Sure but you don't yell for gun control. Gun didnt do it. A person did. The people that do these acts have a screw loose.isadore;1880307 wrote:when a horrendous act takes place like Las Vegas, New York or Texas, it is the right time to begin to discuss how to prevent another attack. -
iclfan2Turns out the suspect was met (possibly shot at) by an armed citizen which got him to run away. So the citizen should have been disarmed? What else would have stopped this besides a straight up repeal of the second amendment? How do we even know if he owned the gun legally? Certainly wasn’t legal to go shoot up that church.

gutSo the FBI is involved, and no information released on the shooter....I wonder why that might be?

like_thatThe shooter was allegedly a dishonorably discharged vet. Can't own a gun if you are dishonorably discharged.

of course gun control should be part of the discussion as immigration law should be part of the discussion after the New York attack.Spock;1880312 wrote:Sure but you don't yell for gun control. Gun didnt do it. A person did. The people that do these acts have a screw loose. -

More violence from the liberal left. -

I just saw where he was “bad conduct” discharged and not dishonorably. Was discharged for abusing his wife so not sure if he’s a felon or not.superman;1880348 wrote:He bought the gun illegally. Gun control laws didn't work.

And yes, it’s almost as if the lefts violent rhetoric and the media who fan those flames have actually resulted in deaths

When people on the left do this, it's the fault of the violent rhetoric from the right. When people on the right do this, it's the fault of the violent rhetoric from the right.iclfan2;1880350 wrote: And yes, it’s almost as if the lefts violent rhetoric and the media who fan those flames have actually resulted in deaths
IMO, this all has roots 10-15 years ago when the left "weaponized" identity politics. If you disagree with their view, you automatically got your thinking from Fox, and Fox viewers are racist/bigots. It's mainly how they shutdown debate and insulate people inside their bubble from different views. You'll note how the left rarely argues with facts and logic - instead they attribute counter arguments as racist/bigoted so those views can be dismissed without a debate. Trump does the same thing, and the left has gone completely bonkers over using their tactics against them. -

In August, 2016 71% of Republicans still doubted Obama was born in the US. You are racists and bigots.gut;1880351 wrote:When people on the left do this, it's the fault of the violent rhetoric from the right. When people on the right do this, it's the fault of the violent rhetoric from the right.

Dr Winston O'BoogieI don't question that the guy was mentally ill. However if he had a pistol or even a shotgun, the damage would have likely been way less. I don't know that I can ever see a reason why an assault rifle like this is even available.
The last two rampages have clearly shown the benefit of assault weapons to a deranged person. The circle of pain they can spread is much larger than it would be otherwise. -

Excluding Vegas, you can pretty much do just as much damage with a handgun in a crowded space as with an assault rifle.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1880390 wrote: The last two rampages have clearly shown the benefit of assault weapons to a deranged person. What else might have stopped this? You should have to be licensed to purchase all firearms with examinations similar to the way investment advisors & reps have to. Since the latter doesn't violate the 1st amendment neither would the former violate the 2nd amendment. In turn, as QCB has, pointed out before, clearly seems like there's problems with current background check system.iclfan2;1880331 wrote:Turns out the suspect was met (possibly shot at) by an armed citizen which got him to run away. 1. An AR-15 is not an assault rifle since it is not an automatic weapon.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1880390 wrote:I don't question that the guy was mentally ill. 2. An AR-15 fires just as fast as any other semi-automatic hunting rifle, just as fast as a semi-automatic pistol, etc. So yes, a Ruger Mini 14 hunting rifle fires the same ammunition, is semi-auto, and has 30 round clips as well. That rifle just doesn't "look scary" like an AR-15. It looks like a hunting rifle, is perfectly legal, has never been accused of wrong doing like the AR-15 but it is essentially the exact same weapon except for how it looks.
3. Before any moron talks about Bump Stocks, I am in agreement, they simulate near auto fire and should have the same restrictions as fully auto assault rifles.
4. If you don't think a guy with 2 semi-auto pistols or a semi-auto hunting rifle could have pulled off exactly what happened at the church yesterday, then you really do not understand guns. -
