I've never been on the high school forums and I'm not going over there to look for ghosts. I just thought it was an ironic tidbit.

You shouldn't be posting on a minor league message board at all though. You now have adult things to do.

I find it weird that people find it creepy if someone attends a sporting event. To me if its creepy at high school levels then it should be creepy on all levels. If your a fan of football no matter the level its alright to go watch. Seriously its a sport that you enjoy to watch. As a fan of football I go to watch football not young kids playing the game. Im not understanding whats the problem with watching a sport. If your there creeping it dont matter what level it is your still doing the same thing. After I graduated I still went back to watch my friends that I grew up with play the game. Now that Im older I still go watch the game cause I like football no matter what level. Fridays find a game i like I go watch it. Saturdays I watch college. I hate pros but still watch cause I like bitching at the tv screen.

I'll address this as you added it in later.

I started posting on JJ when I was in high school. I used it to follow results some of my fellow younger teammates for my first 2 years in college (as I knew them for 2-3 years before). After that I really didn't pay attention to high school sports until I started coaching then that one I followed the boards again. But now I just recently stopped coaching (no longer time for it) and I occasionally check results to see how some of my former athletes are doing as I worked with them for a few years.

The only HS athletic event I stop by is the Alumni evening and that's to see old friends.

So there is no problem with a 40 year old man, no connection to the team what so ever, to go watch 9 year olds play football? I mean, football is football right, "no matter the level."

Your exactly right hes there to watch the game. I go watch little kids play the game on sundays sometimes. Im 36 and dont see a thing wrong in it. I love the sport and the game in its self. Now if the 40yr old is known pervert then yes i would have a problem with it. You seem to have issues with things like this or it was the way you were raised. Either way there is nothing wrong with it. You have your opinion. You keep thinking just cause a forty year old is going to a game he has to have alternative notions as in being a pervert. Im not sure how you come to that conclusion. Must be a city thing cause where I live its always been a good thing to go to games.

Never did I say that the person has to be a pervert, but it is a cause for concern. Now I guess my excessive use of creepy might start to bring a person to that conclusion, and that's my fault.

I just think at that point in that persons life, they should be doing something else. If I'm a parent and I know there is some guy with no connection to a family or team going to watch my 9 year old's team play a sport, then I'm going to keep an eye on that person. I wouldn't just assume he's a pervert and call the cops, but I would definitely be wary.

    What's the problem with that?

It's not like every person out there is Jerry Sandusky

The creepy part is why I jumped about the pervert thing. I dont see a problem with it personally. I was raised not to judge anyone. What if that guy is married and could never had any kids and he just likes to go watch kids play. I mean there are a thousand other things I worry about beside what the guy in the crowd is doing. To say there are other things to do I dont get either. If you like the sport of football then what else is there to do but watch the sport of football. I think this is more of a city thing. When I went to college some of the city guys seemed a lot like you. Not sure what the difference is in the city and the country towns but give me the country people are way more friendlier.

I'm glad there were so many "creeps" that went and watched football and basketball games I played in in HS. It would have sucked to play in front of 50 people.

I agree that I wouldn't be worried about who is in the stands normally. But if I had reason to know that there was just some stranger there, I would definitely keep it in mind.

But I think at some point someone should move on past certain things (stop going to watch kids, whether they be 9 or 17 play football unless you have one of my aforementioned reasons).

    What a stupid thread.

I see nothing wrong with people who want to go watch a HS sporting event like football or basketball...

One year my wife was running a race downtown C-bus and I went to watch. It started to rain and I just happened to be near the convention center so i went to stay dry. To my surprise, there were about 100 girls volleyball teams there for a 16-19 yr old tourney. Needless to say, I felt like a creeper. But I stayed lol but only cuz it was still raining.

SnotBubbles;1093965 wrote:LOL. There is nothing creepy about it. Maybe if a 50 year old man (Wayne from Ft. Wayne lets say) goes to all of the girls games and sits in the front row staring lustfully at the girls. But for a grown man/woman to go to a game just to watch their local school or alma mater and cheer on the community...there isn't anything creepy about it.

I've gone to games when I wasn't broadcasting (notably playoff games). I'm not there to pick up students and take them back to my house for butt secks.

This is a stupid thread. Sorry DA.
This (can't believe we found something to agree on.)

Whenever I go home to see the family, if my dad asks me to go catch the HS football game, I am not going to say "sorry dad, but I am in my mid 20's and people like c4f think its creepy if someone like me goes to the game, because 1. there is no relative or family friend participating, 2. our town is fairly big, and 3. the HS in this community has a very good athletic program top to bottom."

That is beyond idiotic. Some communities take pride in their HS representing them in a positive way through sports. I have never seen successful programs discourage members of the community to not come to any sport event as a spectator, because they think it is creepy. Each school has their group of dipshits who still need to vicariously live their HS years through current HS athletes, and I think for some of you it has clouded your judgement.

If you go by idiot c4f's logic, then it is also creepy for businesses in the community (no family or friend ties) to sponsor HS teams. SMH.

As somebody else said, going by C4F's logic, the HS kids would be playing in front of 50 people. That sounds like fun. I know when I played I'd have rather played in front of a sparse crowd instead of a sold out one.

Same, I was very paranoid of these creeps supporting me. How pathetic of them. They should have been at a hole in the wall bar getting pissed drunk, instead of supporting their community.

I'm known to attend high school sports events from time-to-time. I also sometimes watch MAC football games on ESPN.

    It's something to do.
  • said_aouita
A businessman from New York was in C-bus for a business trip the same weekend as this dual. Stayed an extra day just to attend a high school dual meet in little town St Paris.

Check out this vid. Pretty sure not everyone attending is related to one of the competing wrestlers.
