smanorrville beat tuslaw 73-54 in the district title game in 92. I remember it being a fairly close game til dee simpson blocked a sure layup from behind....then orrville went on a run to take control of game.
-
RedRider1Of all the great players on that team, I was a big Dee Simpson fan. He wore grey nikes like the Jimmy Jackson Ohio St. teams of that same era, while the rest of the Riders wore black Nikes.
Plus he did a little bit of everything for that team. He was our lockdown defender too. -
FlashGirls win tonight 45-31 against Smithville. Sam Ruesser wins his first match and wrestles again at 10:00am tomorrow. Northwestern girls win and are in the finals at Wellington .

Sat. at 2 against ....... Manchester? I didn't hear any final on their game. -
OQBCongrats to the girls and to Sam!
-
THE4RINGZI listened to the girls game on the radio. Sounded like the Wooster girls and their traitor coach had a nice game against a good Smithville team.
Congratulations and good luck tomorrow to Sam. Give them heck (edited per OC rules.) -
FlashManchester score 46-39. Wooster Girl and booted coach you mean. We'll take those kind of rejects any day. He's really done a great job over here and were thankful we have him.
-
riders1Speaking of woooster girls, or maybe just girls not in "general", what would you do in this case?

FlashIn football you could see too many players, but basketball? It happens in volleyball too, where they hit four times rather than 3.
-
sports time ohioGreat win by the girls now on to our old foe Manchester for District championship tomorrow @ 2:00. Alberts seems to struggle against that team.

Manchester definitely has a great, solid program and a very good girls team. Good luck to both teams in what should be a very exciting and competitive game! -
FlashSam Reussser lost his quarterfinal match , but won his consolation match.

The word we got at school today was that the worst he could finish is 8th. But let's not talk about "worst". That word is not part of his life vocabulary! Go Sam! Whoot Whoot! -
OQBNice Win tonight Riders!! Keep it going and don't let anyone get in your way!
-
FlashSam lost his match tonight and will be wrestling for 7th. OQB , it wasn't nice , but we will be moving on. Tonight's game was a hi-lite reel of our woes. I thought Tuslaw was well coached and played great, shooting an unreal FT % and shooting good from the outside.
-
thePITmanEveryone in the gym knew what Orrville should have been doing on every possession; and when they finally started doing it consistently in the 3rd quarter, they built an 18-point lead. Then I don't think Winters stepped on the court in the 4th quarter, and the inside game of Wasson & Winters stopped, and Tuslaw crept back in and almost pulled out the win. I guess I don't understand it, but I'm not a coach, so... It was a win, and the Red Riders move on to Hillsdale!
-
FlashWe were effective in getting it inside without turning it over in the 3rd, then we mixed the lineup some and all the sudden no one could do anything and we fouled like we were behind in the game. We can not stall, our personel precludes that and we shoot around 50% FT as a team. We have to bore full steam ahead to win. Tuslaw shot 85% tonight to our 52%.
-
smanI dont understand why coaches stop attacking when they get a big lead....never have and never will. I hope i eat my words.....but i don't think orrville will beat hillsdale. They are an impressive TEAM.

FlashImportant stats: Tuslaw 85% on fouls and Orrville 57% from the field. I thought Brenner played well as does Zach all the time. We've got into the habit of never playing Winters in the 4th. Sometimes its because were pressing to get back in the lead and other times trying to run time off. WE do lose the full steam ahead effect on offense that hurts us, but I'm sure defense and ball handling is what the coach is worried about.
