thavoiceJust heard on the radio that another student is wanting to use the same excuse. A girl missed more days than she was supposed to and now her parent(s) are telling the school they want her to walk as well because she was taking care of the parent(s) after a bad car accident.
We ALL knew that this would open up a can of worms! -

Seriously? That can't be true. -

Good. I a m sick and tired of the schools using whatever is at their disposal to extort, lie, and manipulate these kids. If they did the work and passed their tests. LET EM WALK.thavoice;1147127 wrote:Just heard on the radio that another student is wanting to use the same excuse. Seriously, if the school was going to give them a diploma by mail or whatever anyway they might as well let the kids walk.Devils Advocate;1147150 wrote:Good. If true, SVF owned about everybody in this thread.Steel Valley Football;1147140 wrote:Seriously? That can't be true. -
I Wear PantsNo he didn't. Because everyone in this thread was saying others should be allowed to be excused from whatever rule it is if the circumstances call for it. We're calling for the schools to make judgement calls on this. If they (the people in the school administration and such who should know the situation better than us) feel that this girl deserves to walk at graduation then they should let her. Not that damned complicated.

Exhibit A of why you need a zero tolerance policy. Bring on the lawsuits!thavoice;1147127 wrote:Just heard on the radio that another student is wanting to use the same excuse. Sorry, but you once again are clueless. Allowing exceptions, even if they are common sense, opens up the potential for lawsuits from bored lawyers who need to bill some hours or kill themselves, whichever is easier.I Wear Pants;1147180 wrote:Or you can just do the right thing for the circumstance. I don't remember ever making that statement on this forum or any forum. Unless you can provide evidence directing linking me to that statement, what you have said is false. The burden of proof is on you, unless you're going to pull-a-religion and claim I have to disprove the claim OR ELSE the claim is true.I Wear Pants;1147192 wrote:Doesn't matter, said the truth. -

Those were quotes showing what you actually said. You of course didn't post that exact phrase or else I would have used the quote feature on here.sleeper;1147196 wrote:I don't remember ever making that statement on this forum or any forum. What I quoted was the meaning of what you said. -

And I said, as did others, that schools are not in the business of judging the circumstances of every absence, tardiness, fight, illegal possession, offensive shirt, sexist comment, etc because they are not a court system.
I also said that doing so would set a precedence and bring others with similar claims trying to get an exception to the rule....and abracafuckingdabra look what happened.
You also said that it was such a rare case in such a small school that there wouldn't be other similar cases. To which I replied what if a student's mother was in a car accident and felt they deserved the same exception. I said all it would do is open a bigger can of worms and I was spot on.
I'm not trying to gloat, but get a fucking clue. -
