This Boom will change many portions of Ohio forever, dirt poor will become rich, rich will get richer spin-off jobs will be tremendous.
Don't believe me? Just type in oil,gas well jobs, for your area in eastern Ohio and you will see multiple pages of just executive openings
Job fairs are being conducted to recruit rig hands at 40,000 per year to start,if you want to work, your job is here what they don't hire locally

sportswizuhrdHeard about this last weekend. Companies are going to be buying a lot of land throughout Eastern Ohio and Western PA.

Yeah, a company named "Chesapeake" is buying mineral rights all over the place around here. I have heard that the job thing is a crock of shit though. I have heard that they are listing all these jobs, but just bringing in experienced guys from Oklahoma and Texas.sportswizuhrd;1010599 wrote:Heard about this last weekend. Yep, I heard the same thing. All the money that people think the state of Ohio will be making will be going right back out of the state.wes_mantooth;1010602 wrote:Yeah, a company named "Chesapeake" is buying mineral rights all over the place around here. "Chesapeake" is one of the world's largest natural gas producers.wes_mantooth;1010602 wrote:Yeah, a company named "Chesapeake" is buying mineral rights all over the place around here. It would be too expensive to bring in all the guys. They are most likely bringing in some experience to train everyone and run everything at the beginning. Basically in the exact middle of both claims -

Sorry. I'm not very nice to the ignorant.Doverbuck;1010595 wrote:Why in the world would you post a response like that? I had no malice towards anyone. -
Pick6Having done some work for Chesapeake, and other gas companies (pipeline) I think I can give some input.
I know people who work the pipeline, and are being interviewed to work for the pipeline. This is in the Ohio/WVA/PA tri-state area. There are guys who come from Texas, Oklahoma, etc to work. These guys are willing to relocate because of the money. There are still plenty of available jobs, ones that you can even make $100/hr if you have the right qualifications/tools. The Ohio Valley area is really benefiting off of this right now.
My grandpa just sold his gas rights for 120k. -
j_crazyThe boom in north Dakota should be a good reference for those interested. Presumably the activity in OH PA WV and NY OS going to be bigger. Much bigger.

Hope you are right....this is just the rumors that are traveling around this area.LJ;1010716 wrote:"Chesapeake" is one of the world's largest natural gas producers.

OSHThe boom is within the Marcellus shale and Utica shale.
I believe it's a bit (or a lot) different than the oil boom in North Dakota. -

Its mainly just "fear of the landman" most likely by a certain few that are spreading rumors to get ppl on their side -

It will be larger. Otherwise it'll be the same. Especially since the utica is a liquids rich play. Like the bakken. -

But there are real concerns over fracking contaminating ground water. That I haven't researched and my inclination is the EPA is again being it's typical politicized bullshit but in this case it's not without merit. The tech may not be quite ready for prime time, but that doesn't mean blanket and wholesale blocking of it by the EPA. -
j_crazyAsinine. If youre so lazy you believe what people say without doing any due diligence then your opinion means dick.
BTW in that article it says its old technology but why all the sudden is it a problem? Fracked hundreds of thousands of wells in ND no uproar here.
Its not fracking that ruins ground water. It's dumbass people that don't cement properly.
Seriously do more research before you post dumbass shit some nut is spewing on the internet. -
End of LineYeah these wells are all over the place whenever I head towards the Ohio Valley. It caught be a bit by surprise when I started seeing them.

Sort of what I was alluding to. But it does beg the question if the technology is sufficiently "fool-proof" enough. Throwing stupid people in jail, even, doesn't mean a whole lot to me after my well water has been contaminated. Is the regulation and controls really sufficient enough to protect those interests? I think that's the question that needs to be answered.j_crazy;1010865 wrote: Its not fracking that ruins ground water. It's dumbass people that don't cement properly.

200,000 new jobs? The dot-com boom is to Clinton as the oil boom is to Kasich? For job forecasts, Chesapeake refers to an economic impact study released in September by the Ohio Oil & Gas Energy Education Program. It projects 200,000 new jobs in four years, should the gas deposits be as large as expected. -
gutIf you need a job, move to North Dakota. They can't seem to find enough workers (mind boggling in this economy, but goes back to many people unwilling to relocate for work, or do that weekly commute). Heck, even the local McD's can't find enough burger flippers.
