At what point is it creepy to go to highschool sporting events?

  • reclegend22
I never go back to boys games at my school, but I do attend girls games as my little sister is in the midst of finishing up her high school career. However, that's just because I'd rather be eaten alive by an octopus than go back to boys games at my school. But if somebody enjoys that type of thing, despite having no relatives or real connection to the team other than as a fan or member of the community, then the more power to them. Has anybody ever seen Hoosiers or read the book Where the Game Matters Most? There are entire towns and counties in the state of Indiana that completely shutdown to this day in order to watch their local hoops teams on Friday nights. High school basketball, in many ways, is not much different than college. The latter players can simply vote.

This tread is stupid as f***.

I go when I'm home. Have a few cousins that still play. Plus in my hometown if there is a ffhs game the town is dead so anyone I'd wanna hang out with is gonna be there.

What is it that you don't understand? My goodness. It does however explain a lot about your comprehension skills, which, in turn explains your moderation skills. WEAK.

I'll go watch my alma mater play in the OHSAA football playoffs if I don't have anything else going on. I also went and watched the leage wrestling meet this year, but I coached the seniors on the team when they were freshmen, otherwise I wouldn't have gone.

I don't think it is creepy unless you go to every game/match with no connection whatsoever. But if you are an alumunus or have a connection, it's not a problem.

We had a local team win the DIV state champiionship this past season, me and about half a dozen other guys who know each other just from this site met, tail gated, and watched their last three play oiff games together. It was a whole lot of fun.

LOL, agreed. I didn't even wear my varsity jacket in high school. I told my parents not to buy it.

Whoa, screw you man. I earned those letters. No one...I mean NO ONE could play the symbols better than me and you can take that to the bank!

Personally I don't feel like attending a high school game at age 40 for the reason of watching a kid play who is going to be playing for either my favorite college team or a big time school is any different than me attending the DII state championship my senior year to watch Brandon Saine play (I have absolutely no connection to Piqua, in fact I'm not entirely sure where it's even at).

In both instances I would have gone for entertainment value, so why is that wrong? It doesn't mean there's nothing else to do, it means I chose to devote 2 hours of a friday night to watch a player excelling over his peers. I really don't see the problem there.

I've been reading through this for last few days, and it has been halarious how many of you took offense to the OP.

If you take the time to read it, I asked at what point is it creepy. Not that it was automatically,

( unless you are a Big Red putz )

Fuck guys, I thought this was Serious Business.

I have been threatened, insulted and banned from Va JJ's over this thread, And all I can say is, Damn that was fun. Another succesfull weekend!!!:p

Why is this even a question? Going to a high school sports game is completely different than going to a 5 year old beauty pageant as a 40 year old male with no relation to anyone in the show. SMH
