  And, on a more serious note, I know quite a few veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. Couple of friends and people I've met since though them. They are all pretty young guys, 23-24-25, and they have witnessed death first hand. Hard, horrible deaths.
  
  And not one of those brave soldiers believe they are owed anything. They knew the risk and responsibility of being a soldier and they accepted that. To make a gross generalization (or to make some kind of joke out of it) about those men reeks of ignorance (or some perverted sense of humor).

  I see that this really took off while I was sleeping. I'm not going to argue with you because you and I are so far from the same opinion that it would be a waste of time. This reply is really just to correct you. I own the cars. Yes, the bank owns the house and I have a mortgage like most Americans. People don't want to work for minimum wage, so they choose not to work at all. If you don't get that $18-20 per hour job, and someone else does, then you have to get out there and help our economy work. Just like the mentality of "every kid should get to play in the football game" we get the "every person should get to make $15+ per hour!"

What I'm saying is hard work and ethics left this country in the late 90s. Its been getting worst evey generation after the Civil War. And it took off in the last 20 years. Point proven this thread.

  If you want to earn more than $8.00 per hour you have to bring more than $8.00 per hour of value to your employer. People don't deserve a higher paying job unless they can benefit their employer at a higher level.

  Just read every post. Worst 20 minutes I have ever spent. The only thing I have to say is jokes or not...how can you disrespect the veterans and the men and women who have served our country and compare them to people who build bridges and work in power plants (I believe that was the comparison..hard to remember since I had to sift through so much bullshit)? You want this manly man America and then talk shit about the bravest of the brave? I bet you couldn't last one week in basic training..let alone the 8-12.
  
  Furthermore, I have a couple buddies who served in Afganistan and Iraq and know a few others and none of them expect or want anything or feel entitled. Sure it goes on their resume and makes it real easy to get hired, but I think for risking your life you deserve that. But they would never say that. Hell, my one buddy doesn't even like it when we tell people he just got back from Iraq at the bar. Makes him uncomfortable because people just buy him drinks all night.

  On a serious note I think that anyone who serves this country needs to be treated better than the way they get treated. It seems back in the 70s some bad shit happened to the vets and we still haven't fixed what went wrong then. On the same point though the men and women who work in jobs where any given day they might not come home deserve as much respect as a military person. Why? Because if you think about it they are putting everything they have on the line to support their family and make this a better life for them and this country.

  When was the last time you had to look for mines that would blow you to pieces on your way to work? Or just as bad, when was the last you watched as one of your friends and coworkers got blown up by said mine or held a man in your arms as he bleed to death from gunshot wounds?
  
  What jobs are you talking about where people may not come home that don't get respect? I know firefighters and police get a lot of respect from people I know and when they save people from burning buildings they are heros and are treated as such.
