But seriously, that had to be a disgruntled staffer getting sweet revenge, right? You know that's what all the dimensions were about - the staffer sold him that this was a possibility (It's geometry!).

I never heard this...this is far worse than the Alaskan Congressman a few years ago that described the internet as a "series of tubes". This maybe one of the dumbest things I have heard in a LONG time...and by a sitting Congressman (at the time).

Yesterday, I saw some of this event played out on Twitter. The jist of it is this: A Mother Jones writer actually accused Dave Rubin of being to the right of Breitbart (lol).

Well, Rubin called the jackass out and while there was no official apology or statement from MJ, Rubin got the writer to change some wording and back-peddle a little bit.
Anybody with one ounce of brain matter knows that Dave Rubin does not have a right ideology. In fact, he used to work for The Young Turks until they got too stupid for words. He's definitely a liberal, but he's also a free thinker who detests the progressive movement.
If anybody is not familiar with him, it would be worth your time to check him out on youtube.

Like I said in the other thread, the left has invested a lot of time and energy into making right-wingers into racist, homophobic anti-science bible thumpers....then anyone that disagrees with them they call a right-winger, which is basically saying "you're too stupid to argue with".

This is what the loudmouths on both sides do to the other. Your characterization is somewhat true. Some of the people on the left do demonize conservatives. Similarly, some of the people on the right do the exact same with to liberals. The venom each has for the other is a merry go round.

My frustration is that these vocal groups are the minority of both sides. Most people have a much more sensible view of the world then thinking that people who think differently should be stereotyped and vilified. It's part of the problem with political dialogue in the US. The debates that go on everyday are often arguments between these two minority groups. Ironically, none of the people in either group listen to the other and none are open minded enough to challenge their own thinking on anything.

@Boogie:

I think that you are also "somewhat" right. However, where I disagree with you is the idea that this extreme political disparity is somewhat even. In my own view it is the left that has been transgressing on this, in a multitude of ways. Not the least of which is visibility (internet news, paper news, cable news). Over time, they have successfully push people more and more to the right, even those that are generally grounded towards the center. The reason I say this is because of President Trump. It is still my contention that people voted for Trump as a giant middle finger towards not only the establishment and Clinton, but also progressivism (turns off vast amounts of people), identity politics and shame-gaming. We have to keep in mind that there were people on the right who voted both times for Obama. Just like there were people who voted for Trump that voted twice for Obama. What the left has been up to for years now couldn't have played into the the right's hands more if they tried really hard and twice on Sundays. It's why the republicans have the House, Senate and WH (I still think Trump is a charlatan who is no more republican than Cenk Ugyur). And the left better cool their heels and rethink the message they want to tout or it's going to be a long hard road for them.

There is a lot of truth in what you're saying. From my perspective, the extreme right has been the initiator of this poisonous discourse. I think right wingers have successfully used simplification to demonize the word "liberal" to the point that calling yourself one in mixed company equates to saying you hate the US. But since I am a center left person, my bias is in there. As far as Trump being a FU to progressives, that may be. But that kind of thing is typical in elections. Obama was an FU to the neoconservative Bush years. Bush was an FU to the Clinton politics and shenanigans. Clinton was an FU to the country club republican way, etc. etc.

The word "liberal" has its roots in liberty. The founders were liberals. The left bastardized the term then attempted to rebrand as progressives.

Colleague of mine who would consider himself center left told me he voted Trump. Just as an FU to government at the least. Although he does hold a strong aversion to the PC bullshit. FU's that you mention are typical in elections I agree. The Trump FU is not typical. The sooner we come to grips with that the better.

Transgender backers are absurd all over twitter. There are articles claiming you are transphobic for only wanting to date real members of the opposite sex. Trying to normalize a mental disorder for a minuscule part of the population has gotten out of control.

I just don't understand how it can be discrimination for not pretending someone doesn't have a penis.

So, I turned on the tv a little bit this morning and it was like night and day between two different stations.
On FOX: were talking about Trump talking to China and Japan about North Korea
On MSNBC: talking about feelings and relationships/dysfunctionalities between the various peoples of the US

At that point I just turned the tv off because neither story was particularly interesting to me in either moment. But I did find it funny the very wide rift of topics that each station was putting out. It's very telling.

The only narrative the left has is to make up news stories about trump team and whether they are getting along. Its pretty pathetic.

Leave it to the 4th of July for the shitty ass regressives to come up with hot takes about how they refuse to celebrate b/c Trump is in office, it's only for white people, etc. Douche bags

There is something overtly hilarious about a white guy being a leader of BLM.

I don't think that this is a major problem in the west.
I've always suspected a large base of the AGW alarmists is a rebranding of a decades-old anti-population movement among scientists/economists. I saw Bill Nye - not a science guy, but plays one on tv - get dismantled on a CC debate and basically end-up admitting the world can't support so many people.

I expect this movement/approach to gather steam in a "last hurrah" as CO2 continues to go from "smoking gun" to "mehhh" and a new "kitchen sink" approach will blame everything from concrete jungles to deforestation to cow farts as driving warming...all as a result of too many people.

I'd like to say understanding climate processes is hugely valuable...but when everything is rigged to point the finger at CO2, then we're likely going backwards.

Want to fight climate change? Kill yourself.
