passwordOSH;1011351 wrote:$2,000 an acre and 15% royalties? That's low for what's happening in Ohio.
A Guernsey County group got $5,000 an acre and 20% royalties.
Big Mirg, if you actually have that land...join a landowners group. That'll help you get more buck.
Jefferson county is close to $6000.00 an acre and 22% royalties and will continue to climb. You have to watch the landowner groups, as some of them are being run by lawyers that are working for both sides, they get a cut from the landowners for the amount they agree on, about 6-8 percent and then they get a bonus from the oil and gas companies for keeping the amount below a certain amount per acre. I think it is fairly easy to negotiate your own terms. There was one group who was given around $3000.00 + 17% and thought they had hit the jackpot. -
I Wear PantsI'll have to check what my parents got.

Yeah, just have to make sure you don't make any bad deals with people.wes_mantooth;1011370 wrote:I feel bad for the thousands of people that are locked under contract to Kimbles. They aren't getting **** from those crooks and they can't get out from it for a couple of years.
Sometimes that deal you mentioned is "the jackpot." It all depends on what everything is worth. The landowners groups can be good as you mentioned, and they shouldn't get trapped by lawyers if the group and its officers are doing their jobs.password;1011437 wrote:Jefferson county is close to $6000.00 an acre and 22% royalties and will continue to climb. If that was insulting...you really need to relax. If that was insulting, I'd hate to be around you if there was actually an insult directed toward you.Big_Mirg_ZHS;1011474 wrote:Still it was insulting.
There was absolutely nothing to it. I have no idea who anyone is on this site, how am I supposed to know what anyone has or doesn't have? -
Mr. 300The company I work for has been doing quite a bit of renovation for Holdings Companies and anyone that has vacant buildings. In Cambridge alone we've already done some major work on a vacant ubit, and in the St C area just finished working on 3 vacant bldgs. All these are being leased out with more to come.

I Wear PantsSo how long of a process is the fracking?/If this creates the jobs people are talking about how long will they last?

10-20 years? But between the dire job market and our energy dependence, if it were only 5 years does that really change what should be an obvious answer?I Wear Pants;1011706 wrote:So how long of a process is the fracking?/If this creates the jobs people are talking about how long will they last? -

I've heard enough work for the area for 20 years. Dover said he's heard 5-10 years minimum.I Wear Pants;1011706 wrote:So how long of a process is the fracking?/If this creates the jobs people are talking about how long will they last? -

Fracks are a part of completing a well. As long as they are drilling they are fracking. After that re-fracks are possible. Look at it this way even with no drilling you still need 1 person for every 20 wells producing. So if they drill 10000 wells they'll need 500 people to keep them running. Not to mention workovers so probably another 1 person per 15 wells. That's gonna be 40 to 50 years. So the boom will last 10-20 years but those jobs will fizzle out. The production jobs are long term. -

No, unless the problems with the fracking (be it cementing or any part of it) actually do fuck up the water because then I think the obvious answer is to solve that before moving forward.gut;1011711 wrote:10-20 years? TL;DR: Drill as many wells as you want as long as you don't fuck up the water. -
j_crazyLol iwp is a jerkoff. I'm trying to explain how it works so you can form an opinion without Michael Moore and pelosi jargon and you give me a tldr. Douche.

I Wear PantsJesus Christ. I'll be sure to not use the term fracking to describe the whole process from now on.
And Moore is a fat douche.
Also the TL;DR wasn't directed at you so fuck off. I did appreciate your breakdown of the production jobs and such though. -

Apparently concerns over chemicals in water count as a smart ass remark now. -
j_crazy@ IWP. My bad, thought it was. Was just trying to help. Don't worry about fracking its safer than people would have you believe. I'm sure Ohio has an oil and gas commission overseeing everything. Their website would be a great resource. They police the whole process.

I Wear PantsI'll check that out. I'm not trying to be Captain Planet, but I have read some things about water contamination and was hoping someone in here would maybe be all "well here's an article that explains why that isn't really a problem" or something.
That Forbes one I linked did that to a degree saying that some of the water contamination was due to that particular gas deposit or whatever being more shallow than most and that others probably wouldn't have that problem.
Also, internet is serious business so don't worry about it and I'm an asshole so jerkoff comment was probably deserved. -
sleeperIWP has proven time and time again that he's a bleeding heart liberal who hates cops and loves the environment. He has an almost complete detachment from reality and instead chooses to live and defend a fantasy land.

I Wear PantsYes, I'm a bleeding heart liberal who voted for Mccain and will vote for Paul if he's on the ballot.
And you said "loves the environment" like it's a bad thing. We all should. That doesn't mean we have to cry every time a tree is cut down though. Reason should still prevail. -

I'm supposedly the enemy of these "fracking is bad" nuts but I love the environment. Likely do more hiking/ swimming/hunting/fishing than any of them.
