Impressed by Trump administration

"may"??? Nothing is done on accident in DC. Trump is and was right the whole time about Obama. He tapped him and then signed off on agencies sharing everything so that his holdovers could conspire to get him.

Thought it was worth some bolding.

Then what is this? There is still a lot of unanswered questions out there. It has been very entertaining so far during Trump's presidency.

Makes that last-minute executive order to share such intel across agencies look all the more suspicious.

Nunes later told CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper" that "President-elect Trump and his team were put into intelligence reports."
"Clearly there is a lot of information in the reports that I've seen, which were dozens, that would lead me to believe that the last administration and numerous agencies had a pretty good idea of what President-elect Trump was up to and what his transition team was up to and who they were meeting with," Nunes told Tapper.
We have a US congressman claiming he has seen these reports and this is one of his conclusions. If true this is very serious. Also Micheal Rogers testified that only 20 individuals including himself can "unmask" non targeted US citizens.

Hahah....Schiff is in full-blown damage control. If the Obama administration was surveilling the Trump crew, and then set things up for that information to be disseminated (and leaked)....will the Democrats and liberal media be as outraged over this as they got over a tweet?

If you're calling for impeachment over this collective "Russia" thing, then it stands to reason if Trump is largely exonerated that one or more people should be going to jail.

Of course, the liberal media will beat to death the "where there's smoke..." argument. Except what would they say about something that may have never been more than a fishing expedition with the goal of weaponizing manipulated intel? What would we have found out about Clinton if we turned the intelligence services loose on questionably "legal" surveillance of her activites? Certainly more than the nothingburger they turned up on Trump.

Sounds like there will be a vote today at 3:30.

Treasury Secretary Mnuchin rightly calls the cap on the supply of treasuries aka the "debt ceiling" a "ridiculous concept".

    Yes! #MAGA

Thankfully we have a Treasury Secretary from Goldman that knows the economy needs and wants $20T in liquid, safe financial capital. #MAGA

LMFAO....so your theory is issuing more debt drives interest rates down - because the appetite for the lowest yielding investment on the planet is so high?!?

    No that's not my theory.

The failure of the goverment to adequately supply base financial assets relative to demand for said assets - e.g. treasuries, bank reserves, etc. Results in slow NGDP and hence low interest rates.

As Milton Friedman put it - low rates are evidence that money has been tight. We have had a massive increase in the supply of said assets but not enough to satiate demand.

I think US treasuries are a horrible investment at these rates. It's mainly for institutions/countries that are highly risk averse and/or can only hold very liquid assets. For 99.9% of individual investors, they can get a superior risk-adjusted return with a diversified portfolio. The only individuals for whom treasuries make sense are very wealthy people who want to keep probably 3-5% of their portfolio very liquid.

All other individuals would do better to shop around for better yields on CD's, or an investment grade corporate bond fund. I have no idea why an individual would have bought a long-dated US treasury in the last 15-20 years.
We should stop issuing longer term treasuries altogether IMHO.

I would be cool with Garland on the court if that meant Ginsburg or Breyer was gone.

[h=3]President, Vice President: NAM Survey Shows “Historic” Manufacturer Optimism.[/h]During remarks to business executives on Tuesday broadcasted by CNBC’s Squawk On The Street (4/4), Vice President Pence said that businesses and consumers “haven’t been this optimistic in decades.” He said, “We just learned from the National Association of Manufacturers that, in their historic quarterly report, 93 percent of manufacturers are optimistic about the future.” He added, “That represented almost a 40-point increase in optimism since the last report.” Pence said the NAM’s survey “is evidence of a vote of confidence in our new President, and in his vision to get this economy moving again by putting common-sense principles into practice.”

Also: Construction spending increased 0.8% in February despite a 0.3% decline in private nonresidential construction, according to the Commerce Department. Overall, construction spending was up 3% year over year and hasn't been at this level since April 2006.

[h=3]Trade Deficit Fell By 9.6% In February To Four-Month Low, Beating Forecast.[/h]Bloomberg News (4/4, Jamrisko) reports the Commerce Department announced this morning that the trade deficit fell in February by 9.6 percent to $43.6 billion, “a four-month low as imports declined and exports improved amid a brighter outlook for global manufacturing.” The economists surveyed by Bloomberg had predicted a $44.6 billion deficit. Bloomberg adds, “Exports of goods and services reached the highest level since the end of 2014. The narrowing of the deficit may mean trade will be less of a drag on growth in the first quarter,” while a weakening dollar “and a pickup in manufacturing sentiment could be a further boon to trade in the months ahead.”

One can only hope. Shooing out clowns with no business in high-profile settings would be one way for me to gain a bit of actual faith in the current administration. Of course, the simple truth that Trump is using his son-in-law and his extensive knowledge of, uh, real estate?!? as his jack-of-all-trades to handle a ton of important shit isn't helping me in that regard, but, you know, small victories and all that.

Gorsuch confirmed. Probably the most significant positive development to come from the White House in 10 years. Thank you, President Trump, and the republican majority in the senate. Great day for the United States of America.
