to 8 3 pt baskets, 48 of 60 points on ft or 3's to our 14 pts on ft and 3's, and miss all 3 of our 1 and 1's, so it's 60 of 66 points basically uncontested to 14 of 66 for us, but no way can we throw up more 3's and hope, but we sure could help ourselves with FREE throws. Just practice them and concentrate arghhhh.

Good point. Monday may be our swan song unless we buckle down and play good. I'm actually rooting for Triway as the underdog. Didn't think I'd be cheering the purple any time soon. Triway has a better chance than us in that I think Northwestern is vulnerable to a zone defense that keys on Mc Kean.

Riders1, we can't defend the three. WE don't make foul shots and foul too, much. Especially when we don't need to.
  • OQB
Lol, my point exactly pitman....we will have our hands full against Hillsdale.

I have just given up on Orrville and our free throw shooting.....we lack the mental capacity to concentrate and make an easy uncontested shot. They really aren't that hard. I have no basketball skills whatsoever, but I went to the state level in the free throw shooting competition when I was in 6th grade, and could make 9/10 if I went to the gym right now.

    Very Frustrating!

    OQB, 9 of 10 , LOL

flash - I think you are right on northwesterns vulnerability and triway's chance to exploit it. Everyone knows they are very average when you get past mckean (therein lies the problem as noone has been able to do that). For anyone that has played the huskies, you also know that the key lies in how the game is called. Mckean is one of the most skilled guys at drawing a foul that I have ever seen. Most officials give him those calls, but if you get a game that is allowed to be played very rough, with few fouls called, NW can be beaten easily. When mckean gets to the line, he just doesn't miss. the other guys aren't going to beat you. Looks like a good district sem next week with the falcons and riders.

will triway throw the kitchen sink at mckean or will they allow him his points and stop everyone else? Just remember they scored 70 plus on northwestern in first meeting. The strategies used during tournament time are quite interesting to watch and follow. Watching Orrville last night where now turner is a very big part of their plan where landis was just a couple of weeks ago. amazing how things can change.

Box and one? I'd like a 1-3-1 with us if we get that far. Tall player out front (Brenner, Pirman, Neer) to prevent the easy 3 and three across the middle to stop the drive. You can't reach and have to hold your ground on the drive and take the charge. I still think no ones tried stop Mc Kean at all costs without fouling and see what damage the others can do.

Keep in mind when we beat Northwestern in the first game of the season, McKean had 31 points, and we still won by 8, and that was with the rest of their team going 7-15 from 3's (Brennan was 1-7). Like someone said, offensively, they have McKean then a group of normal kids. But on defense I think they may be suspect. If someone can devise a good game plan against them and execute against a well-coached Northwestern team, it may not matter how the Huskies do offensively. Granted, though, it's easier said than done. :) Here's hoping we can do it tonight.

McKean can't score if he doesn't get the ball. Four Corners tournament style?

    Get your popcorn ready.

i still believe the key is how its called. In the first matchup with Dalton, they let them play and if my memory serves mckean had 15 points or so and a dalton win. In the second game, he got to the line about 20 times and the huskies pulled it out. Dalton played similar defense both games.

Let's not forget that ridiculous night MCKean had at Bobby Knight Gymnasium....26 for 26 at the line with 48 points! We barely touch his jersey and they call a foul. Officials could really hurt or really help the Titans.

Should be a great game, pulling for the Titans in this one.

Congrats to the Girls for that Major Win today!

Great job girls in a game that sometime seemed 8 on 5, but they overcame the Panthers and zebras!

Orrville girls play Wed. at 8:00 in Cuyahoga Falls Regional against Ursuline 14-7 or South Range 17-6

Both sides had PLENTY to argue about. It was like 8 on 8. LoL! But in a game as big as that, every call seems big. Which they were. It wasn't just against Orrville, though.

Depends where you were sitting :), by the way what's with the Tuslaw blue shirt last night, didn't look very neutral, lol

In the first half I spent time sitting on Orrville's side. In the 2nd half I spent time sitting on Manchester's side. I got to chat with good ol' Wildy83, bison (from JJ; gamblingfool on Yappi), Snowbarger Sr., and a few other pals! Fun game to watch!

Sorry about the blue shirt. Again, coming straight from work. Haha! Well last night, I went from work to my barber to the high school. Haha! I own one red shirt, and it's an Ohio State t-shirt. Well, I own a maroon dress shirt, too, but it doesn't fit me anymore. :( As I mentioned on the other thread, though, I'll be wearing plenty of purple this evening.
