Marines are apparently proud of being Marines, but not in their ability to formulate a successful plan on the first try. -
Tiger2003Like I have said. We all fight the same fight. Yes all 4 branches do there job but alot of times shit is half assed done. That is why they have the Marines as the first one in to show the people we are here to kill and do are jobs. Then we are the last ones out to fix all the fuck up. The Marines are the best there is at combat.
Yes the Air Force does ok for air support but that is about it. Half of the time when you call in for air support they say no or 20 minutes later they show up.
The Navy does a great job at the Taxi service. They also have the greatest Dr in the world. Have the up most respect for the Navy medical field.
The Army well they are the Army. Ain't Really Marines Yet so on and so on. There is a reason why they aren't Americas 911 even though they were the 1st found service.
Then the Marines. Well we get hand me downs from the Army, are a Department of the Navy, the smallest branch, the most feared branch in military. Have the toughest standards. Everyone in the Marines is a rifleman. -

Yeah, easy to say anything behind a keyboard. I'm not scared, I don't hide from anybody, and there's zero percent chance you'd do anything. -

Seems a lot like a specialty issue. Marines are, of course, known for their ability to assault, which means of course they have to be tough. You'll never hear me say I've met a Marine who wasn't. Then again, every serviceman I've met has been extraordinary in his or her dedication to what they do and willingness to die for their country.Tiger2003;796049 wrote:Like I have said. Could someone in the Navy lead a ground assault like a Marine? Not without significant augmentation to his training. Could a Marine have flown a tank buster successfully in the Gulf War? Not without significant augmentation to his training. And so it goes. Is there some overlap? Sure. But there is enough specialty that each would have a leg up on the others, it would seem (I can't speak as much to the Army, as that branch seems like a 'Jack of all trades' of sorts). -

I primarily chose the AF because that was what my Father served in. I stayed away from the Navy because I don't like water. I was recruited pretty hard by the Army, but it really didn't interest me. My Bro-in-Law, at the time was in the Marines so I knew their recruiter pretty well. He never tried to sway me from my decision since he knew my heart was in joining the AF, unlike the pushy Army recruiters.
As far as being a Rifleman first, that's good if that's what you want to do. I wanted something technical so I chose to be an Avionics Tech on F-16s. I never had to carry a weapon or had to worry about being pulled from my Primary job to man a post. We had a career field for people who wanted to carry weapons, the Security Police. My job was to keep several Weapons, F-16s, flyable.
The mentality of each branch is different as we have different rolls. When I was in the AF everyone had specific career field to perform in and were trained in it. I believe they thought why would we spend all the money and time training you in your AFSC, to pull you away for Base Defense when they've trained Airmen to do that as their job. No need for me to go to Infantry training as we had no such thing. We had Aircraft, of which we sent out Officers, for them to perform their Air rolls. (Not my fault)
Luckily with the training I received on Computer Principles, way back in 1987, prepared me for my current job in the Computer field. As for my now ex Bro-in-Law who was trained to lead a Squad in an house to house Urban environment while taking fire, he's been a Garbage man since leaving the Marine Corps back in the late 80's. Not a bad job, as it pays alright and he likes the hours, but it's a job I wouldn't want...much like his job while he was in the Corps.
I respect all branches and like good hearted kidding, but I always remember we are on the same team. (like it or not)
Now in good fun a picture of a T-Shirt The Wife bought on Vacation last week.
...I said if they had one for the Air Force it would read "Eating good while staying out of harms way" -

Well the Air Force doesnt do shit. Sit around and watch tv and shoot the shit. Calling for air support is a waste of a time. Sorry guys it is to hostile or some other fucking excuse they have.
Air Force doesn't do shit? LOL, there is a reason the Air Force gets more funding than the Marines. They do WAY more shit. Bomb the shit out of a location and let you maids pick thru the rubble.

This sounds regurgitated.
If the Army just "fucks things up," then it would only make sense to get rid of them. Do you think that should be done?
If the Air Force "doesn't do shit," then it would only make sense to get rid of them, too. Do you think that should be done, as well?
Don't even waste your time, Otrap. I am beginning to think that Tiger is just a troll posing as a former Marine.

With that said, I lthink claiming one branch is better than another is stupid. All of them are over there doing the same thing and fighting for the same country and people.
Tougher PT requirements, but your IQ has to be lower than room temperature otherwise you are overqualified to be a marine. -

This is the joke that usually comes around during family events.
"Marines: They're like the Air Force, but with nuts."
"Marines + brains = Air Force"
It's fun to watch, honestly. -

I would hope our military makes its members mentally tough enough to not snap when a random person disagrees with them. -
Midstate01I just flew delta from Hawaii to Ohio the other day. Not on orders, and they checked my one bag for free. Most airlines are very military friendly. If you are in uniform, they let you board before anyone else. Theyve upgraded us free of charge twice before.
This was probably just a mistake. You can tell the airport staff's that have dealt with a lot of military personnel before and know the policies the best.
Whoever said it was no big deal, you're an idiot!! These guys were coming back from war, risking their lives for the rest of us. Something you obviously know nothing about.
Delta will make it right... Have too! They are almost the exclusive airline that the USAF uses, they won't want to lose that money from troops pcs'ing, deploying or tdy.
And nice to see most the airlines make it 5 free bags on orders. That'll be great when we leave Hawaii. Be able to use a few bags just to put things for the baby in. -
O-TrapMidstate01;797185 wrote:Whoever said it was no big deal, you're an idiot!! These guys were coming back from war, risking their lives for the rest of us. Something you obviously know nothing about.
I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about what it takes to succeed in war. Moreover, I don't think I could pull the trigger and take the life of another human being, terrorist or not, so I am VERY thankful for those who can and do to protect our country.
Having said that, any special allowances granted to military personnel by any private company are done so by the choice of the company and at the discretion of the company. I would hope that our military personnel would accept them with class when they are offered, but not demand them or throw a tantrum when they don't get them.
I don't understand why military personnel would fight to protect rights (including the right to run private business with freedom of such choice) and then throw a fit like a 4-year-old when one of those rights is used in a way he doesn't like.
I guess I just don't buy the mentality that says, "They went to WAR and risked their LIVES for their country, so they should get whatever the fuck they want when they get home!" -
Tiger2003How many of you have been to Iraq or Afghanistan or both?

I was in Balad, Iraq. I think Glory Days has been to both. Pretty sure there is a few others on here that have been to one of those countries. -
Tiger2003How many of you have pulled the trigger and shot someone point blank? How many of you watched someone die, as you were telling them they were going to be ok? How many of you have been blown up?
The Marines are the elite of the elite. We are the best at what we do any nobody else comes close. Fuck the Air Force they never do shit. The Marines are the ones who are doing 90% of the flying mission in Afghan. Numerous time the Air Force wont even do a refueling mission because they say it is to hostile. Talk about being a fucking pussy.
None of you know what it is like to be a Marine. We get shitted on every single day. But there is a reason why the President of the United States has us a his 911. -

Easy bro... Wife is a LT in the USAF. And she's an intel officer, they are constantly directing marines to where the enemy is. So they aren't doing anything.
Marines are hardcore killers!! They do the things that we dot want the public to know. Unfortunately, a lot Pf them get out and don't do well in the regular world... And it's easy to see why. They are trained to kill and kill!! -

Midstate01And they absolutely dont do 90% of the flying. That's laughable. Harriers aren't the best plane to have flying in the desert.... I'm sure they use their choppers a lot but no more then the army or AF.
